I don't know where to start with this heart-wrenching read from L.A. Cannon - I guess with the fact that If I Were To Die is part 1 in a duet, so there is no HEA in this one and you're left with a gut-churning cliffhanger. But we are promised a HEA in book 2!
You absolutely need to read If I Were To Die if you're all about the angst and pitch black DARK themes and alllll the emotional first times. Plus allll the spice (including borderline non-con).
"God! Noah hated this guy. He hated his gorgeous face, broad shoulders, ripped forearms, and perfect lips. Hated that after so long he still knew exactly what to say or do to ruffle his feathers. Hated the way he dragged some syllables and how his voice made him feel. So, he kissed his stupid mouth roughly to shut him up.
If you're up for all that then I strongly encourage you to dive in and fall desperately in love (and in angst) with Noah and Kaj.....

I searched for Zee, checking he was alright and not upset over being left out. He’d draped himself in a plastic chair, one leg up on the table, smirking at the show. “Don’t mind me, Kitten. It ain’t often I get to watch.”
Seriously, could these three get into trouble (and spice!) anywhere - even in IKEA?!
Ariana Nash and Adam Vex do it again in this hilarious, steamy Christmas novella fun and nonsense, featuring our favourite threesome.
"It was crazy, but I wanted more. Wanted to kiss him for real. Careful not to spook him, I slowly leaned up, giving him lots of time to pull away. "It was crazy, but I wanted more. Wanted to kiss him for real. Careful not to spook him, I slowly leaned up, giving him lots of time to pull away. He met my kiss with a soft sigh that sent another jolt of white-hot heed through me. His lips were soft and hesitant as he slotted our mouths together, our kiss chaste and slow."
It's Complicated is book 2 in the Legacy Mechanics series by Willow Dixon, and I am totally loving this series of linked standalones so far. This is besties Isaac and Jamie's story.
What To Expect:
❣️MM romance ❣️Best friends to lovers ❣️Room-mates ❣️Found family ❣️Hurt comfort ❣️Bi-awakening ❣️All the steam ❣️First times ❣️HEA

MM Graye is a new-to-me author, so when I had the opportunity to read The Malevolent Heir, which is a MM dark fantasy book, I jumped at the chance. There are soooo many MM contemporary romance books being churned out at the moment, which are all essentially the same, that just to read something different was such a novel relief! And then for it to actually be good was doubly fantastic!
This is book 1 in the Wretched Kingdoms series and the MCs are a quiet, broody, deadly vampire enforcer called Victor Nox and an arrogant, charismatic saint called Lucian Claritas. The saints and vamps are descended from the ancient Gods Lux and Nox, who fell from grace and they are now mortal enemies, and in particular the warring crime families of Nox and Claritas. So when Victor and Lucian appear to have bonded after a drunken (anonymous at the time) hook-up, following which Victor is assigned to Lucian as a temporary bodyguard, things couldn't get much worse. Except that Victor's twin brother Vincent is betrothed to be married to Lucian as a political power play.....
The Malevolent Heir: MM Mafia Paranormal Romance & Fantasy is dark in parts, lots of violent behaviours and blood, so do check out the author's notes at the end of the book and on social media. It's also full of steamy times between the MCs that are totally hot, hot, hot. I loved every page!
The story moves between present day and a few days previously, plus we get some insight into the past. That's the thing about fantasy books, there's always a lot to take in and learn about the world and the characters, but that's the joy of reading this type of story - there's a complexity to it, lots of different layers and plots to enjoy.
I can't wait for book 2, and can highly recommend this one for all you lovers of MM dark fantasy.

The ones from last night. The ones I write in my notebook. The ones from the past. He’s peeling back every single layer I erect with that stupid smirk."
You can't beat a good opposites attract romance with shades of dark, lots of angst and all the spice, and A Little Bit by new-to-me author L. Waltree delivers it in spades!
This is Warren and Eli's story and they couldn't be more different if they tried. But they both have secrets too, and when their worlds collide you know there's going to be a huge fall-out....

He stands before me, the wind whipping around us and the rain pounding against the dock as my hand remains on his arm. And all I can feel is the warmth of him under my fingertips, despite the cold. Our eyes are once again locked, and as I search his, the questions continue to swirl in my mind. I don’t even know what I’m asking… but I’m hoping for an answer. And the next thing I know, our lips meet."
Awwww Tide Over is such a feel good read, even though it does touch on some darker themes, including loss, grief and self-harm. That said, this isn't the usual dark romance that we have come to expect from Eve Holmes (which I adore) rather, this is a more heartfelt, angsty, slow and slow-burn falling in love, coupled with an acceptance of things that we can't change. Theo and Liam are divine together.
What To Expect:
❣️MM romance ❣️Bi-awakening ❣️Grief and loss ❣️MH rep ❣️Small town ❣️Found family ❣️HEA

Arcanum is a standalone paranormal MM romance novel by the fabulous Ashlyn Drewek and is part of the multi-author collaboration Tales from the Tarot. This book is based on the major arcana card Temperance, which figures throughout the story and it is Chris and Grayson's story.
If you are expecting the dark PNR that Ashlyn is well-known for, this isn't that, rather Arcanum is a more contemporary, 'lighter' read than usual (but never fear, we still have some dark situations and even darker thoughts to work through), but still with the same fantastic storyline and writing style that we have come to expect from the author.
What to Expect:
❥ MM romance ❥ PNR ❥ Small town ❥ Bi-awakening ❥ Dark themes ❥ HEA

Selfishness overpowers everything, and I’m not afraid to admit that I’m selfish enough to keep this up— because he is mine. He always has been. She’s just been borrowing him."
His Secret is a second chance MM romance from dark romance author Isabel Lucero. This isn't a dark read but it's certainly angsty at times, and if you have issues with cheating then it probably won't be for you. That said, I loved it!
What To Expect:
❥ MM romance ❥ Dual POV ❥ Second chance ❥ Forbidden ❥ Boss/employee ❥ Cheating (not between MCs) ❥ Voyeurism ❥ HEA

Waves of Fury by one of my fave NA authors K. Webster, is a post-apocalyptic adventure set in a tsunami-flooded city in the Pacific Northwest. It's a stand-alone, but with with links to Skies of Fire, another Surviving Earth Chronicles installment by Lindsey Pogue. This is Kellen and Tyler's story.
What To Expect:

I enjoyed this one - very different from the other books I've read by the author - but with lots happening and very much a rollercoaster ride. I'll definitely be reading Knox and Ava's story in Skies of Fire next!

"If someone makes you feel like music does, you should never let them go."
Of Chords and Dreams is the third book in the Burn to Rise series by the"If someone makes you feel like music does, you should never let them go."
Of Chords and Dreams is the third book in the Burn to Rise series by the wonderful, new-to-me author L.A. Cannon, and whilst it can totally be read as a standalone (which is exactly what I did) in retrospect, I would have liked to have read the first two books in the series first, just to get the background to the band and to Leah's story. Book 1 Behind the Lights and book 2 Beyond the Lights are MF and are pretty dark I understand, (they are both on my book shelf ready to be devoured!) but this instalment is MM, which is my favurite genre.
Be aware that this is written in the third person, which personally took me a bit of getting used to.
Of Chords and Dreams is Chris and Marc's story. They are the lead guitarist and bass player in a rockband that rises to preeminence during the course of the story and they have been best friends for over a decade. Chris is straight (or so he thinks) and a total commitment-phobe and Marc is bi, having had one or two serious relationships including one long-term with another guy. He's secretly been in love with Chris for years but has kept a lid on his feelings, not wanting to destroy their relationship or put the band in jeopardy.
Things start to change between them when they have a threesome with a consenting female, which leads to something physical happening between the two of them during the course of the liaison.........and Chris totally freaks out.
The way their relationship develops, physically first and then as the reality of their growing feelings becomes apparent, makes for a fabulous read. This is an angsty, best friends to lovers, opposites attract, bi-awakening, rockstar romance - with all the feels. And all the steam!

One was pure and benevolent; the other made you prone to immoral acts and unfettered compulsions. I personally found that obsession felt better and, let’s be honest, it was more fun."
How had I missed the fabulous Malefic Bloodlines series by Madilyn DeRose?! Hemlock is book 1 in the series and it's the start of Lock and Sam's story.
Be warned - this is a dark PNR, vampire/human romance, with lots of violent behaviours and it does end in a cliffhanger. I loved it!
What To Expect:

Tempest is book 4 in Madilyn DeRose's amazing Malefic Bloodlines series, and it continues on with the overarching story from the previous three books. These must be read in order!

There are some dark themes so do check the author's notes.
