Why not 5 stars? I needed Boxer's POV. I needed to hear from him while she was gone, I needed to hear from him in the hospital. Authors, STOP LEAVING THESE GUYS OUT!! We need to hear from them.
I'm not a huge fan of trigger warnings (so I usually skip them), because I don't get triggered and I think sometimes it can take away that moment where you just have to stop and live in it, even when its hard. BUT, I can see some not being able to hand what Linden has to go through on page.
And how she responded to it. I won't lie, I wasn't sure how to feel about her responses, but once I finished and she started to "heal" a little, it made sense and I feel like it was a very valid response.
I liked her more than Mia. I think her backbone showed more. Both of these girls have abandonment issues, and you can see them pretty clear in how they handle their relationships, but in the end they both kept fighting instead of taking the easy route.
I will definitely be on the look out for the rest of the audiobooks when they come out. ...more
I have done it again, I tried a new author and I enjoyed this.
I was kinda in the mood for an MC, but didn't want cheating. The blurb and t3.5 stars.

I was kinda in the mood for an MC, but didn't want cheating. The blurb and the top reviews made this seem safe, and it was. No cheating.
Why 3.5? Honestly, the heroine was not awful, but she also wasn't my favorite. I just didn't fully connect with her, which is probably a "me" issue. There was just something I didn't love, but I can't put my finger on exactly what it was.
I enjoyed it enough to continue to the next, so that says something. ...more

I can't even tell you why I loved it so much. The characters, the writing, the easy yet enthralling storyline for each book.
Gabe and Sylvia have an underlying romance building, SLOWLY - ya'll I hate slow burns but I love them.
Willie, Daisy and Alex are great 2nd characters. The mystery about where Sylvia comes from, the light magical essence throughout and each books mystery about a book is so well done, especially if it kept my attention for 6 days.

I don't even remember if there is swearing in this book. I might actually have my kids listen to these audio. This book couldn't be further away from my normal reads.
I don't even care if Sylvia and Gabe end up together, which I think they will eventually. I'm enjoying them solve their little mysteries. ...more

I have been picking up books of all types lately based on the blurb and not reviews - I KNOW, I'M SHOCKED TOO.
This one surprised me how pulled in I was from the beginning. Even now, I'm not 100% sure why I liked it so much. Maybe it was the writing, maybe it was the characters, no idea. I can't really explain it, but I really liked it.
I didn't realize that it has like 6 more books, and I'll definitely keep going.

Seriously, would you want to know when you were going to die? I'm not sure I would. I think it would stress me out.
I'm a firm believer in Everything Happens for A Reason, and I also don't believe we know why until the time is right.
This book was not crazy exciting, it won't have you gasping for breath, you won't be on the edge of your seat (well except for when you are waiting to find out who dies first), but it will have you so enthralled you can't read fast enough to finish it. I swore I was going to take my time since I was reading the actual paperback. That only held true until about the 35% mark and then I finished it in one very long sitting.
I'm definitely going to read more of this author. ...more

Willow's distrust with Gray was her demise for for me. I will admit he deserved it in the first book, but from the beginning of this book he was all in. And I feel like his character would have told all if she acted differently.
She did some stuff in this book that tainted her character to a point she couldn't come back for me. In the end I still don't feel like she gave herself to Gray the way he did for her.
This first book had me hooked. I went in pretty blind only reading the blurb.

Ya'll why do authors feel the need to take a perfectly good book and ruining, with the excuse of "I only did it to push you away, I hated every minute".
Why couldn't she just lie to him, or I don't know TALK TO HIM ABOUT HER FEARS!! Dumb. Instead of being pissed off for the rest of the book just to hear her stupid ass excuse, it could have been a pivotal moment in their relationship.
Now, I don't trust this author.... I just know she is going to do this stupid shit again.. ...more

The writing was just meh for me. It felt sloppy and about 50% through I was so over hearing about "The Magic". We are well aware there is magic pulling you there, I don't need to be reminded every 3rd sentence.
Also, lack of communication trope is right there at the top of my dislike lists, and I felt like if these two had just vented their issues they would realize they wanted each other. ...more
