Good food made with love. Brought to the diverse Neighbourhood to bring cultures together and lift spirits. Make it affordable inconvenient, but not mass produced. I would love to see more fusion food trucks in every city and suburb. I hope a lot of kids read this, and that some of them start to grow their own businesses and higher locals and bring joy to their communities.

Poetic. I might have liked it when I as a child because I was interested in pioneer stories, in stories about what kinds of hard work helped people survive. But this is mostly monotone in both text & art, and therefore thin and bland. Imo. I admire those reviewers who loved it; they're better readers than I.

So much fun. Do note that it's much too long for little children, but perfect for schoolchildren learning more about rural Louisiana or Zydeco music... or if they just want a good story with lively art. Includes informative back matter.

Can't rate. I, personally, just don't like scratchboard or woodblock style illustrations and they distract me from the story. I can say this text reads like an adventure, and is a lot more fun, than the vibe that the cover implied (again, to me, personally). It is fairly simple, but not simplistic, and it does have science and backmatter. I do recommend it to any of you who are interested. I love that it gives us a feeling of hope, that nature can (to a certain extent) heal.
