He ripped off a length of bags. “Go on inside. I’ll take care of this.”
“Y-you’re going to clean up my trash?”
“Someone has to.” He started shoving trash into the bag with an abundance of energy and a whole hell of a lot of whistling.
She set her load beside the door. “I’ll help.”
He divided the bags and handed her some. Then he grinned, damn him. “Let’s see what you got.”"

One corner of his mouth twitched, and she expected that lopsided grin to sprout. Instead, he crooked his finger. “Come here. I want to test a theory.”
She straightened and scooted over an inch.
“Closer.”
Another inch.

She was practically nose to nose with him. Then the grin did sprout. “That’s better.” He traced the line of her jaw with his finger, making her skin sizzle. She closed her eyes."
