It is my favorite for multiple reasons.
We get to see the creation of Narnia and it is beautiful and heartwarming while being dark but hopeful. I love Polly and Diggory's exploration of the houses and then the exploration of the world between worlds.
I loved the magic within this book from the portal pools to the magic rings was so fun to read and it sparked my inner child imagination.
In case you don't know, the Chronicles of Narnia is an allegory of the stories in the bible. The Magicians Nephew tells the story of Genesis in which God creates the world in seven days but unfortunately, Adam and Eve forked up because Satan is selfish and now we're all screwed.
In this book, Adam is Diggory. Eve is Polly. And Satan is the Witch. In the bible, Adam and Eve eat the fruit from the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, messing everything up, bringing sin into the world.
It's a lot of fun to see the similarities and differences of this book and Genesis. In some ways, the story is the same and in some ways it's different.
Overall, this was a bright and magical introduction to this amazing series.

Honestly, The Horse and His Boy is one of my least favorite books in the Chronicles of Narnia. I'm not quite sure why but I just find it so boring.
It follows Bree and Chasta (is that how it's spelled? I'm too lazy to look it up) and them escaping into Narnia. It's a story I honestly wasn't that invested in.
It introduced one of the bigger issues in this series though. I want to note that The Horse and His Boy was originally written and published in the 1950's so I understand that this was written when the racial culture was completely different.
All that said, there is some obvious racism going on here that I will cover more in my review of The Last Battle but to put it simply, the villains are dark-skinned and dark-haired. The hereos are light-skinned and blonde. See the problem here?
I'm also not really sure which Bible story this is an allegory for. HAHA JUST KIDDING. I figured it out. It's an allegory for the story of Moses. Okay, okay. I did do some googling and I figured it out.
Overall, this book definitely isn't a highlight of the series, it's decent. As it isn't needed to understand the overall story, I would say that you can read it if you really want to but it isn't necessary.
This book was and one of my favorites in the series and it contains one of my favorite fantasy scenes in the entire world of fantasy.

Seriously, that scene was one I loved to reenact at every beach and pool. As recent as 2018. I am not ashamed to admit it. It's so much fun.
Of all the trips into Narnia, it's definitely the best.
Anywho, about the rest of the book. I loved the introduction of Eustace and although his character arc was a bit contrived, I still enjoyed it.
As for the biblical allegory, I'm really not sure. I did a lot of googling (okay, not that much) and people think it's multiple stories. I thought maybe it could be Noah's arc but I honestly have no clue.

This one was definitely NOT my favorite. It honestly sucks. It's exactly the worst type of fantasy. War fantasy. I couldn't care less about people fighting and stabbing other people. Sigh.
I did enjoy the Pevensies coming back to Narnia though. That was such a fun bunch of chapters. Seeing them whisked into Narnia and re-exploring everything.
I'm not quite sure what the biblical parallel is. I think it might be Gideon fighting the Midianites. Or maybe David and Goliath? I honestly don't know.
Overall, this was the least fun Narnia book.

I am pretty disappointed. This wasn't fun to read. It was partly because most of the stories represented as cartoons are ones I hadn't read but the ones I had were represented by cartoons that didn't make sense. I felt like I had to put a ton of effort to even figure out what the heck the cartoon was supposed to be saying. It was not fun.

Because this book has been talked about and hyped up since it's release and I was so sure it had been doomed to the Hype Curse.
But, surprisingly, this book was pretty decent. It wasn't mindblowing-ly amazing as it had been made out to be by some of the reviews but it was pretty enjoyable.
There were some dark themes but it was a lovely and creative story and I truly loved the ending.
Overall, this book is definitely overhyped but it's not bad and I definitely recommend giving it a chance. By now, the hype has died down so most digital libraries should have it available.

I have very mixed feelings about Romeo and Juliet. Honestly, I have mixed feelings on all of Shakespeare's works but now is not the time.
Romeo and Juliet is very, very well written. Even so, I am still unable to fully enjoy the story because of the sheer stupidity of the main characters. I understand that this is a tragedy... and that Romeo and Juliet are teenagers and their brains haven't fully developed....
BUT I STILL GET SO MAD

Fortunately, this is a graphic novel so the fantastic illustrations mostly distracted me from the idiocy of the characters. :)
Overall, this story will make my facepalm for all of eternity and it isn't my favorite. Oh, well.

I was lucky enough to catch it in its early phase. So, on that cold night, I thought to myself ”Nuh uh. I am not starting the year—the decade—like this.” And so, I picked this book up because there is nothing like curling up with a good romance.
The Wallflower Wager follows Penny, a young woman who only wants to be left alone to care for her animals. But, unfortunately, her aunt (I think) wants her to stop fooling around and rejoin society.
Penny doesn’t want to but she is left with no choice. Her (ridiculously hot) neighbor, Gabriel, demands that she have all her pets removed, she tells him she will let them leave her home… if he can find them a new one.
Gabriel thinks its an easy task because he’s just an uncaring asshole… Right?
This wasn’t anything special. Sorry, that sounds blunt but it’s true. This book is great but not all that unique which didn’t end up disappointing me because I didn’t go into this expecting to be riveted.
That said, it was pretty romantic and steamy and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this author for future releases!
