Maybe that’s wEver After Always is, next to the fourth installment of the same series, the book in my TBR I had the most ridiculous expectations for. Maybe that’s why I waited so long to read it: I was terrified after how much my brain hyped it. Now I’m so grateful I waited because I can’t think of a better way to finish 2021!! yes, I'm a bit late reviewing it
I find the marriage crisis the most difficult romance trope to write. But when it’s well done, it’s also my favorite. And Chloe Liese? She has made the best one I’ve ever read.
“Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you won’t know how much a person you love is hurting because that person doesn’t want to hurt the people who love them.”
Ever After Always is the story of Freya, the oldest of the Bergman Brothers, and her husband Aiden. After almost ten years of marriage, they are falling apart by trying to protect the other instead of expressing their worries, making the wall between them higher and higher. Until Freya is done, and they have to face the reality: they love each other, but their marriage is dying.
Aiden stole my heart since the first chapter by showing his pure love for Freya. After experiencing in his own flesh how hard it is to live in poverty, he doesn’t want the baby they are planning to have to ever starve. So he decides to show Freya his love by working hard on a new project that could make money for their kids, making his anxiety worse in the process. Only that he forgot to explain his anxiety to her, or what he is working on, or that Freya needs him by her side, instead of him working twenty-four-seven and always on the phone.
Of course, he is not the only one to blame. Freya, who always carries her heart on her sleeve, forgot that expressing feelings is not as easy for other people. Forgot to tell him she was hurting, that she needed him.
Reading this book was as heartbreaking as it was hopeful, because you could see how much they loved each other, even if they weren’t talking to each other, and wish they solve their differences so that they could be together again.
“We can’t possibly hope to always live ‘happily’. But ‘ever after’? That we can hope for and choose. You're that person, for me. You’re my ever after.”
Every feeling, thought and problem felt so real I was completely absorbed by the story. While I liked Freya, Aiden’s anxiety and fears were the ones that touched me the most. I could see how everything his brain was telling him was wrong, how he was showing love the wrong way, all his flaws and insecurities, and only made me want to hug him and make Freya to forgive him because damn, it hurted so much. He was just trying to do what he thought was best.
“What if I put it on your mind, showed you how invested I was, then I failed?” “Then you’d have pursued a dream and tried and failed and learned something, and I’d be there for you.”
But not every part of the book was angsty and emotional. Chloe Liese masterfully balanced the marriage-crisis with happy scenes of them before and loads of Bergman family content. I loved both sides of the book so much I wanted to highlight the whole book. The dynamics between the Begmans are so good I’d read books only about them, not romance needed, just them being the loudest, craziest, best family ever. My only problem is that choosing a favorite is mission impossible. Ren is perfect (probably too good to be true, but if he was real I’d marry him in a heartbeat), Frankie’s dry humor is unbeatable:
Ren stares at babies like I stare at burgers -like there’s never enough of them and they’re vital to existence.
Ziggy’s love for books would make her my best friend, Axel and Ronney’s chemistry and sexual frustration is killing me and Viggo comes quoting Lisa Kleypas and making all his brother shut up with his words:
Struggling will never make you less of a man or less of a husband to Freya. Struggling means you’ve been brave. It means you’re showing up to life and trying. And that’s enough, man.”
Now it’s when I try to be objective and find possible critics to the story... Sorry, I can’t think of any. If you love the Bergamn Brothers, marriage crisis trope and a realistic romance with fun and hard parts, I don’t know how you won't enjoy this one.
You wouldn’t believe how much I’m loving this series. Well, you may do, because I can’t shut up... It’s just everything I’ve ever wanted! Cole McCade You wouldn’t believe how much I’m loving this series. Well, you may do, because I can’t shut up... It’s just everything I’ve ever wanted! Cole McCade writes the best slow burn and his writing style is so beautiful! I’m OBSESSED.
“You are all spikes and ice on the outside, but inside… there’s more emotion than I think even you know how to handle, Seong-Jae. You’re a storm of silence, seen through glass.”
Some of my favourites quotes spoiler-free, because they are gorgeous and I truly don’t want to spoil anything from this beautiful episode:
“Being out here every day is crushing, Seong-Jae. Soul-destroying. (...) So I smile to remind myself I still have a soul left, so I can keep moving and do what I need to do.”
That fucking ghost of a smile, Malcolm will do anything for that ghost of a smile; would drug himself in it, destroy himself for it, anything for Seong-Jae to look at him the way he was now. Somehow Seong-Jae had a way of making the small things into something shattering, and Malcolm would hang on every last one of those small things until he lived for them day to day, if only Seong-Jae would let him.
Parfois, le cœur se cache derrière l’esprit. (Sometimes the heart hides itself behind the mind.)
Bring Down the Stars is a book about friendship, Parfois, le cœur se cache derrière l’esprit. (Sometimes the heart hides itself behind the mind.)
Bring Down the Stars is a book about friendship, loyalty and love. The hero, Weston Turner, comes from a poor family struggling to pay the bills since his father left them, when Weston was seven. But Weston´s talent to write makes him win a scholarship to study in a prestigious school. There, he mets Connor. Connor is nothing like Weston. He doesn't have worries, his parents are rich and his brother is the golden boy of the school. But he defends Weston against bullies and they quickly become friends. Weston's intelligence, talent and hard work make him the perfect influence for Connor, so Connor´s parents take Weston and his family under their wing. They help to pay their bills and treat them like family.
And where I came from, debts must always be repaid.
They go to college together, and that's when Autumn appears. Her boyfriend cheated on her a couple of months ago and she is afraid of being hurt again, so she is not looking for anything serious. Weston likes her, but he doesn't think he is worthy of a girl like Autumn. So, when she catches Connor's eyes, Weston lets them be together. Even though he is falling in love with her. Even though they are made for each other. But Connor can´t make her happy by himself, so Weston helps him. Pretending to be Connor, Weston calms her through the phone when she cries, texts her to fix things when dates go wrong, writes her letters and poems. Connor loves her, but he can't write like Weston does. It is not cheating, it's just translating his feelings to paper. Isn´t it?
Yes, this book has so much angst. But I loved every single page. I wanted to mark every scene, specially the dialogues between Weston and Autumn. They talk about books, society, poems, life... I love this kind of “intelectual” dialogues, they give me the vibes of Tessa & Will (The Infernal Devices) or Darcy & Lizzie (Pride and Prejudice). They have so much chemistry! But Autumn doesn´t realize it. And I can´t blame her since Connor and Weston are not being honest.
From my point of view, I loved this “love triangle” because it´s not like the ones I usually read. Normally, the woman (if it´s one woman and two men) is all the time doubting, and hurting both of the heroes, and that pissed me off. But in this book, Weston and Connor are the ones that made the triangle, and Autumn is in the middle, obviously confused because of their lies. So, for me, it's more a slow-burn romance - which I hope it will end up well- with a lot of angst between Weston and Autumn. (view spoiler)[ I understand that some people prefer Weston and others Connor but (in my opinion) Autumn knows exactly what she loves:
I wanted Connor’s letters and Weston’s conversations. I wanted Connor’s poetry and I wanted Weston’s electricity that set my blood on fire. (hide spoiler)]
On the other hand, there is the amazing friendship between Connor and Weston. They share everything, always supporting each other and their differences make them perfect together. Connor is outgoing, fun and a ray of light, the kind of person is impossible not to love. Weston is quiet, brutally honest - most of the time -, blunt and clever. He´s a really talented writer and runner, and has an acid humour. All of this, plus his arrogance while talking to strangers, is the reason he´s not nearly as cherished. Last but not least, we have Ruby, Autumn's best friend, who always makes me laugh. I love a bit of com in romance, and Ruby is perfect for it: sassy, funny and with no filters.
If all that wasn´t enough, Emma Scott uses Ocean Eyes (Billie Eilish) as soundtrack of this beautiful story. WHY so perfect?
“I would have nominated you for Best Eyes.” (...) She hummed a few notes. “Ocean eyes and diamond mind. (...) Her lyrics are like poetry. You know? They have something real to say.”
“You like poetry?”
Please say no.
“I love it.”
To sum up, if you like a well written romance with amazing characters and the best of friendships, I truly recommend you to give “Bring Down the Stars” a chance....more

I had the most ridiculously high expectations for this book and it lived up to all. Always Only You is an unforgettable romance featuring a grumpy, independent heroine and a cinnamon roll, beautiful inside-and-out hero.
*Disclaimer: this review is full of quotes and fangirling.
“She’s the first person who I ever felt right around. Like I’m not a walking contradiction who’ll never belong anywhere, but someone who actually makes a bit of sense. Like I don’t have to choose between these different parts of myself."
Francesca is the only woman Soren Bergman has ever wanted. Unluckily for him, she works in the same team he plays in, so they can’t be together. But Ren is a patient man and he can -and he will- wait until their love is not forbidden anymore. He only hopes that, when the time comes, Francesca will want him too.
When someone breaks into Francesca’s apartment and she comes to his house to live while everything gets fixed, Ren knows it’s now or never. Will he be able to convince her they have always meant to be?
I want Francesca Zeferino. She’s been the ultimate goal. And now I finally have a clear shot.
I LOVED this book since the first pages and didn’t stop loving it until the end. It was such a delicious pleasure to lose myself in it, fangirling and sighing and loving all the gorgeous characters Always Only You is full of.
It features two of my favourite trops: a big family with strong bonds and awesome dynamics, and autistic characters. PLUS an it’s-so-perfect-it-hurts hero! WHY are books so beautiful? They will end up spoiling RL!!
Meet our hero...
SOREN BERGMAN. He Who Will Not Stop Smiling.
↬ Hockey player, sunshine bookworm, romantic soul.
Ren is not only a hopeless romantic waiting for the woman, a bookworm who cries while reading to children in hospital and a true gentleman with the kindest soul. He is honest, determined, humble, caring... Can someone tell me what is his supposed flaw? Because I didn't see any, but maybe I was too busy dying of love.
“Lord help me. He smiles while reading.”
Meet our heroine…
FRANCESCA ZEFERINO: The Ice Queen.
↬ Sharp mind, gold heart, iron determination.
It’s been so long since I embraced the part of myself that aches to come to life when Ren’s near. The one that laughs and jokes, that hugs hard and kisses deeply. The one that cries at sappy movies and throws open her heart for those she loves. The one that believes someone could love her without one day resenting her, without seeing her laundry list of needs and hurdles as burdens but rather as beautiful parts of what make her her.
Frankie doesn’t want a relationship, for all people she ever loved ended up seeing her as a burden and breaking her in the process. Her caring heart is now well hidden beneath layers of coldness and she’s not letting it out. Frankie hardly ever smiles, jokes or shows feelings. She’s deadly serious on the outside, but her mind is the funniest.
Archaic male demonstrations of protectiveness are not sexy. Archaic male demonstrations of protectiveness are not sexy. Archaic-
Dammit, this is sexy and my body knows it. I can’t deny it any more than I can deny my Harry Potter panties are now as wet as a rainy day at Hogwarts.
She loves reading and her POV is full of HP-related comments. How I’m supposed to not love her?? Also, THAT critic. Chloe Liese, I salute you!
“ What did she do now?”
“Just showed that you can write a magical world brimming with complex, label-defying characters and still be a trans-exclusionary feminist disappointment.”
The amount of iconic, complex, non-cliché characters Always Only You has is breathtaking. I’m pretty sure I’ve just found a new favourite author, I can’t wait to read the other books in the Bergman series *cough* Rooney and Axel *cough*. I have only read one scene with these two, but it was enough for me to know they are going to rock my world.
When he notices Rooney, he does a double take. “Your hair is shorter.”
“Yeah, I chopped it. What do you think?”
He stares at her, wetting his bottom lip with his tongue. “You changed it.”
Her smile falters. “You don’t like it?”
() Axel stares at Rooney still. “I think… I need to get used to it. In my head you have long hair.”
“Well, at least I’m in your head.”
DAMN GIRL! Also, why is this book full of bookworms and where are they in RL?? I need to be adopted by the Bergmans; Ziggy, Frankie and I would be besties.
I think Ziggy is reading. At her own birthday party. Smart girl.
Overall, Always Only You is the perfect romance if you love friends-to-lovers, slow-burn, nerdy heroes, great side characters, big families, autistic characters and independent, brilliant heroines.
Chloe Liese’s writing is sexy, light and heart-warming, focused on real characters full of life and authenticity. I can’t wait to read more by her, and if you haven’t yet, I truly recommend to give this one a try!!
We love, entranced by the breathtaking view, and we fall, not knowing where we’ll land.

"Heels over Head" is my new favourite MM romance (next to HIM) and it really deserves more credit. I pick it up because my favourite BookTuber (gabbyreads) recommended it. I´m really grateful since it was the first time - and only-I heard about this book.
Jeremy, as most elite athletes, has been working all his life to get a gold olympic medal. He is the perfect athlete: focused, hard-working and talented. He´s been trained by a legend, Andrey, who was retired and decided to return to coach him. Jeremy is one of the best divers in the world, but his dad is ashamed of him. He´s always telling Jeremy that diving is for "fags" (his own words). Jeremy didn´t even tell him that he is actually gay - and he´s not going to. He only want his father to be proud of him and thinks he´ll be if he wins the Olympic medal. So his life consists of training, studying and staying "inside the closet". Brandon is the opposite from Jeremy. He´s openly gay and doesn´t really care about medals. He loves diving and he´s just got a scolarship for it - he can barely believe his luck! He´s been diving only for two years, but he´s incredible talented. So talented, that Andrey makes another excepcion and decides to train him too. But Brandon is not as serious as Jeremy, and Jeremy is angry at him for waste his talent. But Brandon want to be his friend and show Jeremy he´s wrong.
The book is written in dual POV. Although Jeremy is the one who wins the championships, Brandon is the HEROE of this book without doubt. Brandon is so nice, charming and cute. He´s the reason this book exists, because Jeremy is truly rude at him in the beginnig. I would have stop trying to be friendly with an asshole, but Brandon is a ray of light. However, I didn´t hate Jeremy because I truly connected with him. He´s a little like me: workaholic, always doing everything perfect and focused in his goal. He´s also a cold-hearted bastard (Brandon´s words). He kind of deletes his emotions because he thinks they would make him weak. So he keeps going without feeling focused only in the Olympic Games. Thankfully, he´s only rude at the beginning, but their friendship will be built by small steps. But if you don´t like a focused, hard-working character, you´ll hate Jeremy and this book is not for you. If you were a athlete, you are workaholic, or just don´t mind this personality, you´ll connect with Jeremy too. But "Heels Over Head" is not only about sport and love. It´s also about a boy who doesn´t want to tell the world he´s gay. It was so hard listening to his family, and how they make Jeremy feel bad about who he is. When I often read MM romance, the characters are openly gay, or think that they are straight and they´re not. They may had problems with their family, but you don´t usually see a man like Jeremy, 22 years old, who know that he´s gay and tries to delete that part of him. And you have Brandon, who has already fought for his freedom, and doesn´t deserve having to hide again.
"Heels Over Heads" was the perferct book for me. It´s a slow-burn, friend-to lovers (almost enemies to lovers) romance, that deals with being gay in a homophobic family and learning to accept yourself and be proud of who you are. But if you are looking for romance, there is a lot of love - and hot scenes- too! It´s well-written, easy to read and entertaining. The characters are so human, beautiful and cute. I connect with them 100%. I cried when Jeremy hurts Brandon with his words, cried again when Jeremy realised that he´s wrong, and weep listenning to his dad. I don´t like drama, but this book has a the perfect little amount to make this love story EPIC....more

The Kiss Quotient is sexy, emotional and full of real characters that you won’t forget. But, what can I say? We are talking about one of my all-time-favourite books!!
Stella (h) is not good at relationships, hates sex and tries to stay away from men. But her mom wants grandchildren and our heroine wants her mom to be happy. So, Stella comes up with an idea: she will hire a escort to learn “how to be good at sex”. After all, practice makes perfect, right?
Michael can’t believe his eyes when he meets his new client. Stella doesn’t need an escort, she needs a man who treats her like she deserves. But Stella is convinced she needs him, and Michael wants to help. At least, that’s what he keeps telling himself. Too bad his heart has other plans...
You know when you read a story and feel that’s what I have been looking for in all the others? When you finally find a book you will carry on your heart until you no longer breathe? Well, that's The Kiss Quotient for me. Words are not enough to express how much it means for me, how much I cried, laughed and smiled with the characters. I hardly ever weep, but Helen Hoang’s writing is my Achilles heel. I feel so much while reading this book, my heart breaks when Stella cries, heals when hers does. It’s messy, meaningful, perfect.
I want you better than calculus, and math is the only thing that unites the universe.
I LOVE Stella, her shine spoiled the rest of the characters for me. I need her to be okay, to be happy, because my heart was hers since the beginning. Strong, independent and hard-working, she doesn’t let anyone tell what she can’t do. She faces all the things that are difficult for her and it breaks my heart seeing her fail over and over again, until she achieves it. Because giving up is not in her dictionary.
She told herself she was tougher than this. She wasn’t going to fall apart over a man who didn’t want her. (...)
She wasn’t a robot or a disabled autistic girl. She was herself. She was enough. She could be anything. She could make herself into anything. She could prove everyone wrong.
As for Michael, this man deserves a big hug because all the things he did for love are far from ordinary. They destroyed him, broke his confidence and now he doesn’t think he’s worthy anymore. However, he is still the most pacient, kindest person. Michael wants to prove himself he is good, and he wants Stella even though he knows she would never love him back. But he can help her, so she would be happy with whoever she ends up with. *crying*
That was his problem. He always loved too much. If he could just tear his heart out and stop feeling.
While Stella is by far my favourite, Michael was definitely made to love her. But I’m still bitter at him because she made me Stella cry, and nobody hurts my baby!!
Last but not least, the secondary characters are so well-written. Quan is, of course, my favourite. He manages to be iconic in all the scenes he’s in, showing he’s the sensitive cousin and helping both Michael and Stella when they needed it the most. He's fun yet serious, confident and humble, kind and honest... *sighs* I can’t wait to have his book in my hands!!
The Kiss Quotient is a breathtaking, extraordinary story that deals with characters facing their fears in order to finally be together. It’s sexy, romantic and fun to read, with direct language that will pierce your heart like a dagger.
This book inspired me to be braver, stronger, kinder. Helen Hoang, thank you so much for writing this unforgettable tale and the best of the heroines!! Stella, when I grow up I want to be like you!!
He groaned as suspicious dawned. “Don’t tell me… you’re a Korean drama fan?”
She tilted her head as a smile peeked over her lips. “Yes.”
“I do not look like Daniel Henney.”
“No, you look better.”

I´ve just finished it and it was PERFECT. Although I really enjoyed Him, the first book of the series, there was something missing. But nothing is missing at Us. I connect 200% with Wes and Jamie and the story is simple and beautiful. And don´t forget about Blake. He is Wes´s teammate and their new neighbourd. He has horrible timing and is always spoiling hot moments between the two. But Blake is a ray of light and it´s impossible not to fall for him. I loved the characters, the plot, how these two great authors wrote it... Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy, congratulations. This book is going to my favourite self. Thank you for creating this piece of heaven.
For those who read the first book, Him, and wanted to know if the second is worthy : Us is even better tham the first one. What are you waiting for? Read it! ;)

"Someone who really loves you wouldn't ask you to give up what you love, what you were meant to do".
Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin will always have a piece of my heart. It´s the perfect amount of fun, romance and friendship. A friends to lovers story written by the queen of the slow burn.
This book begins when Gabby, homeless and jobless, recibes a call from her twin, Eli, offering her the position as his band’s merch girl. She knows going on tour is not her dream job, but she will be able to spend time with her twin and his best friends. What she didn´t expect is to have a crush on Sacha, the singer of the headlining band. They quickly become friends, which only makes Gaby fall more and more in love with him. And, who can blame her? He is amusing, charming and so sexy…
He was too cute and so happy it overwhelmed me. His eyes met mine, all wide and starry like he'd discovered a new constellation. “I don´t remember the last time I had so much fun!”
There really wasn't a point in even trying to fight my feelings for this guy, was there?
I love this book so much because of the characters. Gaby, Sacha, Eli and his two best friends (Gordon and Mason) are so fun together! I was laughing so hard that my eyes were crying. Gaby is one of the boys: sassy, blunt, funny and without filters. I love her and Eli, so so much that I could have read the book only for them. But we also have Sacha, and he blew my mind. You can´t help falling in love with him!
Eli smiled quicky and winked at Sacha, only confirming the man-crush I felt he had on him. “Come on, Sach. You can translate what those tour guides are saying”
“They are speaking English”, I told my brother, feeling one of my eyes begin to twitch.
“But they have accents, Flabby, hello.”
I looked over my shoulder to find Sacha shaking his head, so I snickered. “Lucky for you, E, Sacha speaks stupid, so he can translate”.
Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin is a bit different from other Mariana Zapata´s books. It's funnier and not so centered in the romantic relationship, since the friendship between the characters is also important in the story.
However, this story is still a wonderful friend to lovers, slow burn romance (signature of MZ) that will make you laugh and sigh. Definitely the funniest Mariana Zapata´s book I´ve ever read!
“Flabby, I´d love a massage,” Mason blatantly suggested (..).
“Mason, I would love to not have a period, but we don't always get what we want”

The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever is definitely one of my favourite books by Julia Quinn. It was moving and made me cry, but I truly enjoyed it.
The story begins when Miranda was ten years old. A girl had been mean with her, and Turner, who was nineteen by then, tried to cheer her up. He told her that she would grow into herself and suggested her to keep a journal. Turner was so charming that Miranda fell in love with him. Eight years later, Turner is a widower. His wife has just died while she was riding to meet another man. She had been unfaithful to him for all her marriage and Turner wasn´t sorry for her. But he had change. He is not longer caring or nice, but bitter and cold. He treats Miranda badly, even when she is the only one able to heal him. But you can not choose whom to love...
I don´t know if I am the only one, but I have this issue. When I am looking for a new book, I read the reviews and there are often black or white answers: people who love it and people who hate it. And it is difficult to decide if the book is worthy. I´ve read other reviews of this book and my conclusion is that Miranda is the key. If you connect with her, as I do, you are going to love the book. Turner doesn´t deserve her. But I cried with her every time he broke her heart. I hardly ever cry while reading and, if I do, they are only one or two tears. But this book broke my heart completely. I couldn´t stop weeping. Miranda is nice, bright, sincere and strong. She is going to fight for Turner but she won´t let him destroy her over and over again. She has pride and she knows when to stop. Miranda is a gem. I love her, admire her and suffer with her. She is a five star woman. Turner is not an easy character. I fell in love with him when Miranda did, when she was eight. Half of the time, he is the old Turner: funny, loving, friendly. I completely understand why Miranda loves him. I love him too. The other half, he is hateful. And he made Miranda - and myself- cry. However, I have to say that he is not so bad. I hate when the male character is unkind all the time, and the female keeps forgiving him. I get that a lot the people do. But books like After, for giving and example, are not for me. Turner is not that bad, and Miranda has pride and won´t let him hurt her forever. The other issue for a lot of readers is the gap age. I hate when the man is a lot older than the woman. I totally understand that people are pissed off. But this is a HISTORICAL romance book. Eleven years was common by then. In fact, it will be really weird if they were the same age. I´ve read a lot of historical romance books, and this happens 90% of the time. To sum up, I highly recommend the book. It was moving and beautiful. My heart hurt so much that I had to reread it completely when I finished. But Miranda is a heroine, and she is worth every tear. Besides, Julia Quinn is a really good author with a beautiful writing. If you didn´t read yet the Bridgertons, let me recommend you "Romancing Mister Bridgerton" because Colin is my favourite male character ever and you are going to love him too!...more

I love Lisa Kleypas and I have read almost every book she had written. But Love in the Afternoon, along with Suddenly you, are my favourites ones. I oI love Lisa Kleypas and I have read almost every book she had written. But Love in the Afternoon, along with Suddenly you, are my favourites ones. I only wish I had discovered it before. When I read the synopsis, I thought It will be boring, because I don't usually like romantic books about wars, and slow, because they are going to use letters to communicate. I could not be more wrong. The letters are only a few, and they are lovely and essential in the story. Trust me, Christopher will be back soon. Moreover, you cannot be bored with Beatrix. You are going to love and adore her, and suffer with her. Christopher is going to make your heart race. And together, they are such a beautiful couple that you will fall for them. Hard....more
