I took every chance I got to read this book because the title and the blurb intrigued me. I liked to hunt new stories, new authors, and I'm glad this one by Abby McCarthy didn't disappoint me.
Note: This is a second chance romance.
I lived this book. Undeniably! It made me shed happy tears, sad tears, made me savor every words, and be inspired! For certain, I felt an intense magic throughout the story.
"I love you more than words. I love you more than touches. I love you more than anything."
I loved this book. All-out! I absolutely loved Lincoln and Lola. I so so much felt the intensity of their chemistry! I admired Lincoln for his never-ending love, for his sacrifices, for his softheartedness. He was such a unique hero. Rarely can be found. Lola too was as great as Lincoln. She was patient, unselfish, and loving. To my standpoint, they are a dream couple.
Lola and Lincoln met during a football game. Lola was 15, Lincoln was 18. They begun their friendship then that developed to love. When Lola was 16, Lincoln left for army. Lincoln, as years passed by, promised to give her a better future. But, one mistake, one decision, had set them apart and changed them forever.
"I love you more than words. I love you more than touches. I love you enough to say goodbye."
I was a bit conflicted in the half of the story because Lincoln didn't do anything to win Lola's heart again. But, I realized near-ending that the one who needs to make effort was Lola. Lincoln did what was right, unwillingly sacrificed the one whom he loved the most.
The Last Goodbye is a hands down second chance romance. Beautifully written, beautifully conveyed, beautifully portrayed, and beautifully ended. A high praise to Abby McCarthy for writing a book like this!
Overall, I absolutely enjoyed the story! Such a great book for Christmas! Taught us the only thing that could help us survive any challenges — by being with each other.

My love for this one never ceases even the second time! I've never read a more passionate book than this masterpiece. If you haven't read this yet, what are you waiting for? I won't write a long-ass review why I loved this book because I know words can't do it justice. But, if you are sensitive to cheating in any way, shape, or form, unfortunately, this is not for you.

"You loved me once, and I hope that someday, you find someone worthy of all you have to give.”
Serenity shut out herself from romantic relationships after losing someone she loved fourteen years ago. After her last heartbreak, she vowed to never let herself attached with another man again. Serenity was a gynecological oncologist whose greatest mission was to find cure for ovarian cancer. She got her inspirations from her mother who died from the said condition.
Westin was a neurosurgeon at the same hospital Serenity was working. He was in a "beneficial" relationship with her for two years now. Westin wanted more. But because he was Westin, he waited two years for her. He showed her along the way that he was sincere and he was different from the man who left her fourteen years ago. When Serenity eventually started to lower her walls and let Westin in, someone who could ruin everything was back. But it was up to Serenity to decide what she's willing to risk. Her heart and her career or the person who needed her the most.
“You know, when a man truly loves a woman, he’ll never move on. We all have that one person. Sometimes we marry them, spending an eternity trying to prove we’re good enough for her. Other times, we lose them and spend our lives wondering how we were so stupid to let that woman go."
Before you think of the worst, there is no emotional or physical cheating between the main characters or any characters. Also, there is no smut, sorry to disappoint. No problem though, their chemistry will save your day. If you are looking for stories with soulful characters, riveting storyline, and serene ending. Plus, angst-fest, nerve-racking, and definitely capable of making your pretty eyes bloodshot, I promise you this is your book.
Now, let's have a conversation regarding our main characters. Serenity was a strong and determined woman. Every choice she made was selfless and I adored her so much for that. Serenity defines life itself and that family is always first no matter what. Westin, on the other hand, was a deeply devoted and patient man. The fact that he'd been faithful to Serenity for two years without any reason to solidified his character for me. He was a man of showing not only telling.
“I would die for you, Ren. Do you know that?”
Moreover, I would like to include Bryce in the conversation. He's that important in the story and I really want to say my thoughts and feelings about him. Frankly, I had a hard time liking him. I blamed him for everything that happened between him and Serenity. I found his reasons ridiculous and immature. I hated him for not waiting. He simply had to wait. It was simple as that. Serenity's mother was fighting for cancer at that time and he should have supported her decisions by waiting, but sadly he didn't. He said he truly loved her but it wasn't the real love kind of thing. Regardless, Bryce was young and his actions was absolutely understandable. Eventually, I liked him at the end.
“Don’t ever allow someone else the power to break you. The man you love, the one you share your heart with, should always treat it with care. He shouldn’t forsake it.”
It was emotional watching these characters developed, especially Serenity. Her journey to finding herself was heartwarming. It was an utter joy seeing her having closure with the past and forgave herself and had total acceptance.
Lastly, without the other characters, this book would not end up like this. The worth-mentioning names are: Mrs. Whistley and her son John for showing us the importance of time. Allison and Bryce, for showing us that there is always hope, just smile, and second chances in love is without limits. Rich and his wife Ester for showing us what the real love kind of thing is. And Mick and Everton, Serenity's father and younger brother, for showing us that it may be impossible to recover from the greatest loss of our lives, but it will always be possible if we are together.
Overall, I extremely loved the book. Every character in this story are three-dimensional and each serves a purpose. Gorgeous writing Corinne Michaels style and unique storyline. This story should not be missed.
I highly recommend this to those who loves romance with life.

This is a completely captivating book. Two woven love stories set on the past and the present, a5 Stars!
... The then meets the now and the future.
This is a completely captivating book. Two woven love stories set on the past and the present, and was told through two different point of views, Emma and Amelia. It was a truly special story seasoned with exceptional characters and the extraordinary lives they have led.
Note: This is a contemporary romance.
“Love is stronger than hate,”
It all started with an old diary hidden under the bed. Amelia was dying and she trusted her granddaughter, Emma, to keep her untold past. Through Amelia's words, we were brought back on January of 1942. It was the year the Nazis occupied Czechoslovakia, where 17 years old Amelia once lived. It was also the year when she met a young German soldier named Charlie who changed her life forever.
"I knew I would never be the same again, but at least I could rest knowing there was one good man amongst so many terrible ones. Humanity was not entirely lost."
Historical. A forbidden love story between a German soldier and a Jew.
Words are not enough to express how their story made me feel. Charlie and Amelia means everything to me. Charlie was an amazing young man. A real hero. To try to follow the things he did for Amelia required the bravest of hearts. I'm gladly taking my hat off for the things he worked out to survive the love they had for each other. Fiction or not, people like Charlie and Amelia, who fought hard for someone they truly love earns my great respect.
"Sometimes, even the toughest warriors who survive the odds and somehow escape the shadows of death, can still fall helpless and weak at the mercy of love."
Contemporary. A love story between a cardiologist and a designer.
What to say? Not only Charlie and Amelia stole the spotlight, but Jackson and Emma shined the brightest as well. They were absolutely adorable together. They weren't perfect. They were humans with flaws. They were someone who both went through bad relationships. But with each other on their sides, they learned how to be the best versions of themselves.
Overall, I extremely loved the book. It was equally tragic and charming and hopeful and full of love. It was angsty and heartbreaking and simply all the emotions. But in the end, it was all worth it. I am so glad I took a chance on this story because it is something that will stay with me for a long time. I urge everyone to also give this one a try.
Charlie:
“I fought to stay alive so I could come back for you. My eyes were opened to the destruction this world is living through, and I couldn’t leave you here alone.”
Jackson:
“I’ve always been under the impression that the bond between two people is something that grows over time, but I’ve been wrong. I think it all starts with a connection and grows into something more than I can comprehend at this moment.”
Trigger Warning: Vivid depiction of everything regarding war.

... The lotus chronicles.
I started this book while on the road from Trondheim to Bodø. I was supposed to spend those hours taking a nap because I had to drive the next hours. But fuck all of it because I needed Oliver's story after I finished the other epic one by the same author, Still Beating. I have visited Bodø a lot of times. That city in Northern Norway—that not a single tourist I've met spoke about—never fails to knock me off of my feet every time. Like Lotus. This book that amazed me, captivated me, and proved to me how beautiful it was must be also discovered by many.
Note: This is a friends to lovers romance.
"...We’re a fucked-up, complicated species prone to self-sabotage, baseless insecurities, and the notion that there’s always something better around the corner. We’re constantly chasing imaginary destinations, thinking we’re missing out, wanting more. We’re never truly present.”
Oliver had escaped captivity after being locked up for almost 22 years. Sydney was stunned beyond belief hearing this news. Inseparable since kids, these two characters should learn to navigate the new world they were living in, together. Sydney and her past world. A world with her long lost best friend on her side. And Oliver and his strange world. Rediscovering himself and the actual world he never knew.
I simply loved this book. The promise of the story lured me wide-awake most of the ride that ended up me like a zombie trekking the mountains the day after. The romance gripped me. The suspense hooked me. The twists and turns stunned me the same way every time I visit the maelstroms of Saltstraumen. And Oliver and Sydney as individuals inspirited me. They were truly a moving portrayal of never ending love and hope. Striving to reach the end of the tunnel with undying love as armors in the most toughest situations. Oliver was an extremely vulnerable character, with childlike innocence, and possessing true heroic characteristics that I found endearing.
"The sensation of another human being so intimately entwined—the palpable connection, thick and heady. It’s more than physical. It’s more than surface-deep. It’s unparalleled."
Overall, I extremely loved the book. Another book by this author that I added as favourites. Immersive writing, utterly consuming storytelling with riveting storyline, uplifting romance, beautifully devastating characters, and most importantly, available on Kindle Unlimited. This is a true inspirational love story and so much more. This is a true inspirational love story, Jennifer Hartmann's unique version. A story that distinguishes fake from genuine human emotions in the midst of tragedy.
I recommend this to those who likes: Jennifer Hartmann, friends to lovers, captive, dark, romantic suspense, emotional read, and a happily ever after.
"I close my eyes and make a wish. I wish on fireworks, on every shooting star, on birthday candles and dandelion seeds. I wish to the man in the sky with all my heart, with each tumbling tear ... I wish for tomorrow and the tomorrow after that. I wish for all the tomorrows ... with her."
I highlighted almost half of the book. And I love to share some of my favourite lines. So, if you are in the mood to read, here are a few:
"She is, by far, the most perplexing, endearing, complicated, beautiful, and charming human I’ve come across so far."
"Taking a seat along the side of the bed, I fold my hands in my lap and wait, glancing absently around the room. My eyes land on her bedside table, distracted for a moment by the hypnotizing lava lamp, then shift to a novel with a bookmark peeking out halfway through. There’s an oddly shaped device sitting atop the book that has me furrowing my brows with curiosity. That curiosity gets the better of me, and I reach for the object, studying it with a mix of intrigue and bewilderment. My thumb hits a button and the contraption bursts to life, buzzing and vibrating in my hands. I let go, startled, and it clatters to her hardwood floor, causing a ruckus. It must be some kind of electronic massager. Fascinating."
“It’s important to have people in our corner, rooting for our successes, ... And sometimes we need to be our own cheerleaders.” My eyes case her thoughtful expression. “How so?” “We need to fight for what’s in our hearts. No one else can do that for us,” she tells me pointedly. “And if there is anything on this earth worth fighting for, it’s love.”
"I love her, so entirely, so painfully ... She is my favorite part of me."
“It’s hard to break someone who has already experienced the worst out of life."

... A story of Emmett the thief.
I firmly believe that you cannot judge someone if you've never experience what they went through. You can always voice your opinion but it's not a fact. I am not a father. Nor I haven't love another with all my heart and soul. I've never stole a girl. I've never been married, neither been divorced. And I've never watched a loved one falling in love with someone. I couldn't judge Emmett and Tatum because I simply have no idea how marriage and divorce works. But I came to watch a show. I sat on a couch and expected a show that would bring a lot of tears, heartaches, and love. I laughed, angered, annoyed, and shed tears at times. But I never fully felt the love that was supposed to be so deep and so firm, mutually. The love that never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Note: This is a second chance romance.
"No matter how undeserving one might feel of forgiveness, no one is unworthy of it."
Jewel Ann created characters that were filled with flaws and imperfections. They felt real and human. They were characters that loves, fights, and separates. Absolutely normal. Emmett portrayed an extremely steadfast and loving husband and father. I found him as a man who could freely offer his happiness for the happiness of the people he loves. Tatum, on the other hand, was portrayed as a wife who loves her children, who loves her husband, but who had forgotten what it means to love in the face of tragedy.
“Everything I did ... was for Lucy.”
I have an older brother who is happily married for eight years now and has a five year old daughter. I asked him, "I had this story that I've just finished a while ago about a husband divorcing his wife because she couldn't look at him anymore without remembering their loss. What would you do if you're in his shoes?" He asked me why I questioned him that. I said just answer the question, that he was more experienced in life than me. After a while, my brother said, "the same thing." I uttered back, "you'd just let your eight-year marriage to go to waste? Don't you love her? Why let go?" He replied, "You've got to do what is right, it would hurt me to let her go, but it would hurt me more if I let her suffer because I couldn't let her go. Bro, that's love, you need to learn to choose what is always right." I hated my brother for saying that, because he loves his wife. I just couldn't fathom how. But I eventually understood my brother. His opinion was valid and matters to me the most.
"Would she ever know I chose her in the moment? Would she ever know that giving her an out was the greatest love I could give her? I never imagined losing Tatum would be my most selfless act of love."
This story was so important, and was so well-written, and utterly unsafe. I love Jewel Ann's writing. It's just too easy to follow and the pacing was extremely well-done. My biggest issue was that I expected a very emotional one. The blurb promised me an all the feelings book. But I wasn't that heartbroken with the story. I didn't care that they divorced. I didn't feel empathy and pity watching Emmett watching his wife kissed another man. I wasn't that brokenhearted simply by him suffering. I felt like he needed to move on and forget his wife who never deserved him. But he loved his wife very much. I couldn't compete with that and I admired him because of that.
Me, that who would never go through divorce felt like that divorce thing was so easy in the story. Divorce, in my opinion, is final. The end of both of your stories. But I felt like they decided to divorce straightaway for the sake of story. They didn't confide. They kept their feelings, especially the heroine. If you divorce, there is no going back, right? Then why withhold something? I understood that Tatum has her flaws. Grief can totally drown and blind you. But I couldn't feel her on a deeper level. I couldn't love her as she was; as a mother who suffered a very loss. I also didn't feel the depth of her love for Emmett. I found it ridiculous that she made him choose between her and their children. Love is immeasurable. Love is equal. Love is unconditional.
I also disliked that she didn't fight for their marriage. I felt that she just willingly accepted it and looked for another man to love to use to forget everything that happened and be happy. It's just a bit unbelievable to me how fast a person could find someone to love and settle down if she still love that person; and that person is alive. Jewel Ann skillfully yet tragically addressed a lot of focal points that is happening in our society.
"I don’t know what the timeframe is for unloving someone. It’s not five years. Not for me."
What I anticipated the most in the story was the part when Lucy would finally tell her mother about the secret. I expected a gut-wrenching, full of regret and guilt scene from Tatum. However, I felt deprived. After every cruel thing that she said to Emmett. That she wished. They only just talked it out and made out. She was so lucky her ex-husband was too forgiving. After Lucy told her the truth, I went from loving the story to disliking it. I didn't like Tatum's reasoning and for blaming Emmett their divorce and for blaming him letting her fall in love with someone. How could she not see the sacrifice that he did for their daughter and for her? Emmett indeed has his fault on his side, but the way she acted and the things she said, I could use a bit more groveling from her.
Also, I didn't like that she cheated and left her fiance who she loved for the other person that she loved the more. I understand that we all need happily ever after. But the way it was dealt was unfair. Can we write a reconciling story without cheating? Plus, can we not romanticize it in front of our children?
Overall, I enjoyed the book. It was such a unique and captivating story that defines what it means to love and to learn to forgive. I salute Jewel Ann for having the courage to write this story. I liked her story in its entirety. I liked her characters. There's just something missing that hindered me to emotionally connect with it. I'm not judging. This isn't a fact. But if there's one thing I am absolutely sure of; this is a special show.
I recommend this to those who likes: Jewel E. Ann, second chance, romantic suspense, emotional read, and a happily ever after.

This was definitely epic. This is a story that proves that love is limitless. A story that tells that if you truly love a person, second chances might be doubtful, but forgiveness is always possible. A story that says that if you truly love a person, you never give up with that person so easily. And that if you truly love a person, there's nothing in this vast expanse of universe that you wouldn't do to make that person happy. B.N. Toler wrote a heartbreaking yet hopeful story about second chances at love and life. She made a great job creating such characters that touches deeply and was so real. This was definitely epic. A story that brings out a myriad of emotions is epic. An author who can write such story that can change many people lives is epic.

“Life’s too short to be subtle.”
This book tells the story of Paul, Clara, and their daughter, Neena. A 12 year old girl who was diagnosed with leukemia. A girl who was desperately seeking for Epic. A girl who posted this:
DESPERATELY SEEKING EPIC
You’re my father. I don’t know much about you. I know your name is Paul James, you’re a thrill seeker, and once upon a time you did stunts and people called you ‘Epic.’ I’ve been told you don’t know about me. That it’s complicated. But for me it’s simple. Here’s the thing: I’m twelve years old . . . and I’m dying. And as much as this could crush my mother, I have to meet you before I go. In time, I’m sure she’ll understand. She’s still in love with you. So, Epic, if you read this, please come back. You don’t have to be my dad. You don’t even have to tell me you love me or you’re sorry. Just come see me. Patiently waiting, but running out of time,
Neena
That. Broke. My. Heart. After reading that in the blurb, I couldn't not add this book in my reading list.
"I’ve been around the world and seen some of the most beautiful places, but nothing compares to seeing her laugh."
Paul, Clara, Neena, and Marcus were definitely memorable characters. I admired Clara for her loyal heart, for her simply being a loving mother for her dying daughter, and for not giving up easily. I admired Paul for his authenticity, for his sincerity, and for the depth of his character. He has reasoning that some might not be able to understand or accept, but I appreciated him. I was deeply connected with his character. I admired Neena for her strength. For being the instrument that made her parents realized what they both missed out on when they learned to forgive and accept each other again. She showed them their mistakes. The aftermath of it all. And she proved to them that there is nothing "too late" in this world. I admired Marcus for being the best of the best friend they could ever ask. He was small, literally, but his contribution with the story, was measureless.
B.N. Toler brought these characters to life with heart and soul. I felt the conviction in her words when she said, "We can never know true compassion without tragedy." She clearly delivers a message that we should not be deter by sad books. Because in the end, there is always a promise, a hope, that everything will be alright.
“I don’t know what you see when you look in the mirror, Clara. But I see a woman that has danced in and out of my mind for the past thirteen years. A woman that no matter how hard I tried, I could never replace. I have never wanted another woman the way I want you, then and now. And here you are, beautiful and nervous. No more holding back. I need you. I. Want. You."
The chemistry between Paul and Clara was heart pounding. There was a good amount of sexual tension between them. I felt the love, lust, and attraction they had towards one another. They did not only grow emotionally, but they were also well-developed physically.
Overall, I absolutely loved the book. This is a story that you need to prepare a plenty of tissues before you dive in. If you like gut-wrenching, emotional, funny at times, character-driven, second chance stories, this book was written just for you.
I extremely recommend this to those who likes: B.N. Toler, second chance, enemies to lovers, secret child, emotional read, and a happily ever after.

This is a story in its purest, rawest form. I wasn't expecting this book to barge into my life and instill emotions that was truly stirring and drowning. This was a simple story with a simple storyline that was centered around 'fate' trope yet full of love and sheer magnitude.

“Sometimes goodbyes lead to a second chance.”
Thirteen Hours To You is the first book in the Sometimes Goodbye ls A Second Chance duet.
Radley's life changed forever when she was raped. It broke her heart when she found out that she was pregnant. And completely devastated her soul when she decided to abort her pregnancy. Radley made things that she couldn't ever forgive herself. Things that forced her 17 year old self to be an adult. What should she have chosen? Bring her baby to life and be always reminded of the worst day of her life? Or kill her baby, her half, for herself, so she could move forward without a living reminder?
Meekai's life changed when he finally met his purple-eyed girl. His dream. His fate. His missing piece. But was he, was he prepared for Radley?
“What if I’m not everything you want me to be?” “What if you are?” he questioned in response ... What if you’re absolutely everything I need?”
Every page of this book held a significant amount of emotion that won't leave you unscathed. There were parts in the story that was sentimental, but it's love. There were parts in the story that was cheesy, but it's affection. They were pieces of emotions that made this story as a whole. I liked that the author wrote with such vividness and detailedness. I Ioved her writing, from its simplicity and lyricalness.
I was utterly unprepared by Meekai. He must be one of the most romantic heroes I've met. His words. His actions. By the way he treated Radley. By giving her control with their relationship, as well as guiding her. By his "two weeks, only best friend, no kissing, no staring in the butt law." By his voice and passion with music. By simply waiting. By becoming. By changing for the best. He was absolutely admirable. He was impossible to not love.
“I want to be your friend. I want to be your best friend. I want you to learn to trust me. I want you to know there’s nothing you could tell me that would make me turn you away. I want to know everything you allow me to know; to take it and keep it in my heart as ours. Before anything, I just want to be your best friend.”
This story is definitely a slow burn. Radley didn't make it easy for Meekai. But when she started to trust him, the cliffhanger happened. Unfortunately, to me, it was stereotyped. I've read so many books before where the main characters also fought because of it. I think, in regards with their development as a couple, Meekai developed much, whilst, Radley, somewhat. If she only just trusted Meekai. However, it was simply a matter of understanding. I understood Radley and where she came from. I just hope she will learn to fully trust Meekai as a friend and a lover.
Overall, I loved the book. Finished this days ago, but just managed to get online, so I wasn't able to post my review for this book until now. Still, this story is stuck in me. Kudos to this author for a book well done. This is available on Kindle Unlimited, by the way. I look forward to the next one and I am expecting more of her work.
I recommend this to those who likes: Annie Emerson, friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, sports, high school, second chance, emotional read, and a cliffhanger.
“Every experience you have with me will be a first. "I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough."
I've started reading romance stories when I was 14. My first book was 'A Walk to Remember' by Nicholas Sparks. I remember I've never been so heartbroken like I was when I've finished that novel. Imagine, my first ever romance book didn't end up happily. But I realized through the years, that not even a lot of happily ever afters could compare to the amazing yet short life Landon and Jamie have shared.
"I'm sorry she never got her miracle." "She did get her miracle, Landon, her miracle was you."
My second book was 'The Notebook,' a widely popular debut novel of Nicholas Sparks. It is a second chance romance, and contains a whole lot of heartaches as well. Gladly, Noah and Allie led a long life. Happily married and have kids. Remembering that novel, Noah was the best hero I've ever met. I even thought of exactly like this; "When I grow up, I want to be like him." I've never found a fictional character that was so faithful, hopeful, patient, and as real as Noah was. I've had my fair share of heroes, but Noah is still my number one.
"My Dearest Allie. I couldn't sleep last night because I know that it's over between us. I'm not bitter anymore, because I know that what we had was real. And if in some distant place in the future we see each other in our new lives, I'll smile at you with joy and remember how we spent the summer beneath the trees, learning from each other and growing in love. The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that's what you've given me. That's what I hope to give to you forever. I love you. I'll be seeing you. Noah."
My third and last book of that year was 'Dear John.' Actually, I've managed to finish three books when I was 14, and every one of it was by Nicholas Sparks. I hadn't had an enough money to purchase books at that time, but fortunately, my mother has some copies—although, unfortunately, it was limited and only every one of it was romance—on her small shelf. I think I did like romance though and Nicholas Sparks books because I've continued going into it. Anyway, let's go back to 'Dear John.' This was the most emotional book I've ever read. The MOST. There's no amount of pain and ache other books had—included the books I've read this past few years—that this book had brought. I couldn't imagine the hurt in John's heart watching Savannah, the woman he fell in love with building a family in other man's arms.
"Dear John, tell me everything. Write it all down, that way, we’ll be with each other all the time, even if we’re not with each other at all."
I don't know but after that I stopped reading for months, I think.
When I was barely 15 years old, I went back on reading his books beginning with 'A Message in the Bottle.' It was a love triangle, unrequited love kind of thing. And it didn't end up in happy ending, if you're wondering. Because it was Nicholas Sparks, I've finished it sobbing uncontrollably until I dried out. If I describe that book in one word, I would say "novelty." It was so unique, so powerful, so wonderful, and so heartwrenching. My heart died when one of the characters died. But it gave me something to hold on to; that in the middle of grief and suffering, this is where a person's hope could be tested.
"This is not a goodbye, my darling, this is a thank you. Thank you for coming into my life and giving me joy, thank you for loving me and receiving my love in return. Thank you for the memories I will cherish forever. But most of all, thank you for showing me that there will come a time when I can eventually let you go. I love you, T."
My next book was 'Nights in Rodanthe.' And then 'The Rescue.' 'The Longest Ride.' 'The Lucky One.' 'The Wedding.' 'The Choice.' 'The Last Song.' ' And lastly, 'Two by Two.' Every time I read his books, I went to my room, securely locked it, and spent 10 hours crying my eyes out. I was almost 16 when I gave up with his books. Not that I didn't enjoy it, I loved his books. But I was just a teenager who loved to read, and I didn't like my fellow lads to see my eyes bloodshot and my lips swollen from reading, so I decided to rest for a while. And it was when I was 18 when I discovered Goodreads. And found out that there are other romance books to read that wasn't like Nicholas Sparks's. But still, I always sought emotional books. Blame Nicholas.
"People want pretty much the same things: They wanted to be happy. Most young people seemed to think that those things lay somewhere in the future, while most older people believed they lay in the past."
Today, I'm really happy and so excited to continue my endeavor to read all of his books. And I've never been so glad that I chose to start with his memoir, "Three Weeks With My Brother." And as usual, I cried a lot and hard. I've never realized where and who Nicholas Sparks drew his inspiration from every time he begin to write a novel. But after finishing this, I understood where he came from. Nicholas Sparks didn't have an easy life as well. He suffered a lot of heartbreaks as much as the characters in his novels. I was so brokenhearted knowing that he wrote 'The Notebook,' 'A Walk To Remember,' 'A Message in the Bottle,' etc. while his family one after the next began to pass away. I once hated Nicholas Sparks for writing such emotional books that didn't have happily ever afters. But now, I salute him. He've been there; emotional, mental, and physical grief a man could ever endure. I have no idea how he was able to survive every one of it and could even manage to write the most epic and unforgettable romance stories ever.
Three Weeks With My Brother is a deeply moving true story about childhood, dreams, family, love, loss, faith, hope, and brotherhood. This is Nicholas and his brother Micah written novel, based from their real experiences in life. And as always, this story utterly and completely captured my heart. The mood, the writing, the characters, the story, the morals, everything it all delivers is beyond perfection.
In simple words, it was because of the influence of Nicholas Sparks that I've come to love romance stories.

... A story about loss and learning how to live again.
You may not agree with me, but Catherine Cowles can do no wrong. Leave it to her to write stories that tugs at your heartstrings, and so hopeful, and that shows what true love between a lover, a friend, and a family should be. This book was written in such an easy and expressive manner, making everything it encompasses relatable and impactful.
Note: This is a romantic suspense.
“Don’t let other people’s ignorance influence your value. You’re so much more than they could ever see."
Kenna suffered a lot of heartbreaks since a very young age. Maybe, the day she was born. The people who was supposed to take care of her and love her, were those who betrayed her, hated her, and treated her like a trash. They said, "being alone is one of the most terrifying things in the world." I couldn't agree more with that. Kenna was fortunate that even though those she loved with all her heart and soul abandoned her, she had Harriet, her best friends, and Crosby. People who cared for her and offered her a shoulder she could always lean on to. And importantly, that stays.
"People underestimated the gift of holding steady, of just being present. But I knew the truth. To stay was the greatest gift of all."
One of the things the shines the brightest about this book was the author's writing. It was easy and effortless to connect with the story and the characters because of it. I could understand the main characters on a deeper level. I saw the pain in their hearts, the uncertainty in their eyes, and the fear in their minds. The writing was absolutely captivating, a bridge to a great characterization. And with regards to the romance aspect, I am in total loss of words. It was just so freaking beautiful. Crosby and Kenna were simply gorgeous together.
Overall, I loved the book. Hell, I loved the series. I was instantly hooked since I finished Reckless Memories. It was unexpectedly great, to be honest. I was looking for an angsty and gut-wrenching second chance, and it delivered. Looking forward to the rest of the books in the series!
“Some of the most beautiful things don’t fit into a mold of perfection. Hell, I’d say perfection is pretty damn boring. Look around us. None of these islands are perfectly symmetrical, the ocean isn’t one color, that tree is growing sideways. It’s the imperfections that make them beautiful."
The beginning of this book instantly grabbed and held my interest. I adored young Ramsey and Thea,3 Stars!
... A love story bloomed under the tree.
The beginning of this book instantly grabbed and held my interest. I adored young Ramsey and Thea, and the life they both shared when they were kids. They were beautifully and well-crafted characters who both suffered through heartbreaks and losses on such a very young age. But they both able to withstand it because they had each other to put a smile on their faces. However, because nothing is perfect, I didn't like how the story turned out after that conflict.
Note: This is a friends to lovers, second chance romance.
This story was angsty, emotional, and well written. Intriguing plot that was divided into two parts; the past and the present time. I absolutely loved the past, twelve years before it all happened. But regarding the present, twelve years after it all happened, is a story that needs to be told.
"Love changes a man—even when he’s not yet a man at all."
I was unhappy and conflicted with the "after" part. I was annoyed with Ramsey's attitude towards Thea. He refused everything concerning Thea, and at first, I truly understood him. But when I found out what actually happened, I don't know if I did understand his behaviour. He should have thought of how and what he should tell Thea to make her understand why he did what he did. But, instead, he constantly pushed her away and what? Determined to let her go without telling her the truth? If not for his sister blurting out what really happened, when was he planning to tell her about the past? Although, I remember a scene after they had, you know, their thing. I think Ramsey told her that they had something needed to talk to. But when something happened, he went back to his previous self. The fuck? This hero who was full of depth and meaning became flat, unreasonable, and impossible.
Their happily ever after was plainly all Thea's effort. She never once gave up. I understood the way she behaved when she was a kid. She acted meanly towards Ramsey because she thinks like a kid. What would you expect from a kid whose mother just died? However, an adult Ramsey acting like a kid denying Thea's help, breaking their "best friend law," and pushing her away for her "own good" were what I wasn't able to accept.
"I didn’t need it to be physical with us. If keeping him as a part of my life meant not being the center of his, I could do that. Having him back was enough."
Furthermore, the ending was hurried and I think things could have been more cleared up between the main characters. And also, Thea's father was a hypocrite. I felt like he was more concerned with Nora and Ramsey than his own child who he didn't much fight for after she'd gone through a horrible thing. I really disliked him. Nevertheless, these were all subjective opinions. It was still worth a try.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. Some parts were a win for me and some parts were a failure. Thea was my heroine. I loved her so much. I was disappointed of how Ramsey became because of my love for him as a child and my expectations for him as an adult.
I recommend this to those who likes: Aly Martinez, friends to lovers, second chance, coming-of-age, enemies to lovers, slow burn, emotional read, and a happily ever after.
"He broke my leg. He broke my patience. And eventually he broke my heart. But there hasn’t been a minute that’s passed that I haven’t loved him with every single broken shard.”
Trigger Warning: Vivid depiction of sexual assault.

... Wicked delightful.
This was wicked good. Wicked entertaining. Wicked emotional. Wicked fun. Wicked hot. And wicked well-written. I hate a book that is unrealistic, and technically speaking, this was a tad fantastical. However, it cannot beat the fact that I enjoyed this book so wicked much.
Note: This is a second chance romance.
“You have very low standards, my friend.” He shrugs. “Life is too short to look for perfection.”
Victoria was a life coach and a best-selling author who went through a terrible past that made her as what she was now. She'd sworn every man and planned to make the man who shattered her heart and soul fifteen years ago pay. Parker did not recognize Victoria the first time he saw her. She changed so much, emotionally and physically. Victoria used it to her advantage. She would make him fall in love with her, destroy his reputation, and break his heart. The rest of the history you have to read to find out.
"A man as beautiful as he is is undoubtedly used to having women throw themselves at his feet. A challenge will pique his interest. And I want him piqued. I want him so piqued, the top of his head gets pointed."
I didn't understand the importance of Mexico. What she doing there, by the way? She hid? After Parker told her everything, that's what she did? And apart from Mexico, the conclusion was pretty rushed. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing, but I felt like it wasn't properly resolved. Nevertheless, I liked the story as a whole and I look forward to the rest of the series.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. I laughed out loud, and cried, and laughed out loud while crying. This book made me an idiot, and I'm educated, but I never once regretted anything though.
I recommend this to those who likes: J.T. Geissinger, second chance, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, revenge, billionaire, emotional read, and a happily ever after.
"I’ve finally realized that the only thing more damaging to your soul than hanging on to a grudge is…nothing ... Only forgiveness will set you free. Only forgiveness can heal your scars. Forgiveness not only for those who’ve wronged you but also for yourself."

... The sin of football and music.
A man who truly loves you is willing to change for you, even his name. Dare, now Keyton, was one of them. He did a lot of things, not only that, to feel like he would have a chance to earn Bay's forgiveness. Her treasured guitar. His football career. The stories behind these things was an impressive display of love, loyalty, and sacrifices. Keyton perfectly defines someone who acts, not just talks.
Note: This is a second chance, sports romance.
"If I couldn’t fix my own life, I could at least fix this for Bay. Even if I was still too broken to be the man she deserved."
The Sin of Kissing You is the second book in the Falling trilogy.
Keyton and Bay met again after four years of being apart. Keyton wanted a second chance to fix his mistakes and show Bay that he truly changed. But, they only had weeks before they went on with their own paths forever. Was it enough for him to be able to win Bay's forgiveness and love again? Unfortunately, nothing could have prepared them for the way things ended.
"I stared out the window, looking past my reflection in the window at the people walking down the tree-lined streets. They were going about their lives, visiting their friends and families, never knowing what it felt like to have to hide the secrets they’d run so hard and fast from until they passed out from exhaustion."
This is one of the best second chance romances that I've ever read. In all honesty, I'm picky when it comes to this trope. But, Keyton's regret and fierce dedication to prove that he's worthy enough for another chance was no doubt convincing. As to Bay, I loved that she found Keyton as someone she could lean on despite of the things he did to her in the past. The thought of it showed that she still believed that he loved her and would do anything for her. However, I felt like she was taking his love for granted a little too much at times. I know, I think many of y'all people will end up hating her, but hate her y'all, for all I care. I wholeheartedly understood this girl's struggles because I can personally relate with her. There's always a big room for improvement. I can feel it and I know it. Just gimme more!
Finally, I've found another one of those few stories that takes place during high school that I ended up5 Stars!
... The art of football and music.
Finally, I've found another one of those few stories that takes place during high school that I ended up loving. No bullshit and stressful drama. No immature characters. No overly familiar plotline. This was much more original than what I thought it would be. The emotions on the surface were overwhelming, in a good way. I sensed sweetness, love, pleasure, pain, hatred, and all the other feelings that I can't put into words. I felt the main characters soul deep connection and attraction for one another. I had already expected since the beginning that this would be an emotional and angsty ride, I was armored heart and mind, but, surprisingly, the story still shredded me into pieces.
Note: This is a high school, sports romance.
"I closed my eyes, pulling together the frayed edges of the blanket of my mind and cocooning myself in the musical beauty, blocking out everything except for the music and Dare."
The Art of Falling for You is the first book in the Falling trilogy.
Dare was a popular football player who wasn't dealt an easy life. Getting accepted in his college application and leaving his terrible home life were his main priorities. Bay, on the other hand, had her own struggles. She was known as "The New Girl" from the day she first met Dare and remained socially invisible ever since. Bay expressed her feelings in writing songs and singing. But when she'd lost someone she loved, she also lost her ability to sing without remembering the pain of her past.
"Maybe I could force him to feel the way he made me feel."
Their story had begun four years ago, when Dare saw her singing in her backyard. He saw the real her who carried the same grief, pain, and loneliness. Being together, though secretly, both helped them to heal. Dare gave her the strength to sing, and hearing Bay sang gave him the sense of peace and hopefulness. It had brought them together, but it was also what separated them apart.
The story has the element of slow burn that made it more interesting and engaging. It warmed my heart and broke it at the same time seeing them denying the pull they had toward each other because of the anticipation of hurting themselves when they eventually went on with their own lives.
"She was my heart. Watching her leave would be like cutting it out and letting it out in the world walking around without me."
This book wasn't all emotional, y'all know. It also has the sweetest moments, angsty moments, swoon-worthy moments, and the hottest moments that I think you won't want to miss. Well, I don't have anything to say about this book that I didn't like. What can I say? I have yet to read a book by Maya Hughes that I don't enjoy. I loved her writing. I loved her stories. I loved her characters, especially her unlikely paired characters that she always manage to develop and connect so well, internally and externally.
Overall, I absolutely loved the book. It was such an amazing start and I want more of Dare and Bay. Bring on the next one!
I highly recommend this to those who likes: Maya Hughes, high school, sports, slow burn, friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, second chance, emotional read, and a cliffhanger.

... True love exactly looks like this.
This was almost an epic read for me. It started off solid, but, unfortunately, the author failed to consistently manage the emotions in the story. I couldn't put it down, but when I reached around 60% mark, I wasn't able to fully connect with the main characters and I started to question everything that was happening. But, but, and so many buts before you plan to remove this one on your tbr list, let me explain first why you shouldn't.
Note: This is a coming-of-age, friends to lovers romance.
Gaze and Pixie first met when they were 12 years old and instantly became inseparable. They both went through hard times but they had each other to rely on and sought comfort to. Until one day, when Pixie was forced to make a decision that would change their lives forever.
"Gaze got a future or I got one. I picked Gaze."
This was an emotionally tragic book that was so beautifully written. I could picture every moment so clearly and detailedly from the day they met, the day they stole a ramp, the days they played ball in front the window of their apartments, the day they went to Poughkeepsie, the days Pixie defended Gaze from bullies using a bat, and to the day when Gaze was tore apart from Pixie. Everything in the first half was absolutely perfect for me.
"... Right now? I’m choosing you. You’re first. From now until the end of time. Or whenever you’re done with me. I’m yours.”
The second half of the story, however, wasn't able to hold my interest. It became easy and simple, and there were things that I felt like wasn't given much explanations. How those things happened and why did it happen were my main concerns. I once thought if it was just me who noticed those stuffs, but, thankfully, some reviews that I looked at supports my opinions.
Also, I felt like the author was tiptoeing around Pixie's issue. We witnessed every horrible detail of the hero's abuse, but why we weren't provided any of the heroine's side? I needed to create a mental picture of everything she went through and the trauma it caused her in order for me to be able to connect with her sufferings and fully understand her situation. I didn't need clues here and there that wasn't that much convincing.
I don't and won't discourage y'all to read this book. I truly liked it, adored it, and enjoyed it. To those out there who loves a story that focuses about childhood friends and believes in the strength of genuine friendship, loyalty, and family should give this one a definite chance. Gaze and Pixie both found a home in each other's arms. A home is where a person's heart belongs. My heart belongs to these characters for probably a long time.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. It was a powerful and important story that acknowledges one of the most-happened issues all around the world.
A septillion thank you to Veronica for bringing this story to my attention. I owe you a big one, my friend!
I recommend this to those who likes: Debra Anastasia, friends to lovers, slow burn, dark, second chance, taboo, emotional read, and a happily ever after.

A new hit by Amy Harmon! Right now guys, I am struggling putting into words how the story made 5 Stars!
... Tell me your stories, Benny and Esther.
A new hit by Amy Harmon! Right now guys, I am struggling putting into words how the story made me feel. If I say, "I really loved it," I feel like it isn't enough to convince y'all to read this. The one thing that I know for sure, and that is, as fellow musicians, though I'm only a part-timer, Benny and Esther touched me. I felt him. I felt her. I felt them. I felt their music, collaboration, dynamics, and voices. And for me, it was beyond enough.
Note: This is an interracial, historical romance.
"Chords are like families. The notes go together. Like you and your father and your aunts and uncles and all your cousins. There. Hear that? Isn’t that beautiful? That’s an F chord. F for famiglia. But listen . . . let’s add a stranger. See? It doesn’t sound so good. That note doesn’t belong in the F chord."
The story was told in Benny's point of view, and was set in 1960's. Actually, I am not a fan of historical romances. But when I saw that it's Amy Harmon's, my tbr could go to hell! I loved how the story showed America's ugly and beautiful period. It was really vivid. I wasn't even born then, but I was brought there, by words, by the power of this story.
Benny Lament was a songwriter and a musician. He first saw Esther when his father brought him to watch her perform. Their talent drew them together. They created songs together. They faced challenges together. They fell in love together. But, interracial couple to be together?
Love begets change. Benny and Esther both fought for it!
"How do you make the world care, Benny?" "You tell them your story.”
This book dealt with sensitive matters, and I loved the way Amy Harmon treated these topics with respect, and providing accurate, and thorough informations. What can I say, her writing was excellent. Every character was well-developed and had significantly contributed to the flow of the story.
In all honesty, I could finish this book in a day, if it wasn't because of our examinations. This was a page-turner. A riveting story about love, family, commitment, and the choices a man makes that can create "change."
"For better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, in black and in white, we managed to build our famiglia with all the shards and pieces we brought with us."
Overall, I absolutely loved the book. I laughed with Benny and Esther's banter. I was soothed by their music. I shed tears of joy because despite of people treating them with such hatred and unfairness, they continued to show the world with love and determination what change looked like.
I extremely recommend this to those who likes: Amy Harmon, historical romance, interracial romance, slow burn, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, romantic comedy, emotional read, and a happily ever after.

If y'all ask me to pick five books by different authors, I would definitely grab Brittainy Cherry's. Her previous works ticked all the boxes I love about romance, and she'd written one of my all-time favourite books. She's just one of it! And even if Southern Storms a miss; still, I look forward to her other books.
“The best thing in life that we can ever do is be brave enough to love."
Southern Storms is the first book in the Compass series, and can be read as a standalone.
Jax and Kennedy both went through a loss that shattered their lives forever. They're both blaming themselves, and were currently in the process of healing. When they met again—yes, again, you heard that right—they both eventually realized that the love they had for each other ever since, was the long-lost healing piece of their broken hearts.
"...When I think about love, I think about you.”
I don't think I fully connected with the main characters. I really tried, but it was just hard. I wasn't that much immersed in the story because it focused more on the personal development of Jax and Kennedy. I couldn't relate with them because of the fact that I've never been traumatized. Yes. I admit. My life is pretty boring. That's why I expected something that would pain me, something that is emotionally exhausting. Because guys, it's Brittainy Cherry, what would I expect?
Most of the supporting characters were loveable. The nosy neighbours are included in the group because you know, without them, Kennedy's life in Havenbarrow wouldn't be interesting. Along with it, Yoana's unconditional love with her sister got me in the heart. Joy's belief, “I go where the love is," deeply moved me. I laughed out loud with Connor's humour. And Eddie's support and guidance, and the story behind "anal beads" was inspirational. Don't ask. Anyway, these characters saved the story for me somehow.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. Sadly, nothing is new that made me love it. Same ole, same ole Brittainy Cherry style. However, on the bright side, I think I would love this one if it's my first book by this author. Can't wait for Connor's story though!
I recommend it to those who likes: Brittainy C. Cherry, friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, slow burn, emotional read, and a happily ever after.

"If you don’t expect anything, then everything will be a miracle."
Ripley Van Winkle and Katrina Van Tassel were childhood friends. They'd been with each other's company for so long. But Ripley was forced apart from Katrina because of social status and expectations. When he found out that he was betrayed by the people who he treated as "friends," he began to question everything. I once told him, "Just follow your heart Rip, and you will never be lost," and I was sure he'd heard it because it was exactly what he did.
An accident shattered Ripley's life forever. When he woke up from a coma, it was 20 years after, and everything and everyone he'd known had changed. But there was a girl who remained constant; who never stopped losing hope; who sitted by his side every chance she got; and who he once left behind but never once gave up on him.
“Love is never lost,” he recited, staring into her green eyes and still mesmerized, after all these years, by their beauty and strength. “You never gave up on me. On us. You are the definition of constancy, of hope, of faith, of devotion. You are the definition of love, Katrina Van Tassel."
This book was purely magical. The characters were filled with love and hopefulness. I was instantly a fan of them. Katrina captivated me with her strength and devotion, and Ripley inspired me in so many ways. I was heartbroken by their struggles, but I was awe-inspired by their battles through time. It wasn't an easy war, but they won, and got the most beautiful happy ever after they both deserved.
Overall, I extremely loved the book. I couldn't help but love these characters, main and supporting. I couldn't help but enchanted by Katy Regnery's spellbinding words. And I couldn't help but give this book the stars it all deserves.
I absolutely recommend this to those who likes: Katy Regnery, slow burn, friends to lovers, fairytale, emotional read, and a happy ever after.
ARC received from the author - this is my honest opinion.
