This was an absolute wild ride and I LOVED every hectic and chaotic moment!!! I haven’t been fully absorbed into a book well since book 3 was released and THIS ONE takes a whole new level! Whilst you think you can keep up there’s some epic plot curves and I AM HERE FOR IT!! There’s things I saw coming and things I didn’t want to be right about but DANG it’s a whole new world actually reading it!! I’m so intrigued with this world and I LOVED that this book didn’t hold back. So buckle up for a wild ride and enjoy where the wild shifters drag you.
But my words did that book end with SOOOOO many bam bam BAM moments! Eeep I was in my element and I absolutely CANNOT wait to see where the next book takes me!!! Seriously don’t walk RUN to one-click this book baby you NEEDS it in your life!!!

Enjoyed the series but be prepared there is a LOT of sex scenes. Story all over was decent. I probably would’ve preferred to see more into the main villain time and not spent so much on the “secondary” villains. To me it seemed fairly obvious who the main villain would be once the story plot developed a little. So it seemed a bit rushed once it did all go down. Like I felt that a lot of the time, during the books, it was focused on the “secondary” villains a lot more than the one that was going to cause all hell to break out on earth. But all in all I did enjoy the read and it kept my attention. So that’s a win.
The added bonus scenes was interesting and left me curious how that little fluffball (without spilling any spoilers) came about. Because it’s obvious what it is but how did it get back to them after the separation? I have questions lol. However it happened it seemed like a fun addition to their team. (Hopefully I’m not being daft haha)...more

I’ve been waiting YEARS to return to this world! And I was so happy to dive back in. This isn’t going to be a review per se just something quick. I don’t know why but I thought this was going to be a whole new series, don’t know why I thought that so I was a little disappointed that this was all the story we would get. So just a heads up to others.
I loved this story but I do have to admit it did feel a little repetitive in some parts to Sara’s story (I would’ve liked to see them vary a bit more - so that’s why I marked it down a little bit)…but I still absolutely loved the writing and seeing the characters all over again. I was sucked right back in and the words and writing really helped me escape, which I’ve been struggling to find in books of late. Karen definitely has a way with words.
Ps Nikolas you weren’t quite as possessive as I imagined you’d be lol. ...more
Hey, hey Ramblers!! Welcome to my first ARC read of the year and daaaang was it one that I LOVED and completely DEVOURED!! I was more than a little sad to see this book come to an end.

There was so much to love about this book and I can't express how much I loved falling back into the Shadowguard world. I remember when the first one came out in 2019? I was lucky enough to get my hands on the ARC of that one too and I just adored how Samantha wrote. Since then, I've fallen into each one of her worlds and loved them all. Her writing style and ability to weave a story has always had a way of catching my attention and holding it. And this new series is no different. I can't tell you how fast I fell in love with the main character, Andie. She's one you just can't help but connect with and love. Then add in the other characters and don't forget about the plot, it's just the icing on the cake.

But gah, I don't know where to start with this book. Sooo much stuff happens in it and I don't know if I can really talk about that stuff, without letting spoilers out. Coz trust me the words are in the book title.

I’m going to try and keep it simple, at the beginning of the book Andie and her partner are staking out a dark lab, that’s been doing some messed up tests on paranormals. When Andie jumps in to protect a prisoner, she changes the course of her life. Now she’s learning that Fae are real and she’s been called in for her first and biggest mission. And now she and a few other chosen are headed to this new unfamiliar realm, to make an alliance with the Fae queen. Or so they were led to believe…

Cue all the crazy things that await you in this book, there's more than one thing going on in this story and I loved seeing that. I can't wait to see where Samantha will take this series but I'm seriously here for it. I loved the characters and the bantering between a favourite pair...maybe I should drop a little sneaksie into that. You guys will like that, I'm sure.
“Why are you laughing?” A smile settles on his face. “I find your boldness amusing… and refreshing.” “It’s bold to call someone out for being a jerk?” “When that someone is a lord, yes.” “Well, my apologies, Lord Thalore.” I lower myself into a mocking bow. “I didn’t know the rules.” It doesn’t escape me that I am now the one being incredibly rude and disrespectful. I don’t know what’s come over me. But something about this male gets under my skin. I look up, expecting to see a p!s*ed off fae, but Lord Thalore looks far from angry. Still grinning, he says, "I believe I requested you call me Thal." I raise my brows. "That doesn't seem appropriate." "I suppose not," he allows. "But neither does reprimanding a lord." Touché
I'm so excited for you all to dive into this new series by Samantha (Find here ---> A Court Of Debt and Deception). It's truly incredible and I just love how much it sucked me right in. It was a struggle to put down because so much stuff was just continually going on and my brain loved it. Amazing work Samantha!

PS please apologise if this review has more mistakes or doesn't make much sense, I've been crazy sick after having an iron infusion and then getting a really severe infection so my brain is still really out of it.
Ugh why does goodreads always crash on me when I’m writing reviews and nearly finished sigh.

What the?! That was a mind boggle. I did not see that coming. I expected her to do something to fight back but I never expected that THAT would happenWhat the?! That was a mind boggle. I did not see that coming. I expected her to do something to fight back but I never expected that THAT would happen! I won’t say spoilers which is so dang hard right now, after literally just finishing…my mind is whirring because whilst a part of my brain gets it, another part is saying but hoooow the book did so good hiding a lot of stuff in the beginning but at the same time like it was contradictory in a way (but I think it was done deliberately to confuse you — now I know it’s not a completely trustable narrative. Obviously I had suspicions that all wasn’t as it seemed but not to this extent.

All in all I really enjoyed the story and am definitely going to read more. There were a few things that made me lower my score — one of the main being that the natural progression of the FMC and the MMC did fall a little off for me. One minute the guy despises her but has a deep rooted obsession at the same time, which is fine but then in a blink of an eye it switches to fallen in love…so for me that aspect didn’t have a natural flow. It wasn’t so terrible that it took away from their chemistry but it was a little jarring for the story, in my opinion. I would’ve loved to see that development a little slower. To be on that journey a bit longer and see that relationship cultivated by action and things the FMC does etc.
I do gotta say that bog animal thingie in the beginning was hella weird and didn’t feel necessary but to each their own…again didn’t destroy the story or anything for me, was just like
Oh my words I continued to love this story and the characters and was totally here for it all! The journey these guys went through and the friendshipsOh my words I continued to love this story and the characters and was totally here for it all! The journey these guys went through and the friendships and family within this story was what touched me the most. I feel that was the centre of what this story was about. Like it kinda went full circle. How Dawsyn was trying to find her place in the world and go out on her own to find her path, but in the end she relied on her family and friends to get through the times and that was truly so beautiful! ...more
I liked it and am intrigued to see where it goes. Something was a little lacking but I can’t quite put my finger on it. I do want to know more 3.5 ⭐️
I liked it and am intrigued to see where it goes. Something was a little lacking but I can’t quite put my finger on it. I do want to know more and I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read but wasn’t as fully connected to the story as much as I would’ve liked. There was a slight disconnect, for me, going on but I’m still very much going to continue on with the series!
I do very much enjoy the sass of the MC/F and the broody alpha male package we are provided is spot on. Friendships in the story I liked but I think maybe some depth to them was missing but I have hope that that could change. ...more

Awww my words another series has come to an end and this one closed the chapter on Foster and Andie’s st4.5 ⭐️ What a wild ride this series has been!
Awww my words another series has come to an end and this one closed the chapter on Foster and Andie’s story oh so beautifully. I really loved how this book came to a close. It wrapped everything up so perfectly.
I really loved how the epilogue gave a view into what the future would bring/look like. Sometimes with some books you are still left needing more of a final picture, and for me Heather nailed that!
This story is such a wild ride and I loved watching on to see how it would all play out. There’s the ups and downs and somewhere’s in between and you are only going to want more. You are going to love the journey this book will take you on.
So go enjoy this final instalment. And get ready to love these characters even more (if that’s even possible).
