The hero, Jasper This is one of the book whereby the action and fast pacing of the plot drew me into the story. I just need to know what happen next!
The hero, Jasper is not everyone cuppa. He is an immortal hitman with no moral. He came off really offensive and class A jackass, is not even the lovable kind. Even his POV don't endear his personality to me. If he mentioned one more time how he wanted to sink his cock into the heroine thigh, I will sink a knife into his gut. It really takes time for me to warm up to him.
The heroine, Max is a Healer who used to be held prisoner by this villain, Drake. Due to the abuse she endure, she pretty much a very close off and reserve. Now living under the protection of Xamien, she is hiding her identity and avoid being found by Drake.
When Jasper barged into Max's life, he stir up all her well-kept emotion. This guy simply pissed her off and make her want to scream for the first time in years. He is rude, offensive and dangerous. But she also felt desire as a woman for the first time and not some fragile possession to be use for her power.
With Drake and his minion hunting after Max, Jasper was hired to make sure she doesn't fall into the enemies hand and if worst come to worst, he had to end her. What he didn't expect is to care for the girl who is suppose to be his job.
Jasper experience a case of insta-lust. I don't understand why is he so obsessed with a girl he hardly know. He sounds kinda OTT in his lust for her and he is totally shameless and unapologetic about it. The saving grace is Max think he is a psycho and never give him an inch. Of course towards the end Jasper totally redeem himself and we finally see the man hiding behind the cynicism and cruelty.
I think I wouldn't have been sold by the romance between Jasper and Max if not because of the life threatening situation they were thrown in. The last quarter I was practically holding my breathe wanting to know how this will end for them. I would have prefer a different take though. (view spoiler)[I always prefer the hero to do the saving in end, instead of the heroine. And when I find out how the Ink actually works, it felt very Pokemon to me. (hide spoiler)]
Considering this is a PNR, it lack of a good explanation of the world building. The author just throw you in the midst of the action and expect you to understand and pick up the tidbits about the world. Absolutely no info dumping, which for the first time I would appreciate it, if she just spent a chapter explaining all the back story and the role of each person. It seems like there should be a prequel and I keep feeling I'm missing some important information. But once I get into it a few more chapters, things do start falling into place and I find myself engross with all the action. Definitely will read the subsequent books in the series.

Premise is unique, it was so good and I cried like 3 times (one which involves the dog, but don't worry, no dogs are harm in the story). This story kinda reminds me of Until I Saw You by Dianna Roman. ...more
