I recommend pairing this with something comedic. We are all compliant in this and we need to do something NOW. We carry phones in our pockets that are worth more than these miners will see in a year. If that’s not enough you should be terrified about the uranium being smuggled into North Korea! I don’t see think the book is organized particularly well but I think really important and you should read it now. I wish this had ended with a call to action about something we could do to be less complicit in these horrors; right me I just feel hopeless. 4.3 stars...more

I admit that I have never heard of the Nap Ministry before I just liked the name of the book and I’m so glad I picked it up. The amount of tension I can feel in my body trying to escape while I read this book is so concerning but I’m so thankful that it has been brought to my attention by the book. I can literally feel my heart rate slow as I read this. I love this book. A must-read for leftists. 4.8 stars...more

I am determined to read everything he writes and I will probably cry during all of it, like I did during this. I feel that his soul understands mine somehow. I don’t read or enjoy poetry and I love this. “What is the purpose of poetry in a nation that demands that art be decorative and apolitical and removed from our historical and cultural circumstances?” All my love. 4.9 stars. ...more

I’ve seen the play several times (and of course the muppet version that my brother in law is obsessed with) and you can see the differences between the two but generally I really enjoyed it. It’s a story with good morals even for someone like me who hates Christmas and wishes people would be more thoughtful all year long. Not super religious even though it is about Christmas. Great book. Don’t need to reread but I wouldn’t mind. 4.2 stars...more

It covers queer issues, race, prison, and disability- topics often looked over by general labor and union books and sometimes movements. Ugh I want a general strike in America so bad. A must-read for the working class. We are taught that the people who came before us demanding rights were right but that we do not need any more than the ones we have now.
