I have mixed feelings on this. It's a spin off from the Behind The Camera series this author duet wrote. I read that series recently and enjoyed it a lot. Compared to those, this one feels unpolished.
The characters and their romance felt very superficial for most of the story. The characters lacked depth and felt a bit immature. Jimbob bordered on saccharine, and Braxton's gloomy disposition made him seem like a moody teenager. Once I pushed through the story, I luckily grew to understand them, and by the end I felt more invested. I just wish that had happened sooner.
Overall this was still pretty cute, and I was happy with how it all came together. It's pretty obvious who the next book will be about, and that character has the potential to be too immature too handle, but I'll still give it a try. I think these authors have the ability to make the character less cringey and more quirky, I just hope they do....more

Absolutely adorable romance between a pixie and a human accountant, who are both over hookups and are looking for something more. Their personalities seem to be vastly different, but both are romantics at heart. The characters live in a town where the presence of magical creatures is not hidden from humans, and I'd love to see more stories in this world.
Locked in Love by Lark Taylor

I loved the couple in this one; the pink-haired vampire and the Scottish water mage were both cute and very sexy together. I would love it if these two showed up in one of Taylor's future books....more

I wish there was a way to rate each story individually for the sake of accuracy (and page count totals!), but alas, I shall simply update this review with each story I read.
When CUPID Strikes by Cora Rose

This is a cute story about a quirky librarian and an uptight lawyer who are accidentally matched via a dating app. They start a friendship that quickly grows into something more. This story is sweet and made me laugh. I'd love to read a longer version of this.

This was fine. Henry wants revenge on his cheating ex by seducing ex's father. Sounds way more scandalous than it actually is. Henry is adorable, but I didn't really get a good feel for his love interest, Keane.
August's Thief by Fearne Hill

This was lovely. A man whose face was disfigured in an accident is longing for someone who will accept him as he is, someone that he can protect and spoil. He finds that in a wonderfully vivacious young man whose carefree spirit belies a generous and loving soul. In this one, the CUPID app becomes its own character, and its conversations with the main character are amusing and insightful. This is my first read from this author, and I’ll definitely be checking out her other works....more
