i do concede that the title is a little misleading since 80% of this book is us, the readers, reading (and exasperating over) an entited, self-centered dolly alderton making bad choices about men and being a lowkey intolerable person to be around, and always using the excuse of "being young". nevertheless, i appreaciated the (few) bits where she seriously self-reflected on her relationship with the world, with herself, and above all, seeking professional help. i regret that this book wasn't the life-changing piece of writing that was promoted to me, but i appreciated the entertainment that it provided for a couple of days (however, i don't think i could have beared young dolly's incessible irratibility for longer than a couple of days, so kudos to her friends)...more

"Don't say anything, because I see that you understand me, and I am afraid of your understanding. I have such a fear of finding another like myself, and such a desire to find one! I am so utterly lonely, but I also have such a fear that my isolation be broken through, and I no longer be the head and ruler of my universe. I am in great terror of your understanding by which you penetrate into my world; and then I stand revealed and I have to share my kingdom with you."
