“The resonance of Rowley's originality & sensitivity shines on every page. He has written a refreshing, superbly crafted novel of hard-won self-discovery filled with big, well-paced scenes & a pitch-perfect blend of humor and compassion that will charm and fully engage readers. In this refreshing, imaginative novel of self-discovery, a debut author has his work--and his life--edited by the inimitable Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.” - Shelf Awareness
It‘s been a while! WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING is #1 on the NYT list and it‘s been keeping me busy! Have you read it yet?

Every bookseller at Fountain Bookstore in Richmond stopped to pitch me this book...so I bought the book!!
The loveliest event in Asheville, NC for the amazing Jan Karon. BATHED IN PRAYER is the end of her Mitford series, so the events this week feel very bittersweet.❤️
I wish there was a rank between “pick” and “so-so” because that‘s where this would fall for me. Great writing, interesting characters, but the story didn‘t grab me. This is out in February and you‘ll no doubt see it everywhere, so I‘m excited to see what everyone else thinks!
(And this is Gus, my Newfie 🐻)
My professional advice: always be nice to your assistant...because when they move on and become amazing book publicists, they‘ll keep sending you great books! 😜😉😍💪🏻
Steven Rowley, author of LILY AND THE OCTOPUS, was in the office this week for his new book, THE EDITOR! Out in April 2019 - we love it so much!
Spotted at Mysterious Bookshop last night! Have you ever seen a better title? 😂
Loved this beautiful book...and my best friend Reese did too! 😜 WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING is Reese‘s Book Club pick for September! 🌾🛶
“Fierce and hauntingly beautiful....An astonishing debut.” - People Magazine on WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING by Delia Owens 🦐🌾❤️
“Winman has crafted something of a small miracle here. Though the novel clocks in at a only little over 200 pages, so much is contained in it — it‘s like a literary version of a Tardis. It seems impossible that it all fits, yet the slow build of emotion and the cascade of quiet, well-earned tears are testament to how rich this meditation on love, art, loss and redemption truly is.” — a rave review from the New York Times Book Review for TIN MAN!
Out TODAY!

The verdict is still out on this one, but it looks pretty on a (needed) vacation! ✈️🇫🇷
When you tell your publishing peeps you‘re going on vacation...which do I take!?
He told us how it ends.

3.5/5⭐️ Beautiful writing, but heartbreaking and ultimately not a completely engrossing story.
I need something lighter — love quirky stories like LESS and ELEANOR OLIPHANT. What do you recommend? Has anyone read CIRCE?
(And this is my 6am reading buddy, Gus. Newfie puppy. 🐻)
Excellent & heartbreaking. I definitely understand the comparisons to A Little Life and Hearts Invisible Furies, but this definitely has more of a plot (and that‘s not a criticism of those two books, I loved them). 💔❤️
Torn about this one. I really liked the story and finished in one sitting; however, I wanted her to dive deeper into the racial issues and the ending was a little too tied in a bow, even though she tried hard for it NOT to be. That probably doesn‘t make sense if you haven‘t read it! But the writing was really strong! 🤷🏼♀️
!!! Jimmy Fallon started a summer book club and has narrowed his choices down to 5 books, including THE IMMORTALISTS by Chloe Benjamin! I know, I know, you thought I was done talking about this book...but GO VOTE! How often is fiction covered on national TV?! (I can tell you, not that often!) Link below, ends next Thursday!

Last one! With the lovely Lyndsay Faye, who signed copies of JANE STEELE and her new book, THE PARAGON HOTEL (out in January) at BookCon! Wish I had taken a photo of the insane signing line....
Can‘t believe I didn‘t post anything from BEA! Maybe because I literally lived at Javits for 3 days. Who else was there!? (This is the Putnam publicity team! 🐧)
This just arrived in my mailbox from an old assistant and I may have screamed! LOVE Barbara Kingsolver.
At the Free Library of Philadelphia with John Sandford!
4.5/5⭐️
Wonderful writing, quirky characters, and...Provence. What more would you want?
“The latest Davenport novel is one of the best in an always-strong series. Given the current geopolitical reality, it‘s timely, too, and the conclusion is a rockin‘ “didn‘t see that coming” beauty." — Booklist
I‘ve been hearing it a lot this week that TWISTED PREY is one of John Sandford‘s best! Out today!
This makes me crazy happy!!! I LOVED this book!
“With all the feels of a This Is Us episode, Hyde‘s latest novel will delight readers." —Booklist bit.ly/2IrQa4B
GO ASK FANNIE by the lovely Elisabeth Hyde is out today! She‘ll be in Boulder tonight and hits the road next week!
Travel reading! All our sales reps are buzzing about this one, can‘t wait! Out from Viking in August.
Maybe I wasn‘t in the mood for a light read. Or maybe I just really didn‘t like this. 😬 🤷🏼♀️
Head over to PutnamBooks on Instagram for a chance to win an early copy of TIN MAN! (Out in the US on 5/15 - it‘s incredible) #tinmanbook

A fantastic night with Sarah Winman (in the middle!), author of TIN MAN! (Out in the US on 5/15)
“A lush debut novel, Owens delivers her mystery wrapped in gorgeous, lyrical prose. It's clear she's from this place--the land of the southern coasts, but also the emotional terrain--you can feel it in the pages. A magnificent achievement, ambitious, credible and very timely." — Alexandra Fuller
Out from Putnam in mid-August! SO good.
Chloe Benjamin was on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ last night! (photo taken from the green room!)

I‘m torn about this one! I absolutely loved the first half, but the second half felt like we were just following the characters around, waiting to see what happened. 🤷🏼♀️
Loving Pachinko already. (And so is Gus!)
The Christmas tree is coming down this weekend, I swear! 😜😬
