Foster

A poignant tale of an Irish girl from a poor background who spends a short time with a foster family and through whose eyes we learn about the tragedy that struck the couple some time ago. Her innocence, intelligence and experience already gained despite young age is most moving.
A big thank-you to Claire Keegan, Grove Atlantic, and NetGalley for arc in exchange for my honest review.*

When you say poignant, I believe it Beata. Am I right in thinking you enjoyed getting to know this young foster girl? Even your shorter reviews speak volumes.

Thank you, Ron :) Imagine a little girl being given away for a certain period of time to a family she doesn't know ... Through the way she notices small things around her foster parents we realize what live she lives with her family ... This is a novella written several years ago and it already shows Ms Keegan's power of depicting subtly feelings of those most vulnerable ... Beautifully written indeed! Yes, I just wanted to hold her and invite her to join my family :))

I recently read A Girl Returned, and am now reading Michael Dorris,’ A Yellow Raft in Blue Water. I wasn’t looking for the theme of children suddenly displaced into a new home, and as much as I read, I haven’t happened upon them in such succession before. But I’m loving Dorris’ book, and I loved A Girl Returned, and your review has me thinking I’d love this, too. I’m going to go with this theme that’s found me - Thank you, Beata!
Great review Beata. I'm looking for something different from my usual genres and this looks like one to read.

Jennifer, thank you! :)) Such books are hard to read, displacement of children, wherther during wars or to foster care, must be tackled with great sensitivity, however, books like Foster and the titles you mention are invaluable with regard to their needs ...
