It's like (3.5 stars) Very cute, very sweet romance novel about a girl who works in a toy shop and a boy who plays with puppets on public television. It's like Mr. Rogers meets The Shop Around The Corner. This would've been a four star read, but shockingly there were no sexy times in this romance novel. I don't need the sexy times in a romance for it to work, but alas, it felt like that could've spiced it up a bit....more

TeWhile I wasn't sure I was going to like this when I started, the characters grew on me (though I admit I loved Renata Parloni from the VERY START). Teddy was a little too slick and Ruthie just so so so buttoned up, but as they got to know each other, started opening up, sharing their quirks and loves, they became so much more human. All that being said, the ending wrapped up WAY WAY WAY too neatly. (view spoiler)[There's no way that the dad who ridiculed and belittled Teddy would all of a sudden because of one small event completely change his tune, same with Rose. I appreciate that Rose did get a little nuance, but I can't believe that one conversation would completely change her and Teddy's largely antagonistic relationship. (hide spoiler)] I would so much love to read a book about Melanie and the Sasaki Method though. Please, Sally Thorne, can you do Melanie next??...more

I seemed to get distracted easily throughout (which could also have been a result of the short short chapters taking place in wildly different worlds/times/setttings/etc). I loved the premise and I do love a good epistolary novel. The descriptions between letters was intriguing and I liked this iteration of time travel. I wasn't sure how this would end up, but ultimately, I liked the ending and how everything shook out. I think I will give this one a re-read somtime later....more

I wish there had been more about all the relationships that Nina was forming with the community members instead of the romance bits. This reminded me a bit of The Switch by Beth O'Leary, in its charm and love-letteriness to small and rural places, but I wanted more of the local flavor. She introduced Alasdair and Edwin, Hugh, and Wullie and damn it, I wanted more of them! Also no idea what the title is refering to, nor the cover photo. All that said, it was a nice read that made my heart happy....more
