And then we have the spare prince and his brother. It’s too much.

This story follows Luella, the new human queen, and Eldas the elf king. It kind of reminded me of Beauty and the Beast and also Hades and Persephone. It wasn’t super original but it was very cute. It was good enough. It didn’t do much. It did just enough. The audiobook carried this story for me. ...more

Still, I highly recommend this series.

Like a prophesy or to know what bargain Kel and Cassian made. It’s suppose to be intriguing but I just didn’t care enough. Honestly I’m only going to continue because it has to get better and I loathe Lucas with all of my heart and I want the human scumbag to suffer.
Rosalina has this messed up childhood/life. Like seriously awful and the only person who shows any interest in her is the town’s golden boy who (view spoiler)[ abuses her!!!! He carved his name on her arm. I know he rapes her. She mentions it hurting to be with him. He likes to hurt her. I want him to suffer. (hide spoiler)] so that’s why I’m going to read book two. The “good” princes and evil prince don’t really interest me. I’m going to continue this series for revenge.

These stories are so funny and fun to read. I love them so much. The story continues and we get more of the gang and what a group they are. I can’t wait for the next story to introduce more of the magical creatures. I do hate all the sexual frustration from Evie and Trystan and the (view spoiler)[ one kiss!!!! Again!!! And not even a hug this time. We need more than a kiss for these two. They are both going to explode. (hide spoiler)] but seriously, what’s up with that?! I’ve always loved Lyssa and I was very glad this story had more of her and Gideon. Just give me all the siblings!!

Evie, Evangeline, is hilarious!!! Being in her POV was the best!!!! Truly delightful. Witnessing Evie and Trystan, the Villain, fall in love was everything!!! The only complaint I have is that I needed more romance. They kissed once and maybe hugged twice. And this isn’t even the part I missed. I just wanted more time with them in the same room. The banter was chef’s kiss. It was so good and so funny. I need them in the same room for at least half of the next book. And I want to see Evie become the badass she’s meant to be. I absolutely loved her throughout the book but especially towards the end.
Welp, almost forgot. This ends in a huge cliffhanger. If you’re not a fan of those wait till book two comes out in August. This book was very silly but done so well. It felt like reading/watching a movie. A very funny, action packed fantasy. But also like a comedy sitcom show. It’s really silly at times. Like too exaggerated funny. Still very funny but also maybe not for everyone. ...more

This series has me questioning everything and everyone. And fantasy is already hard since dead doesn’t always mean dead. So it’s been twist after twist and I’m here for it.

I absolutely love that he calls her Violence. I loved this book so much, but that cliffhanger should have been ilegal. Not for the throne or for all of Aleron’s gold. But because I refuse to let them suffer.”
This is the story of how Elina the Cursed and Warrick the Chained become more. They become strong and radiant but most importantly loved. And man was this romantic. And I instantly fell in love with both characters. There’s something about a Robin Hood type hero who steals slaves and stays locked up for a month (when he can escape) just to give the slaves enough time to get back home. And a dying Queen on the run who needs to avenge her mother’s murder and take back her kingdom. But more than that it was about these two finding each other, and yes they found love and lust, but also so much more. ...more

The traumListen, I know this has been done before but it’s so much fun. It starts like Cinderella poor Isadora is being treated like an abused slave. The trauma she suffers continues and she is forced to take her evil step sisters place with the cruel prince. Lucky for her it turns out okay. Then the story shifts into a Beauty and the Beast retelling and this one is my favorite so I was a happy reader. Everything with the curse was very interesting. The take on it was very nicely done but the story took some wild turns at the end. It wasn’t really a plot twist more of a magic trick. Isadora was able to figure out things that came out of no where and how do you ask… because she has anxiety from her abuse. Which I guess. But the way she was able to solve some of these puzzles wasn’t even a little bit realistic and I know what you’re going to say this is a monster fantasy Hilda of course it doesn’t make sense. But this was crazy!!!! It was too crazy. So around 70% of this story I kind of lost interest.
And Omgoodness there’s a mailing list sign up bonus that is a whole other story with an evil brother waiting for them at the castle which was very odd to me because it’s a whole other story. It bothered me that it wasn’t included in the book. But that’s a whole other review.

The war came to an end, there were no loose ends left behind, all in all a solid ending. Now comes my biggest gripe (view spoiler)[ I understand Zara The war came to an end, there were no loose ends left behind, all in all a solid ending. Now comes my biggest gripe (view spoiler)[ I understand Zara was loyal and Eliza became her pack sister. But come on!!!! She basically chose her over Axil!!! I could not even begin to comprehend. (hide spoiler)] Anyways, I wasn’t sure I would like Axil and Zara’s story. The wolves seemed very primitive and the most outdated. Like castle times living. But somehow had one of the strongest power needed to fight the evil queen. Eh. It was just eh to me. And I wasn’t wrong, their whole fight to death last one standing is the strongest wins is barbaric and needs to change. Luckily, even though it wasn’t expanded it seemed that it was headed that way. Even though I don’t agree with how Zara ended her championship she was not wrong. Killing so many strong female wolves at the end of a championship is dumb. Killing even one is dumb let alone 20+ in the name of tradition. They need better new traditions. There has to be a way to prove your strength without death. Like introduce them to the Olympics and do that. Their way of being and looking at life was very toxic. Especially since they were all about the pack life. Make it make sense.
The ending was kind of abrupt. But I wasn’t disappointed. Even though it was very quick. Since it had been building a little in each book it was satisfying. I also really liked the villains in this one. I’m still mad the series had four men be the “good” guys and one powerful female be the villain. It should have been another man. Sigh. I do appreciate all the powerful wives though so I guess we got that. ...more

This book does need a big TW. I didn’t like that part at all and was very conflicted about it. I thought it was going to serve a bigger purpose but then kind of fell flat. It was frustrating for it to happen and then nothing. Or at least nothing that Madelynn couldn’t have done on her own. Now speaking about the story itself, I was so happy the war is moving along. This book has a clear direction. I am worried about the ending. The antagonist hates magical creatures BUT is stealing all their magic and using it on herself and her soldiers. That seems very odd. Also, she seems very unhinged. Have they ever even fought before. It seems like the territories are peaceful. Why even start a war? I guess I’ll find out in the next and final book.

Again, I was frustrated with the MC’s but I’m figuring out my least favorite trope is miscommunication. I hate it! Just communicate. It’s not angst. It’s being dumb. And some people can write real good angst and some can’t. It just frustrates me. This is one of those authors. The story could be so much more enjoyable instead I spend a lot of time rolling my eyes. Did I enjoy this story? Yes, like a ridiculous amount. Is it full of women hating women? The whole, I’m not like other women trope is sad. Women can be both feminine or masculine. Women can like to wear dresses or trousers. We don’t have to fit into one mold. And this was repeated so much… I’m so tired of women hating women. Then at the same time Arwen, our MC was all, I love all these women they’re my best friends BUT every single important female is either a) evil or b) dead, literally die throughout the book. Which brings me to my biggest complaint. (view spoiler)[ Regina was done so dirty. She deserves better. She deserves the best!! To die in such a way was unnecessary and frankly unacceptable! This was the perfect time for Arwen to prove herself. To prove how strong she was. But no, she doesn’t do anything. Typical. (hide spoiler)]
