My friend Andre has been keeping me update about how Cassandra Clare making mistakes with the Shadowhunter world.

I haven't read enough of her books to be knowledgable on the subject (thank god), but I wouldn't be surprised

I think she said something about another series once, but I guess that takes backseat to this crappy world she already has.

I hope it's not another rip-off of a popular series-_-

I'm sure Rowling loves the Wizarding world, seeing as how she created Pottermore to post extra info on. But she didn't write another series because it was done. She knows it and the fans grudgingly accept it. She donated most of the profits from all the companion pieces she wrote (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages, The Tales of Beedle the Bard to charity. That is an extremely classy thing to do and effectively shuts up 'cash cow' call. Clare? Not so much.

And Clare can write whatever she wants, as long as it stops ripping off Harry Potter.

Personally I'm not a fan of this authors works, but many authors continue to write in the same world and don't get the hate she does. Eg Terry Pratchett. I wonder if it's bc her work is not considered good, or bc she is female, or bc she writes YA which is mostly read by females. Who knows.

Part of it is because she ripped off Harry Potter. Shadowhunters used to be HP fanfiction.

Trust me, gender and sex have nothing to do with the criticism. It is all about the quality of writing, her ripping off others, her lack of creativity and especially her virtue signalling.
At least that was the reason for me.

I don't follow anything she does so she could be a horrible person for all I know, but shadow hunters didn't seem much like Harry potter to me. Nothing can be truly unique. I definitely do agree that she is not the best writer.

Criticizing a book is not hating. Why is literary criticism a thing? Because we have a right as consumers to criticize the things we buy. An opinion is personal and should be respected. If I buy it, I can criticize it!
