I must say this story is just as good, though not as tear jerker as the previous one, it does has its heavy moments. I especially love the stoic Eric, his patience and selflessness in dealing with Daniel's brand of brashness. The addition of Harper and Riley is a nice touch. I miss them so much. Now I can't wait for Rob's story - fake relationship, omg. ...more

Angelo is my favorite character from the entire Morelli series and is great to catch up with him about his unfinished quest of trying to clear Baxter's name.
Vow of Vigilante introduce us to the Castellani family and let's just said they are cray cray. There was this suspense surrounding this Greco person that Angelo is hunting for and when the mystery was reveal, my reaction was "WTF! These people are crazy."
For me, the best part of the book is towards the end, about Angelo and Baxter embarking on their new life. The epilogue was everything I can wish got Angelo.
I know there is gonna be a spin off series for the new mafia family, I just hope Angelo doesn't get drag back into their mess. Despite how much I love to see him again, I want him to stay away from them forever. ...more

A big dose of sweetness, a bit of violence with a mystery to unravel. Jimmy Poe is such a pure soul and very sweet young man who had the worst of luck. He is trying to clear his father's name while piling on a mountain of debt. When he got desperate, he decided to make a deal with the mob boss, Cold by giving up his body. From the get go, I think Jimmy is getting a better deal out of this because he clearly enjoy himself from day one despite his nervousness. Boss Cold can be icy cold and fuck him brutally but he treat Jimmy well. The whole no touching, no kissing and fuck without getting naked is bit weird, but only make me want to know about this mob boss more. Their relationship on the mild D/s side. Cold will be saying "Are you ready to come, Mr Poe." And Jimmy will reply "Yes, sir. Please." Jimmy's rag to riches story is equivalent to a Cindefella. One day he was poor as dirt without a warm meal and the next he is the mafia boss's keep man. I like how Jimmy is so into Cold and his new lifestyle that he doesn't even question himself whether is he selling his soul to the devil. He is totally smitten with Cold and who can blame him when not only Cold gives him multiple orgasm per day, Cold even get him a new job, new clothes and new friends. They might started off together as a business transaction, but before long genuine feeling get in the way. Jimmy slowly squirm his way into Cold's heart and make Cold seems much more like a lover instead of someone who make him pay off his debt. I like seeing how Cold show his caring and protective side beneath his gruff exterior. The secondary characters here are all very likable despite most of them being on the wrong side of the law, from Uncle Maury, Cold's OTT sister - Rowena, Jules, Dario, Jerry and many more. There was a brewing gang war and the old homicide case involving Jimmy's family. I was so excited to see how everything is going to pan out and how will Cold resolved the gang issue while helping Jimmy at the same. Overall, I think this story gives me the perfect balance of romance and the mafia plot....more

They are fighting and insulting each other for almost the whole book and I can't stop reading until I finished it in one seating. I guess I have a kink for dysfunctional couple. I know is juvenile because the more they fight the more I actually find myself laughing. The grovelling scene at the end was a nice touch though. I didn't expect to get mushy feelings for Ksar, who is supposed to be the arrogant jerk. I jumped directly into book 2, which make me feeling confuse in the beginning when they are mentioning Harry's problem, nonetheless I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Seyn and Ksar explosive relationship....more

Rival hitmen forced to work together to figure out who wanted both of them dead. Ricardo is more serious and stoic. August is funny, egoistic and can't keep his mouth shut. I enjoyed their banter, August always try to rile up Ricardo with his blabbermouth and princely attitude. Ricardo might just found out as annoying as August is, he can't stay away from the guy. There is action and humor and a little sexy. I'm so happy to hear there is a sequel coming up because I need more of their sexy times....more

I I love this series about a group of assassins, who are friends who enjoy talking smack about each other. It was exhilarating, fun and entertaining.
I know of Dr. Tobias Eastman from previous book, he is the therapist for the deviant, like serial killers and such. In the previous book, scene where AZ and Madigan pretend to have a marriage counseling with Tobias was the funniest part of the book. Who knew this button up doctor is like a wolf in sheep skin. His true persona should scare me, but I'm truly fascinated with his mind.
Soren is a retired assassin who is itching to come out of retirement. I didn't expect him to appear like a super chill surfer dude persona, but that's who he is. Whereas Tobias is all meticulous control, physically and emotionally, Soren is the total opposite. Soren keep annoying the hell out of Tobias and slowly chipping off his shell, making Tobias feel for the first time.
Their relationship is so unconventionally morbid. Planning murder seems like foreplay. Despite the HFN, I wish this book is longer. I feel that we have just barely skimming the surface of their relationship and getting to know who Tobias really is underneath his preppy suit. What about Soren? I feel like I still didn't know much about him at all. I know he is very carefree and he is bored with retirement life. I know he likes to unravel Tobias and called him all sort of endearing nicknames. But I wish there is more backstory to him, the mentor of Madigan should be someone interesting, right?
I'm not ready to leave this group of assassins yet, AZ and Madigan's appearance always put a smile on my face. I hope there is more to come, either a story for Ronin or revisiting AZ/Madigan or another book for Soren/Tobias, I'm game....more

This time the new memI know this is Book 6 of the series, but A Chosen Man can definitely work as a standalone, similar to other books in the series. This time the new member of the Halfway House is Dylan, convicted for cyber crime. As usual, Dylan came into the house like rebellious teenager that is in need of some serious TLC.
Wall is from the police force and although I have a kink for broody, stoic hero, Wall gives broody a whole new meaning. Wall is a man of few words and I remember a scene of him with his friend Jess, whereby Jess carried the entire conversation without Wall uttering a single word. However, Jaime really bring Wall's character to life with his POV, so even though he doesn't speak much, we know exactly what's on his mind. Wall might appear like a tough unfeeling robot, but we know that inside hide a soft gooey heart, especially after Dylan thawed it with his special brand of sass.
There are some suspense element with nefarious people trying to hunt Dylan for his hacking skill, which ended up Wall and Dylan being on the run together. My favourite part of the story was definitely when they got the down time together and getting to know each other. They both have some painful past that make them afraid to try and risk their heart again, but with each tentative steps forward, they manage to shed their armour and embrace the possibility. Dylan can be such a brat and Wall a stubborn mule, but they definitely wormed their way into my heart....more

I love the depth of the story and how the lives of everyone was interconnected. The level of angst was through the roof. I only managed to buy the print for Chapter 3 & 4 (with print exclusive nsfw. Yowza! Is still available as of now) and the rest I read from their website. Unfortunately, the artists have to end the story prematurely due to real life, but they managed to write up the summaries and HEAs for each of the three main couples. The summaries are all kind of epic and definitely an amazing fodder for possibly another 10 chapters. Is definitely a shame that those were not drawn, but I have an active imagination.
Let me just give a little teaser on the main couples.
Rory + Reed Rory - the newest member of the brothel, blushing virgin twink, a hopeless romantic, totally naive Reed - mysterious, stoic, closed off, have some connection with royalty. Relationship - awkward, sweet
Axis + Rhys Axis - literal manwhore, slutty, enjoy both men and women, asshole extraordinaire Rhys - the prince, enjoy riling up Axis, also a jackass Relationship - plenty of angsty sex, enemies-to-lovers kinda vibe
Linneus + Atros Linneus - the most feminine male in the story, saddest character in the story Atros - owner of Teahouse, stoic, close off, the man that makes Linneus life a misery. I hate Atros throughout the story right until everything is explained in the ending Relationship - super angsty, throw your laptop to the wall kind of angst, so much wasted years and heartache. omg!
The relationships trend in this book is very open, everyone just kinda sleeps with everyone else, except for Rory, who is exclusive for Reed. This might not be everyone cup of tea, but if is any consolation, I love the ending - everyone got the ultimate HEA and they settle for being monogamous. ...more
Absolute perfection (for me)!! I always have a hard-on for anti-heroes, characters such as hitmen and mafioso. Shades is right up my alley and I love Absolute perfection (for me)!! I always have a hard-on for anti-heroes, characters such as hitmen and mafioso. Shades is right up my alley and I love every bit of it and more. Killian 'Ian' Marks is in his 40s, a hitman with a heart of gold. I know this is not something new, but it pushes all the right buttons for me. Ian is contemplating retirement and leaving everything behind, but feel tied down due to his attraction to a certain restaurant waiter.
Nick had been working in the restaurant for 2 years now after fleeing the normal life he used to have. He is always looking over his shoulder, being afraid. Meeting Ian at the restaurant for the past six months serve as a reminder of a future he couldn't have. But he should know Ian isn't just a normal guy, Ian might just be the person who can save him.
Let's get on with what I love about this book. First, this is a slow burn romance. Ian and Nick have their initial encounter at the restaurant whereby everything is very platonic, but I can feel the simmering tension underneath the surface. On one hand, I want them to just get on with it already, but on the other hand, the wait is so delicious and so worth it. It built up the anticipation and make everything much more meaningful.
Secondly, the suspense and the funny sidekick, Dex and also the other side character, Ramon. These two might be the only friends Ian have and they are both so precious. Okay, Dex is straight and all coupled up, but I seriously hope Ramon will be having his own book. Nick's past is coming back to haunt him and although Ian is the hero that will save the day, I wouldn't label Nick as a damsel in distress. Nick is level-headed, his calm and reasonable demeanour serves as a balm among all the chaos. Often time amidst the suspense, someone will do something stupid, and I will be like 'No' and 'I told you so', thankfully none of these cliches happen here.
Shades is a great romantic suspense that has a perfect balance of swoon-worthy romance and the nail-biting suspense. I was instantly connected to Ian and Nick right from the start. They are both endearing and so lovable together and also as an individual. All their interactions are so sensual and touching. When it was revealed about their past, let just say I'm in tears. Jaime Reese really did outdo herself with this one. ...more
