Let me confess, I have no idea who Meg is. I used to watch the Hercules TV series, but I haven't seen the Disney movie. I don't remember a "Meg" in that series. It has been a while, I agree. I don't think that has anything to do with enjoying the novel. Maybe I didn't care for the narrator in the audio. Nevertheless, it was fine. It was okay. It does have a good message and does demonstrate how rash thinking and lack of patience can be a problem.

Meg and Hercules love each other. Hercules, now a god, cannot be with Meg, so Hera tells Meg that she can be a god, giving her a quest. She has a set number of days to rescue her former boyfriend's wife. Mind you, Meg gave up her soul to Hades in order to save the former boyfriend who moved on within days to this other woman. Meg doesn't have good feelings toward this woman. Meg agrees--After all, she may want to spend the rest of her life (eternity?) with Hercules. Wow, eternity. That seems like a long time with Wonder Boy, as she calls him. She agrees to the quest. She needs to sneak into Hades, find the woman, and get out without Hades knowing. Meg has a wee bit of help getting to Hades but must navigate it on her own once there.

It's a perfectly fine story. Meg rashly makes decisions but, ultimately, she has a heart and learns that she can't trust Hades (shocker!). She sees that other matter, perhaps more than she does. She's quick on her feet and knows how to negotiate.

I really enjoyed this retelling from the Disney "Twisted Tales" series. This book asks the question "What if the Evil Queen poisoned the prince?". I liked going into the backstory of the Evil Queen. As the book progressed with the familiar Snow White story we all know, I was able to envision things because of the animated classic. So, I loved how they went hand and hand.

The conclusion of the book seemed like it took a bit too long to wrap everything up. But, I did really enjoy it.

Definitely a fun installment in the Disney "Twisted Tales" series. This one asks the question "What if Anna and Elsa never knew each other?".

The first half of the book has a completely different storyline from the film, about halfway through you begin to find the book storyline and the film storyline coming together. At that point it begins to feel like you are reading the film in book form.

Of course, that didn't matter to me at all. I enjoyed the characters and loved the author's take on the Frozen storyline.… (more)
