I loved the slow burn romance and the way the men worked through their baggage. The secondary stories were almost as interesting as the main one. The changing POVs between Grayson and Izaac worked perfectly and gave a great deal of insight into all of the characters. The only reason why I'm not giving this wonderful book 5 stars is the lack of decent editing which would have made the story shine. ...more

Ron and Jed were teenage best friends and lovers separated by Jed's abusive father. Threatened with a gay correction facility, Jed ran. Both men were damaged yet both survived. If the old saying "it's all in the getting there" then Ron and Jed had one hell of a wild ride. Good main characters and Kitty was larger than life. A smooth, touching story with just enough angst and laughter. ...more

I couldn't help but to love Kitt and Austin. Both men spent so much of their lives deeply closeted because of their careers. I liked the way that Kitt bucked the system and brought his ranch into the 21st century. I can understand the reason why Austin and Kitt would choose the closet but it's a shame that there is even a closet. Some poor editing or lack of editing kept this from being a five star story. Highly recommended. ...more

This was a well plotted and touching story wh Ah the old west where life was hard and men were harder, especially in a dark alley after a few drinks. This was a well plotted and touching story which is what I have come to expect from Lisa Henry. I liked Elijah a lot. He was savvy enough to let people think that he was mentally impaired when he was quite intelligent. I imagine that his real handicap was more a lack of self-esteem than his partial deafness. I liked the characters Matt and Grady. For all their flaws I believe that they had a simple integrity. Harlan was the perfect rich, weasely pig that always owns the saloon in a western. He was richly fleshed out just as Elijah was. The ending was left open ended just like life at that time usually was. Definitely worth the read for those that enjoy westerns. ...more

I love t This was a good easy reading western with a real story. Two drifters, Johnny Sapphire and Moses Star, meet up in the tiny town of Snakebite. I love the name of the town. The characters were well rounded out and were extremely likable. The sex had a little kink to it though the thought of using axle grease as a lube made me shudder. What impressed me was that instead of making the story just about sex, Mr. Barnette wove some prejudices into the story. The social issues filled the story out and made it real for me. This was one of the better shorts that I've read in a while. ...more

The title still does but the story behind the cover is far from bad, it was superb. The characters were well developed and had a sense of realness to them. The plot itself although fairly straightforward sucked me right in from the get go. I didn't know what to expect once the ship blew. The last thing that I expected was a perfect blend of the kill everything you don't understand military, the stoic and half crazy Russian mafia and a snarky, horned out sentient alien armor weapon device that took up residence in a lovable drifter. McClane is wonderful and Riley and Misha are a couple to be reckoned with. This story ticked all of the boxes with aliens, romance, some crazy sex, humor, bombs exploding and the good guys somehow coming out ahead. I can't recommend this light hearted, romantic sci-fi book highly enough. ...more
