The copyright status of anonymous translations cannot be judged based on time since the author's death, because we don't know when the author (translator) died. --EncycloPetey (talk) 20:44, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@EncycloPetey: Sorry, you are right (obviuosly). Thanks for the correction. I was experimenting with quickstatements. I pulled a short list of works authored by writers dead before 1946 from Italy with a query and then added the statement (with quickstatements) only to discover some exceptions... I missed this one :) --Divudi85 (talk) 20:54, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If it helps, what we've found is that cross-checking for the presence of a value for "editor" or "translator" catches most of the exceptions. --EncycloPetey (talk) 20:55, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@EncycloPetey: that's a good idea! I could add an OPTIONAL to catch the editor(s)/translator(s). --Divudi85 (talk) 21:08, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

QuickStatement batches

[edit]

Hi, as you may have heard, I recently set up a new engine for QuickStatement batches. I noticed that several of your batches (example) are marked as DONE, but have many commands left to run. That could have been caused by a faulty test run of the new engine. I can resume these batches if you like, but I thought I'd ask first. --Magnus Manske (talk) 07:12, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

hi @Magnus Manske:, thank you, I restarted the incomplete four (is it enough to click on "run" again?). I was monitoring these batches because I thought was an error on my part to start more than one at the same time. I'm new and maybe it goes without saying... but your tools are amazing : ) thanks --Divudi85 (talk) 08:01, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
hi @Magnus Manske:, sorry to bother you, just a quick question, is there a way to batch-remove a qualifier for a statement? I added a start-date (P580) and an end-date (P582) to P27 -> Kingdom of Italy (Q172579) but in some cases there already was an end-date (set at june 1946 instead of 18 june 1946). I tried to use the "minus" before qal582 but it doesn't work... Thanks anyway, bye --Divudi85 (talk) 14:46, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Repubblica Italiana e Regno d’Italia

[edit]

--Divudi85 (talk) 11:07, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I think that this point should be discussed on Property talk:P27, because, as far as I know, what happened in Italy in 1946 also happened many times in many other countries. In France, we changed from Kingdom to Republic to Empire to Kingdom to another Kingdom to Republic to Empire to Republic in less than a century between 1789 and 1876, but Victor Hugo only had one country of citizenship, France. The country does not change when the political Constitution changes. (Of course that was different before 1860, when Italy was not a unified political entity yet.) Seudo (talk) 16:15, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Seudo: (I will copy everything in the discussion on P27 and we can re-start from there with the entire community) You are right, I think I oversimplified the situation taking in consideration only the political history of Italy, properties should have consistency wherever they are applied. Just a recap... And I have questions : ) Essentially from the moment unity in a political entity is achieved P27 should be uniformed. It's ok the distinction before/after 1860 (in Italy, obvs) but the transition from kingodm to republic should be simplified. Is it for the sake of efficient querying? What if I need to query, for ex., all the people for specific profession during the kingdom. (I answer myself, I should get better at sparql-ing)... --Divudi85 (talk) 18:16, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
