How to make a kid happy? Get him a book with the main character being named the same.
Recently I found a box of my old childhood books and I was surprised that I actually completely forgot about it. But then it brought back so many dear memories. I loved the book so much, it was the one I always wanted people to read to me....more

AndEvery time I visit my childhood home, I lose some space. Here I remove some of my t-shirts, here is a drawer I can empty so my parents can use it. And every single time, I find some of my childhood treasures. This time I found all of my Egypt related books. I had so many of them which I read start to finish; I had dozens of bookmarks in them! Yeah, I can blame my love of the Stargate series and my wish to be an archaeologist (or to join the air force depending on the day you asked me). I probably read all of these books more time than I did the Harry Potter and that's an achievement!
But, there is nothing to say, even years later I still enjoy reading this and flipping through the pages brings me immense happiness. And with certainty, I can say that I will never get rid of this book. ...more

And now I found all of these encyclopedias I owned and read. And the amount is a bit frightening.
Looking at this one right now, I read the parts till the 18th century so many times! I still have the post-it stickers in it, after all these years. However, I don't think I ever read the 20th century part....more

I read it a long time ago when I was staying with my grandparents, and there was a huge collection of A.C.Doyle's stories, and I loved this one. After leaving, I still remembered this one (the story but not the title), and tried to find it somewhere but I could not find it. And when I went back, I could not even find the book. (My Grandma was not even sure what book I was talking about, a bit creepy). So when I stumbled upon this one, I realised it was the one I was searching for. I am ecstatic right now! No other Sherlock story has stuck with me so much that I remembered it for years. A quick and very fun read....more

I still like it but now being older I can see that it is very brief and many important things are missing from this book. But hey, still love it, and while reading it, I can remember my obsession with Cleopatra. I even wanted to be an archaeologist, and I dreamed about finding Cleopatra's Tomb. I, unfortunately, did not go that way but still. This book holds an important part of my childhood.
Co na me z te knihovny nevypadne? Doslova... Tohle jsem mohla číst, tak 50x. Pořád jsem schopná ji odříkát. :)...more

“A liar will not be believed, even when he speaks the truth.”
I get it why I was so annoyed with Aesop when I was younger. Now that I'm older, I feel like I need to re-read the whole Aesop's Fable.
It slightly reminded me of The Little Prince, when you are younger, it's a great story, but when you read it once you're older, it gets an entirely new meaning. ...more
