A. Knightley coming in strong with the second addition to this series. Her debut Under the Lupine Moon was enjoyable but left me wanting a bit but this novella was a much stronger entry to the Silver Rapids series.
I knew she was a gonna be a favorite of mine. Her voice really shown through in this novella. The few complaints I had with her debut were almost completely nonexistent. I had nonstop fun. The kink was so well done and OMG the cozy halloween vibes were sooooo good.
If you could package sipping on hot cider around a crackling fire place with friends as the sunsets and leaves fall around you, it would be this book.
Also, I absolutely adore her acknowledgements. With both of her titles, they truly feel like a heartfelt letter directly to the reader and it is just so endearing.
I can't wait to see what Knightley does next (Sam and Silas, I'm looking at youuuuuu!)...more

great concept - very poor execution. and yet... i enjoyed it? i was getting queer zombieland meets the ethical quandaries of Superstore. it could've been great but the queer representation was so heavy-handed and poorly done. it felt like the author just spun the wheel of 'which-queer-identity-will-we-include-today?' and then decided why pick one when we could use all of them? and they all felt like cardboard one-dimensional stereotypes.
that being said, the zombie action kicked off right away and was really well done. there was something almost cozy and campy about the apocalypse vibes that i really enjoyed for some reason. the corporation was realistically despicable so that's always fun.
my final complaint was the main character, Wendy, who was the dumbest dumbass to ever dumbass. i am SHOCKED that she survived her own stupidity. ...more

Big, messy feelings. On one hand, this is literally the written execution my imaginary romances that I write as I fall asleep which was an absolutely blast to read. But on the other hand, it definitely could have been touched up some. I would have loved to have seen more emotional depth and stakes.
Unfortunately, the chemistry between Finn and Jaime did feel a touch shallow even with the intimate scenes. it felt very instalove-y. Additionally, and this is not a problem per se, the sex was just a bit too much for me. I like my sex scenes like a warm bowl of soup: flavorful, comforting, cozy with a hint of spice. These scenes were more like a spicy curry- burning, enthralling, a bit too much for my tastes. I'm really not into the breeding/bodily fluids stuff and there was a LOT of it. maybe a bit too much.
That being said, I'll probably continue with this author because despite the few complaints, I had a good time reading this...more

I loved this introduction to this series. It definitely seems like one I will enjoy. Although sports don't really interest me, I love romance. And honestly, fencing in one of the more interesting sports. I only know some terms from seeing it in Miraculous Ladybug.
Anywho, I am really looking forward to diving into this series!

She works at her grandmothers' bookshop, where she helps them loan out spell books and investigate any supernatural occurrences in their New England town.
One fateful night, she follows reports of a white wolf into the woods, and she comes across the unexpected: her childhood crush, Tam Lang, battling a horse demon in the woods. As a werewolf, Tam has been wandering from place to place for years, unable to call any town home.
Pursued by dark forces eager to claim the magic of wolves and out of options, Tam turns to Nova for help. Their latent feelings are rekindled against the backdrop of witchcraft, untested magic, occult rituals, and family ties both new and old in this enchanting tale of self-discovery.
Although this wasn't what I was in the mood for when I read this, I still enjoyed it.
It's cute, heartwarming and gorgeously illustrated!
