As Thick As Thieves
is the final part in
The Night Thieves
duet series by R.E. Bond. Picking up from the cliffhanger to No Honor Among Thieves, As Thick As Thieves is the final part in The Night Thieves duet series by R.E. Bond. Picking up from the cliffhanger to No Honor Among Thieves, this second part has us jumping right back into Penn, Drake, Knox, Cruz and Stone’s story with the continuation of their multiple POVs. The book As Thick As Thieves did deliver when it came to the continuous corporation of elements that were showcased within the first book No Honor Among Thieves. Although that was to be expected since this was part two of a duet series. However this time round it seemed like Rachael definitely upped the ante, not just because there was even more drama, higher suspense building due to the growing mystery and secrets being kept. But with the surprise twists thrown in, it made for some explosions that would catch you off guard having not expected it. When it came to the characters, there was some growth with some of them, which is explored through their POV chapters. However it was not as much as you would come to think or expect given all that is going on in their lives and around them with friends and family. Which did become more of a focus IMO, but that’s not to say they didn’t have their moments. Like with Knox for example, there were definitely changes in him when you compare him from who he was and how he behaved in book one to the changes we saw in book two. Something that was definitely good to see and learn about. Since it included gaining knowledge into his past which up until now had mostly been a mystery. With that said, there were good moments to be had throughout here and there that ultimately kept me reading on. Unfortunately that didn't mean it wasn’t without its issues for me, of which there were quite a few. For instance, there were times where the main narrative did get lost having been pushed to the back, instead allowing the lesser important subplots to come forward and be given more preference IMO. And yet the subplots that should’ve been given importance, due to its impact to the overall story, instead was pushed aside. The continuous crossover that had us seeing appearances from certain favourites *Cough* Skeet was no doubt enjoyable. But at the same time it had its moments of being too much, considering how certain secondary characters ending up becoming more like main characters. Even more so than the actual main characters whose story it was. IMO it felt unnecessary with how often some secondary characters appeared and were mentioned throughout, since it turned into nonessential filler. There was the case of inconsistencies, which might have seemed menial to some, but the fact that the amount of times it was mentioned at first, only to be forgotten after made no sense. Especially since later attention would be given to it through the pointing out and/or the mentioning of it. The consistency just never seemed to be there, which just got to me that it couldn't be ignored. As Thick As Thieves no doubt had me deep in the emotions from everything it made me feel, which usually is a good thing because it keeps you invested more. Like when it came to reading about Drake, Knox and Cruz who were my favourites and made the book enjoyable. But Penn and Stone were a whole other story, having me frustrated to no end that the book caused me to take many breaks when it came to their parts. Although in the beginning the book had me rooting for Penn, knowing all that she faced, endured and suffered through. However near the half way mark is where it all changed for me. Her character seemed to give off mixed signals leaving me lost and confused with no understanding of her whatsoever majority of the time. Resulting in not being a fan. Her behaviour and actions made no sense half the time, especially with the decisions she made. Particularly in regards to Stone. And the fact that she was very easily hypocritical of others, without seeing her own hypocrisy was amusing to say the least. Especially with her selfish ways of always putting herself and her feelings first. Having been blind to others. Yes, there were times it was to be expected given what she went through. But that was no excuse, knowing she wasn’t the only one to have suffered. When it came to the relationship between Penn and Stone, it lacked a lot, especially when you compare it to her relationship with Drake, Knox and Cruz. Although it can be said that was because they had spent more time together in which R.E. Bond displayed the development and growth of their relations. The fact that it was never really there between Penn and Stone is why it didn’t feel genuine or real IMO. There was no exploration to show depth or growth between them, making it lack a true connection/bond like she had with the other guys. Plus the fact that it came out of the blue, diving into it being Stone this, Stone that all the time just made no sense. Even more so knowing it seemed to make her forget the other guys who had been there for her from the very beginning with having loved and cared for her deeply. Instead pushing those relationship to the backseat just to give Stone priority, a guy who up until awhile ago was her enemy. In the end, though its obvious As Thick As Thieves did have its many issues for me. That didn't stop me from giving up, considering there were enough pros that had me finishing the story to see how R.E. Bond would end The Night Thieves duet series once and for all. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 3.5/3.75 ⭐️ No Honor Among Thieves by author R.E. Bond is the first book in her newest series The Night Thieves. This Dark Romance, Reverse Harem 3.5/3.75 ⭐️ No Honor Among Thieves by author R.E. Bond is the first book in her newest series The Night Thieves. This Dark Romance, Reverse Harem follows the story of Penelope ‘Penn’ Whitlock and The Night Thieves also known as Cruz, Drake, Stone and Knox, through the telling of their multiple POVs. If there is anything that needs to be said and known when it comes to my review for this book, it’s that it had me in all sorts with my thoughts and feelings all over the place after finishing read the story. Ultimately causing me to take awhile to decide on my rating, which still has me unsure about it even now. The times the storyline focused on the plot and the in-depth look into some of the characters had me intrigued. Starting off strong with giving us not only an introduction to the characters, as well as giving a little background information in order to lay out the foundation for the building of the plot had me forging onwards. Through the set up laid out in No Honor Among Thieves, R.E. Bond had us learning not only about Penn, but also The Night Thieves aka Cruz, Drake, Stone and Knox, all courtesy of the multiple POVs that gave us a look into their thoughts from the display of their inner monologue. Whilst also presenting forth the world they lived in when it came to their lives and work. Which surprisingly included crossovers, with the inclusion of appearances from some beloved characters that came from R.E. Bond’s other series. Something that was very enjoyable for me, especially when it came to seeing certain characters *Cough Skeet Cough*. Within the narrative, the mystery behind the moments of the unknown kept your interest piqued. All the whilst the conflict had you invested, given the constant bouts of drama that led to one of many showdowns. Some of which not so surprisingly enough led to majorly high levels of steam, seeing as R.E. Bond ignited a bonfire every time from the fiery heat she delivered. Unfortunately the story wasn’t without its issues, since it did end up falling short for me. And funnily enough the reasoning for that will surprise you…the steam. IMO the story seemed to have lost substance because of the major spotlight on the many, many steamy scenes, which ended up paving the way for a lot of repetition. The storyline just seemed to go around circles for a majority of the book, seeing Penn getting down and dirty with some of the guys. If it wasn’t one, then it was other, only to then go back again. Switching it up between the two and then with the addition of another, to then go right back and do it all over again. This resulted for me to somewhat lose interest in reading the same thing way too many times than necessarily. Ultimately it’s what made the plot become lost IMO, the lack of the storyline disappearing throughout all those scenes. Which ended up taking a good portion of the story, more than 60% IMO. With that said, given the start and ending of the No Honor Amongst Thieves, amongst a few other moments sprinkled throughout, it’s what saved the story for me and not quitting regardless of my issues. And even when it came to the direction of where the ending was heading, which did turn up to be somewhat expected. That still didn’t stop the book from grabbing a hold of me in following along the lead up to the cliffhanger delivered. Curious to see the direction R.E. Bond will take the story in the next book As Thick As Thieves. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Merged review: 3.5/3.75 ⭐️ No Honor Among Thieves by author R.E. Told t 3.75 ⭐️ After reading Dreary Shadows Part One, R.E. Bond had me looking forward to Dreary Shadows Part Two given the cliffhanger it ended on. Told through multiple POVs, the story picks up a year after the events of Dreary Shadows Part One. The storyline seemed to focus heavily on Lilith and her relationships, new and old. All due to what goes down when the Shadows Brothers consisting of Chaos, Enzo, Cain, Sebastian and Emmett return and end up under the same roof as newbie vampires Zeus and Gunnar. Ultimately leading to chaotic drama to ensue, one because of Lilith's newly discovered powers. Something that isn’t easy for her control and made all the more harder to deal with when trying to juggle the multiple bonds she finds herself apart of with multiple vampires. Especially when emotions get involved leading to some wild, crazy and hectic situations. Which made for some entertaining moments that had you laughing. The emotions that Rachael explored through the different characters had you feeling what exactly some of them were going through and dealing with. Other than just reading about it through their POVs. Lilith had me feeling sorry for her to see her endure pain and heartache from the suffering she was living through. Which made me feel bad for her. At the same time she did have me feeling annoyed and frustrated by her too. Firstly because of her treatment of her best friends Ezra and Blade, the guys who had been there for her when the Shadow Brothers left her. And secondly her naivety, which led to stupidity from a lot of poor decisions being made on her part. The fact of the matter is her decisions paved way for a lot of childish behaviour. It felt like she was a petulant child with her tantrums and being so reckless and irresponsible. Despite knowing what she was doing was wrong and would lead to trouble. As if she was too blind to see what was in front of her eyes. While the story did have bits and pieces to help continuing building the narrative. It still felt there was still a lot missing when it came to bringing forward a deeper in-depth exploration of the storyline. And that was on top of the lack of any real development being made with the narrative in order to allow progress to be made from the overall story IMO. At least not until closer to the end. A majority of the storyline equalling to about 80-90% focused on the steam, having the book revolve around Lilith and her need to be with each of the guys. Which may have been understandably so, since it did play a fairly decent size part in the series plot given her situation. However the focus being majorly on a lot of steam and blood due to the bonds is what caused a lot of repetition to occur. Watching Lilith and each of the vampires spend time together showcased the lack of depth in the relationship she shared with some of them. Making it hard to know if there really was a true bond between some of them other than the fiery heat they shared and blood lust. Despite my issues, Dreary Shadows Part Two still managed to keep me hanging on. Which is why Rachael still has me looking forward to Part Three to see what will occur and how the finale to the series will play out. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Wed To The Devil
picks right up from the cliffhanger Vivian Wood left us hanging on in
Deal With The Devil.
Having us jumping right back into Tal Wed To The Devil picks right up from the cliffhanger Vivian Wood left us hanging on in Deal With The Devil. Having us jumping right back into Talia Rachel Chance and Remington Darren ‘Dare’ Morgan’s story. Given the focus on Talia and Dare’s relationship, the development of it allowed us to not only see the growth from the changes that came into place within the steps that took. As well as the steps back, considering the push and pull, back and forth they had going on between them. Particularly from Dare’s side. It also played into showcasing the character development, since there was still a lot more to see and learn about Talia and Dare. Paving the way for Vivian to open them up, whilst unravelling their layers, in exposing their raw feelings and emotions. Showing their individual growth from allowing us to not only get a real feel for them both. But also get to know them on a further and deeper level, compared to in the first book. Given the further exploration that was presented forth for us to see. In Wed To The Devil we were able to see Talia really and truly blossom with her character's growth, from stepping up and out of her comfort zone in the new life she was living. All courtesy of the changes leading to a transformation in her life. However the fact that she stayed level headed and grounded had you applauding and liking her more. She truly was a great character to read about, given her likability, especially when it came to putting others first. Making her such a sweet, kind, caring and loving character. As for Dare he surprised me from his changes that had him slowly yet surely coming out of his tough exterior shell. Proving that there was a lot more to him than meets the eye, and what he puts out there for people to see. However it was a rough journey given his constant back and forth, on top of second guessing himself. Causing him to make mistakes, that sometimes he was able to see the error of his ways. Proving that he was trying his best to change and be better, at least for Talia. Proving that deep, deep down inside of him, there was a soft, loving and caring person, even if he chose to deny it. Despite the narrative focusing a majority on Talia, Dare and their relationship. That didn’t stop Vivian from still incorporating subplots that included the involvement of secondary characters, which led to a full circle, due to leading back to Talia and Dare and displaying how it interconnected to their story. Making it a fulfilling read, especially with the rising tension, that had suspense building, courtesy of the mystery and the secrets, lies and betrayal that was still going around and being had. Ultimately bringing you closer and closer to the edge of your seat in anticipation of what’s to come and when it would be. It's no shocker that Wed To The Devil ended on another cliffy, however the surprise did come in how it ended. Talk about being unexpected, having not seen it finishing this way. Safe to say the final book Vow To The Devil in Married at Midnight trilogy from author Vivian Wood could not come fast enough. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Persephone Autumn is back again with another duet series from within
Bay Area Duets.
Having already read the first three duet series, Persephone had me hooked, which is why it had me wanting to read
Insomniac Duet.
Restless Night the first book within the duet tells the story of Peyton Alexander and Micah Reed through their dual perspective. Peyton and Micah’s journey may have started back in High school, when Peyton’s secret crush Micah ultimately ended up humiliating and crushing her heart in front of the whole school in a way that left her broken and scarred. Whilst Peyton may have still carried that pain, despite many years having gone by. That didn't mean she was still the same girl from back then, now standing tall and strong, she is always ready and willing to give it all back to her enemy Micah. Since he happens to be the manager of the club she bartends at. This book was most probably the most entertaining story from the series. From the get go, the back and forth that Peyton and Micah had going with their banter led to some comical moments. Always throwing metaphorical punches at one another with pushing each other’s buttons. It was funny to see and watch, especially considering it had you waiting to see what they would do or say next. At the same time they brought a lot of tension too from the drama, given the emotions they were dealing with. All of which seemed to be changing over time the more they were in each other’s company. If there is one thing Persephone Autumn is known for, it’s that she knows how to write a Slow Burn. Restless Night probably has to be the slowest Slow Burn I have ever read. It’s what lead to Peyton and Micah's relationship being a journey that was snail pace slow. Which was understandably so and can’t be faulted, especially since it made it more realistic with them being enemies and all. In fact it’s what reeled me in, keeping me on my toes wondering will they or won’t they? And when? If they were to forward together. There was a period where my attention started to wane when the excitement that had kept me going (from the anticipation of seeing where the story would lead) fizzled out. However it didn’t last too, seeing as Persephone managed to reel me back, bringing the pizazz needed back that ended up keeping me holding on and reading through to the very end. Oh damn that ending. Wow, Persephone Autumn did it again. Can’t say the cliffy wasn’t expected, but what was unexpected was what occurred in the cliffhanger. After reading Restless Night, it definitely has me looking forward to seeing how Peyton and Micah’s story will conclude in A Love So Bright. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Merged review: Persephone Autumn is back again with another duet series from within Bay Area Duets. Having already read the first three duet series, Persephone had me hooked, which is why it had me wanting to read Insomniac Duet. God of Vengeance a Grumpy/Sunshine, Forced Close Proximity, Mafia Romance follows the story of Damiano Custanti Falco; the Capo dei Capi of Cosa Nostra and FMC Gabriella di Bella through the telling of their dual perspective. The plot may have consisted of the usual elements to be found in author Michelle's Mafia Romance, whether that be drama, causing suspenseful build up, particularly with secrets kept, resulting in an action packed, thrilling ride. Ultimately paving the way for an enjoyable reading experience. But in the case of God of Vengeance, there was much more to be navigated through, from all that needed to be divulged when it came to the characters and the development within. The deliverance of a narrative from how emotionally charged the journey was surprised me somewhat. Then again give all jam-packed emotions, it meant there was going to be furthermore to explore. Even more so through the character development of Damiano and Gabriella, considering all that was revealed and divulged over time. Damiano definitely showed and proved why he was not only apart of Cosa Nostra. But the Capo dei Capi of Cosa Nostra. His character development may have showcased him as a tall, dark, sexy, ruthless, cold and broody man to start with, his personality speaking loud and clear of a Mafia Boss. Alongside being a loving son towards his mother. Yet as time went on, through the exploration, it opened up another side to him due to the unexpected onslaught of emotions unleashed that he was faced with. This resulted in seeing him slowly acknowledge and deal with the effects of it all and how it played into his behaviour and actions towards Gabriella within their evolving relationship. Knowing that he could no longer ignore it. As for Gabriella, she was strong yet innocent and tough yet stubborn. Author Michelle had me in awe of her throughout, more so when it was discovered all that she had been faced with and endured, yet never allowing it to cause her to back down or stop her from standing tall and fierce. Always attempting to persevere. It definitely spoke wonders about who she was as a person and her character. These two may have been complete opposites in the lives they had lived before meeting, but that didn’t mean they weren’t perfect for each other given the similarities they shared in their personalities with being tough and strong. It was through the development of their relationship, given the unravelling of their characters layers, their connection was established to then go onto bloom into being loving, caring, heartfelt and deep. Seeing the warmth through the affection Damiano showed towards Gabriella with his fiercely overprotectiveness over time from the growth was just so sweet. Whilst it was bittersweet seeing Kings of Mafia series come to an end with the finale that was God of Vengeance. Michelle Heard managed to end it on a great note with not only reading the thrilling yet emotionally charged story of Damiano and Gabriella. The inclusion of the epilogue ended up being the cherry on top of the cake. Though can’t deny it had me wishing for a spin-off of second generation after reading it. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |

| If 10 ⭐️ was possible, you best believe that would’ve been my rating for Sinful Sacrifice. If 10 ⭐️ was possible, you best believe that would’ve been my rating for Sinful Sacrifice. Sinful Sacrifice is book one in author Charity Ferrell's Mafia Romance series; Lucky Kings. The first book has us following Damien Bellini the capo for Lombardi family and Pippa Charlotte Elsher, both of who we first meet in Marchetti Mafia series. From very early on, there was no doubt in my mind Sinful Sacrifice would be a 5 ⭐️ read. Emotionally charged. Highs of angsty-ness. And never ending explosive chemistry shared between the Damien and Pippa. Was it any surprise the two had you falling down the rabbit hole when it came to reading their love story, devouring each and every page like there's no tomorrow. Although the story focused heavily around the character development of Damien and Pippa, alongside the unfolding of their evolving relationship. That’s not to say there wasn’t more going on, particularly in the background, given the subplots that contributed to the overall narrative. Seeing the development of Damien and Pippa's characters was showcased so well and thoroughly detailed. Considering the story was told through dual POVs, it allowed us to get a real feel for both the characters. Unravelling their layers, getting deep down in the nitty grittiness of who they were individually, the lives they led, including their careers and most importantly all that they felt and endured in not only every situation and event they faced and sometimes suffered through. But towards one another, seeing as Damien and Pippa's relationship was quite the whirlwind ride, due to being super emotionally charged. Honestly when it came to them both, they always seemed to unleash a tidal wave of emotions at each and every turn. Not just from within their relationship. But also from all that the two were experiencing and dealing with when it came to their own feelings. Something author Charity always made loud and clear in Damien and Pippa's inner monologue within their POV chapters. This resulted in my heart being put through the wringer, particularly from the heartache, pain, hurt and sadness the two endured due to outside forces trying to come in between them and cause problems that left them with no way out. As for the subplots, it brought forth not only secondary characters in the form of friends and families, some of who were considered enemies. And some that included worlds colliding, with the appearances of characters from Marchetti Mafia series. Showcasing not only how they fit into the storyline. But why, considering the drama from the ups and downs, pushing and pulling of situations and events the two faced. Mainly due to outside forces coming into play. Action packed thrills courtesy of the mafia aspect, all the while secrets, lies and deceit and the mystery building led to growing suspense contributing in creating even more bumps and hurdles Damien and Pippa needed to face and overcome in their already wild journey. Was it any wonder it had me gripped on tight, never wanting to let go. It goes without saying, the tumultuous whirlwind ride that author Charity delivered in the storytelling of Damien and Pippa was highly worthwhile. Each and every page turn of Sinful Sacrifice lured you in, only to trap you with being so consumed in seeing the unfolding of their relationship within the evolving narrative. Major props to Charity Ferrell for delivering a beautiful story that was Sinful Sacrifice. Even after finishing, she had me wanting more, wishing it hadn’t ended, which speaks volumes of how phenomenal Damien and Pippa’s story truly was. With that said, knowing this is the first book from Lucky Kings series, you best believe it has me excited for the next Sinful Ruin and seeing how Julian’s story will play out. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |

Priscilla by Abbi Glines Overall Rating: 4/4.5 ⭐️ The following reviews are for Priscilla by Abbi Glines and Samantha by Kelsie Rae. Priscilla by Abbi Glines 4 ⭐️ Through dual POVs we are told about Priscilla Benson and Riggs Dane’s life, all of which is shown and set in three different timelines. Helping us to not only learn about them as characters, but their own personal lives as well. Seeing the progress of how their lives changed with what they experienced in the passing years. This short novella Priscilla was emotional with some sweet and sad moments that had you feeling for the characters throughout. While I enjoyed the story when it came to Priscilla and Riggs and seeing just how far they both had come. Especially with the way Riggs was with Priscilla, when it came to his feelings. I felt like it wasn’t enough for me by the end. There was still so much to explore, seeing as the story was only 7 Chapters and so we aren’t able to get down into the true nitty grittiness of Priscilla and Riggs and their full journey. Whilst the cliffhanger ending may have been a simple leave you hanging ending. It didn’t stop me from feeling frustrated and wanting more. I hope Abbi Glines plans to turn it into a full story, just because I would love to see where she would take Priscilla and Riggs’s story if it ever comes to being more to it. Samantha by Kelsie Rae 4.5 ⭐️ Samantha was a sweet, cute and romantic story between Best Friends Samantha ‘Sam’ Ruckman and Phoenix Perry getting a Second Chance that had you sighing and swooning throughout. From the way Sam and Phoenix were reunited, to how they spent their time together was a fun mini adventure to follow. I absolutely enjoyed reading about them and getting to know them in their short story. It had it all when it came to being a great Second Chance story, considering the added bonus of it being a Rockstar Romance too. Not only were Sam and Phoenix perfect for each other, but they proved no matter how much time and distance had passed between them. The sparks were still flying with the connection that still burned between the two brighter than ever. My only dislike was I wish it had been a longer story, since by the end I wanted more as it wasn’t enough for me with being only 4 Chapters long. Other than that Kelsie Rae did a great job with writing this novella that is Samantha. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 3.75/4 ⭐️ The Shadow by author Alexis Winter is book 4 from Four Forces Security series. This interconnected Standalone has us following Four For 3.75/4 ⭐️ The Shadow by author Alexis Winter is book 4 from Four Forces Security series. This interconnected Standalone has us following Four Forces Security member Harvey Ransom and Aspen Wilder in a Fake Boyfriend, Contemporary Romance through dual POVs. Harvey and Aspen’s story had us riding through a plethora of emotions, hitting on the lighter side from the happy, sweet and cute moments. And the heavier side given the deeper emotions of pain, hurt, trauma and anguish. All courtesy of the journey that the two found themselves travelling upon. Particularly Aspen, who faced and endured suffering with the emotional and physical pain, something you learn about along the way of the story. Given the plot to The Shadow, author Alexis managed in delivering a story that flowed through. Resulting in having you continually turning the pages seeing the narrative made up of drama, mystery, secrets and lies, suspense and romance leading to some spicy steam develop onwards. Whilst also presenting a thorough character development that had us seeing the changes and growth of both Harvey and Aspen in their own ways, given their personal lives with how they lived and their jobs. As well as similarly from some similarities they shared given their past. Ultimately allowing us to dive into an in-depth exploration of the two along the way, including the blossoming of their relationship given their growing chemistry. Unfortunately the ending was a bit of a letdown for me, although it was mostly due to the climax. From all the suspenseful build up author Alexis presented as gearing towards the showdown, it had me expecting something major and explosive considering the importance that particular subplot played in the overall storyline. However what was delivered was not at all what she had me expecting, seeing as it was over before it even truly began with there not being anything to it either. On top of that the way the book ended didn't work IMO given the final chapter. That particular chapter should've been moved earlier with being closer towards the climax since it would’ve worked better that way in allowing the explosion that was missing with the showdown IMO. But also because it took away from the typical HEA ending in The Shadow. In the end, aside from the letdown, The Shadow by author Alexis Winter was still enjoyable with making for a good read. But then again that’s no surprise since when it comes to reading Alexis’s books, she always come through in creating a pleasant read. Which is what Harvey and Aspen's story delivered. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |

3.5 ⭐️ Boyfriend of the Hour from author Nicole French is an Age Gap, Grumpy/Sunshine, He Falls First, Fake Relationship Romance. This Standalone is 3.5 ⭐️ Boyfriend of the Hour from author Nicole French is an Age Gap, Grumpy/Sunshine, He Falls First, Fake Relationship Romance. This Standalone is told in 1st Person through Giovanna ‘Joni’ Zola POV and 3rd Person for Nathaniel ‘Nathan’ Delano Hunt. The storyline that followed Joni and Nathan’s journey was not a typical romance, mainly due to all the narrative had to divulge considering everything going on and explored. From diving into the in-depth development surrounding Joni, courtesy of her POV chapters that included her inner monologue, further adding to the details of the story. As well as Nathan too, however mostly through Joni’s eyes, given his chapters were only a few and told through 3rd person. It led to author Nicole taking us on a deeper and established ride than could be expected. With the inclusion of mental health and disorders, given what we learn about Joni and Nathan as the story developed and progressed, it played into showcasing an even more in-depth look into Joni and Nathan somewhat, the unfolding before our very eyes. The length of the book had author Nicole including as much detail as can be, unravelling layers, showing the nitty, grittiness of not only the characters, but how it played into their everyday lives as well as the relationship formed between the two, considering the bumps and hurdles they had to navigate through alone the way. On top of the ones of the secondary characters that came in the form of Joni and Nathan’s friends and family. Ultimately it made for an overall narrative that had a lot to give and take in. Especially when it came to the individual characters of Joni and Nathan, who had a lot to tell and explore through. Given the very detailed development showcased throughout the journey of them and their story. Whilst the book on a whole was a decent read and had its moments, unfortunately it wasn’t enough to ignore the issues the story had for me. The length of the book was a little too long for my liking, which in part was due to the many subplots going on behind the scenes. This not only caused the prolonging of the overall storyline with being unnecessarily longer than need it be. But would take away the focus from Joni and Nathan IMO. When it came to the pace of the story, it may have just been me, but it did feel a little too slow at times, as if you were at a standstill with no movement. This didn’t help with the subplots, since that tended to put a break on any progress occurring between Joni and Nathan. My other issue was the lack of perspective through Nathan’s eyes. Considering the length of the book, there should’ve been more chapters through Nathan’s POV and that too in 1st person, allowing for first hand development of his character as opposed to through Joni’s eyes. In the end, Boyfriend of the Hour by Nicole French made for a decent read, having mostly enjoyed seeing Joni and Nathan’s relationship flourish within the moments shared between the two. And so for that a job well done to author Nicole French. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |

Author Bea Paige is back with the second interconnected Standalone in
Princetown Heirs
series
The Rogue and His Flower.
Through dual perspective, Author Bea Paige is back with the second interconnected Standalone in Princetown Heirs series The Rogue and His Flower. Through dual perspective, this Age Gap, Marriage of Convenience, Older Brother’s Best Friend, Enemies to Lovers Romance follows Dalton Gunn and Daisy Hammer story. The Rogue and His Flower narrative and the development put forth through the journey Daisy and Dalton were taken upon resulted in a beautiful and deeply heartfelt story. However it wasn’t an easy ride, considering the many situations and events faced with hardships endured, leading to ups and downs, highs and lows, and pushing and pulling between not only Daisy and Dalton as individuals but their relationship that was tested too. But with outside forces coming into play in the form of secondary characters, it caused even further tension, drama and angsty-ness throughout. Ultimately contributing to a rollercoaster ride of a story, more so with seeing the two go from Enemies to Frenemies to Lovers in their relationship. On the outside Daisy and Dalton were similar with the tough exterior they both presented, however what was surprising was on the inside they were similar too. From the character development presented, we were able to see that too amongst more of Daisy and Dalton that was hidden within the layers that made up who they once were, to who they were now. Getting right down into the nitty, grittiness of trauma and deep emotions particularly on Daisy’s part, something author Bea presented throughout in their journey too. It gave us a real feel for them individually, whilst coming through loud and clear in their inner monologue within their POV chapters. Their journey showed growth to be had, that was slowly yet surely shown along the way too. Especially when it came to their battles with their individual hidden pasts, which Daisy and Dalton were able to help each other to overcome and heal together. Bringing forth further depth to the characters, being able to see all the sides that made up who Daisy and Dalton were. In my opinion, it's what made for a very sentimentally moving story, getting you deep in feels with the characters as they evolved. Despite only two books having been released from author Bea Paige’s Princetown Heirs series. It can be said The Rogue And His Flower is my favourite thus far. There was just something about Daisy and Dalton that not only hit deep within, but made it worth the read with this emotional heartfelt, warm and tender story. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |

This Standalone follows the story of Summer Walsh and Kayde Lane, despite only being told solely through Summer’s POV. Although the premise is what caught my eye after reading the blurb, which had me intrigued and very interested. However what was delivered in the end was unexpected to say the least, leaving me with mixed feelings. Seeing the interactions between Summer and Kayde made for moments that were definitely interesting to say the least. Whether that be from seeing and hearing Summer’s turmoil in regards to Kayde and her feelings towards him, which was always made known in her inner monologue. Or seeing Kayde control Summer and convince her to take part in his games. It’s what sometimes made for entertainment somewhat. As well as major Spicy steam, every interaction getting HOTTER and FIERY resulting in fire alarms going off, metaphorically of course. These ended up being the pros that kept me reading until the very end. There was also the surprise twists that author A.J. threw in, which ended up being somewhat unexpected to say the least. Especially with how it came about. And can't forget there was also the secondary characters in the form of Melody and Gray, who not only added to the enjoyment factor. But had me hoping they get their own books, since they intrigued me with wanting to know their individual stories and where it will take them. However despite the pros, unfortunately there were a few too many cons that caused me to struggle with the story to the point of even being close to making it my first DNF book. One of my biggest issues came from the length of the book, in all honesty it did not have to be as long as it was. Had it been cut down, the story still would’ve read the same IMO. And that’s mostly because of all the repetition, for a good 60% it just seemed to be the same thing over and over again. Not only seeing the same thing occur between Summer and Kayde with their interaction, but hearing the same thoughts over again. The repetitiveness caused my attention wane a lot, especially with feeling like the story was going around in circles as opposed to showing any progress in moving forward. Another issue came from the confusion behind the narrative. Had it not been Summer and Kayde being the connection to link the two plots together, it would’ve felt like you were reading two different stories because that’s how it came across for me. This caused me to feel a little given the broken, disjointed-ness, but also the lacking of an even flow IMO. The other big issue came from this book not feeling like a horror/dark story. Especially when you compare it to some of the other books of similar tropes author A.J. has written. The blurb may indicated it as so, but what was delivered didn’t match it IMO leaving me disappointed having expected so much more and darker in terms of the horror and darkness. Dead of Summer by A.J. Merlin ended up being a decent read. Considering it did have me liking some parts to it, pushing me to read all the way through. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |

Wicked Scandal
the second interconnected Standalone in author Rachel Leigh’s
Misfits
series ended up being an unexpected story to me. When it com Wicked Scandal the second interconnected Standalone in author Rachel Leigh’s Misfits series ended up being an unexpected story to me. When it comes to Reverse Age-Gap, it's usually a trope that has me steering clear of it with not being the biggest fan. But in Wilder and Catherine’s case, the story ended up being worth the read IMO. With the narrative's development keeping an ongoing flow, it not only kept the story moving forward in a prompt and timed manner. But also progressing onwards steadily, paving the way for every page turn to be continuous, whilst falling further into the unfolding of Wilder and Catherine's story. It's ultimately what kept you reading on with each page flip. As for the character development, there was much to learn and take in when it came to Wilder and Catherine as individuals. More so within their POV chapters that pulled back their layers, allowing for you to get a real feel for them and their personality. Particularly from their inner monologue that opened them up even further. As well as within the development of their relationship taking them from Student/Teacher to lovers, paving way for some Fiery Spice within the passionate, yet naughty moments Wilder and Catherine shared together. My main problem was there did not seem to be enough detail presented within the exploration of Wilder and Catherine’s relationship. And what didn't help was what was shown felt a little too rushed through for my liking, taking away from playing out their journey a little more thoroughly. In my opinion, it would’ve been nice to see it being explored and further developed with a deeper in-depth look. Especially given Catherine's current predicament with being married, so the Taboo and Reverse Age-Gap element would've had you expecting more exploration. In the end, Wicked Scandal still ended up being a pleasantly enjoyable read when it came to following the emotional journey that was Wilder and Catherine's story. A job well done for Rachel Leigh, who has me excited to read more from Misfits series. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |

Book two; The Student had us picking right back up from the cliffhanger, continuing with Anne’s story. Although the story didn’t shine bright like the first book. Nonetheless, it still made for a pleasant read with certain bits, pieces and moments keeping you reading through. From the presence of the secret society holding strong, the mystery surrounding it continued to build up the ever growing suspenseful build around it, keeping you holding on to see where it would lead and the anticipation of the answers to be divulged. There was also the moments Anne’s shared with her friends Daisy and Carlisle. Whilst there were times of tension within, due to the circumstances surrounding the particular scenes including either of the two. It was still nice to see the friendship they shared and that Anne had people on her side who she could go to. Adding to the enjoyable moments to be had in this story. One thing that was made known was the constant back and forth Anne exhibited with her feelings towards Will and their ever changing relationship. Her constant second guessing and going back on her decisions speaking loud and clear, more so when it came to giving into Will. Even when she knew she shouldn’t be. It was interesting to see her thought process in regards to it, all made known through her POV inner monologue And although it did make her come across weak IMO, not just from the decision she made, but how she determined said decision within her thought process that brought her to the answer. She still managed to have some moments of attempting to stand up and be strong for herself. Even when she was knocked down. Unfortunately for some reason the book took me a long while to actually get into it, since my attention seemed to wane in and out every few chapters. The story just didn’t seem to capture my attention fully. And maybe it was just me, but it didn’t help that the narrative seemed to be a little all over the place. The lack of some inconsistencies alongside the lack of flow due to the disjointed choppiness, made the storyline not always flow as well together like it had in the first book The Professor IMO. But with that said, the last 35% roughly, author Skye managed to reel me right back in again. The Student ended up having me locked on with a firm grip in the anticipation of seeing how it would all play out for Anne and Will. Mainly since for some reason this book had me thinking it was the finale. Did the ending of The Student catch me off guard? Heck yeah it did! Having expected this to be a duet for some reason, author Skye Warren had me shouting out in frustration from the cliffhanger she left us hanging on. The finale in Tanglewood University trilogy series The Final Exam could not come fast enough with wanting to know how it will all end for Anne and Will. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |

The Wallflower
and Elyse ‘Ely’ Silver through their dual POV in an Enemies to Lovers, Dark Bully Romance. Sebastian definitely gave his best friend Drew a run for his money with his crazy, dark, unhinged, bullying self. It made the hatred for him was very much real as you read the book, given his domineering, arrogant, depraved behaviour towards nearly everyone in his life. But mainly Elyse, who always seemed to be on the receiving end of it with the way Sebastian attacked her through his words and sometimes action. At the same time, author J.L. Beck did have you feeling sorry for Sebastian as the story further progressed from what unfolded and showcased to us in his character development, allowing you to see there was more to him than meets the eye. As for Elyse she may have always come across as shy, timid girl, given her loner personality and being a quiet mouse, always keeping to herself. However when the moment called for it she would grow into her own, knowing how to stand her ground against Sebastian in giving it back to him. For which she deserved major props, since it didn't always come easy to her which she made known from her inner monologue within her POV chapters. The narrative to The Prey took you on quite the intense, thrilling rollercoaster ride. But that was to be expected due to all the ups, downs, highs and lows and the twists and turns that came about, bringing major tension at times considering all the drama, mystery, secrets, lies and deceit from the many situations and events faced and endured by bothSebastian and Elyse throughout. Only to ultimately lead you down the rabbit hole of the deep, dark and twisted storylines with crazy, unhinged characters to accompany this book The Prey. Making it no wonder the story kept you holding on tight, turning each and every page. Despite expecting that cliffhanger, the ending to The Prey most definitely did not stop me from yelling out in frustration with wanting more from the way we were left hanging. Safe to say, the next book in author J.L. Beck Oakmount Elite series The Predator could not come fast enough. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |

4/4.5 ⭐️ Author Callie Hart is back with a new release, only this time it is an Enemies to Lovers, Fated Mates, Fantasy, Dark Romance. Quicksilver 4/4.5 ⭐️ Author Callie Hart is back with a new release, only this time it is an Enemies to Lovers, Fated Mates, Fantasy, Dark Romance. Quicksilver book one in the Fae & Alchemy series follows the story of Saeris Fane and Kingfisher through their dual perspectives. Quicksilver comprised of making up an extensively in-depth detailed story building that not only gave us the lay of the land. But also the main narrative that revolved around the FMC Saeris and MMC Kingfisher, painting quite the picture with each page turn as the story progressed. Resulting in a rich and fulfilling storyline for book one alone. There was much to take in and explore, from learning about Saeris and Kingfisher individually within their POV chapters that opened them up to us, learning about who they were and what made them tick. To seeing their lives within the worlds they lived in, alongside friends and family. And the positions they found themselves in once they met each other. Paving the way for the mystery to begin, from the secrets kept that were alluded to given the many questions it raised with no answers to be found straight away. Simultaneously you had the subplots that involved secondary characters that added to the overall storyline, showcasing their importance considering the connections that connected them to Saeris and Kingfisher. It is ultimately what led to me being intrigued and engrossed within a narrative that just kept on giving in each page flip. The heart and soul author Callie poured into the storytelling of Saeris and Kingfisher and the world building around them seriously made it feel like you could imagine watching it play out like a movie in your head. Or see everything unfold before your very eyes with every page turn, given the very vivid images painted had you feeling like you were there right next to Saeris and Kingfisher at times too. The emotions that the narrative evoked from within was a ride of its own. From the pain and anguish to the nervousness having you on edge due to the suspense building, alongside the secrets, lies and deceit in not knowing what’s to come. To scenes with having you LOL’ing considering the hilarious moments between Saeris and Kingfisher due to their entertaining relationship which bought about witty banter. As well as constant back and forth, pushing and pulling with their metaphorical jabs at one another other. Particular from Kingfisher’s part. All the whilst their underlying chemistry seemed to be setting off sparks from the connection they shared. With every feeling and emotion expressed in this emotionally charged rollercoaster ride, Callie Hart ensured the story had you feeling it too alongside Saeris and Kingfisher. Although it did take a little time for me to connect with the story, in the beginning at least. It didn’t stay that way for long, since in true Callie style, she was able to get me hook, line and sinker, devouring the rest of the pages. The cliffhanger had me wanting so much more, which makes it safe to say Quicksilver by Callie Hart ended up being an incredible read. Especially given the intricately detailed world she managed to build alongside the plot explored for just book one alone. Book two from the Fae & Alchemy series could not come fast enough with having me wanting more from Saeris and Kingfisher and the continuation of their story. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |

Although it is a Standalone, seeing as it interconnects with Gorgeous Monster and Gorgeous Prince, it would be best enjoyed in order of series. Following Giana ‘Gigi’ Marchetti and Antonio Lombardi’s journey had author Charity leading you on quite the adventurous whirlwind rollercoaster ride. From page one right until the very last the story brought an array of elements including action-packed entertainment, drama, mystery, suspense from all the secrets, lies and deceit. All the whilst riding the strong waves of angsty-ness given the emotional charged moments that led to an outpour of emotions and feelings shown throughout in what ultimately turned out to be quite a fast paced narrative. Then again with the inclusion of time jumps varying from weeks to months, it was to be expected. Honestly with all that was going on, author Charity ensured there was never a lull, keeping you moving forward in this real page turner. Whether it be following Gigi and Antonio in their crazy, lustful yet somewhat toxic relationship. These two really knew how to put on a show from the constant back and forth, pushing and pulling, whilst going through many ups and downs. Only to result in some wide-eyed, eyebrows raised, jaw dropping, hair pulling (from frustration) moments at times. Especially with the constant butting of heads, seeing as Gigi and Antonio were two headstrong characters. Yet despite all that you still couldn’t help but root for them, even when their family members were not, given the Romeo and Juliet vibes from the feuding it brought forth. Add to that their electrifying chemistry on top of their physical connection courtesy of the steamy moments they shared, was it any surprise they had the fires aflame. As for the character development, Charity came through not only opening Gigi and Antonio up to us. But also delving deep with the exploration showcased through the peeling back of layers. With their individual POV chapters, it allowed their inner monologue to shine bright, loud and clear, allowing us the readers to get an understanding of not only who they were. As well as exploring their personal lives within a somewhat day to day basis, including seeing what made them tick and their interactions with others that came in the form of secondary characters including Gigi’s family members Cristian and Natalia and Benny and Neomi. Whilst the story did feel a little long a couple of times throughout, considering the length of the story being played out for. It couldn't be faulted since it was understandably so, seeing as Gigi and Antonio’s story began long before Cristian and Natalia and Benny and Neomi’s. It meant going right the way back to the beginning of the series, as there were peeks of the other Marchetti family members story along the way. But this time showcased from Gigi and Antonio’s POVs. Just like with Gorgeous Monster and Gorgeous Prince, author Charity Ferrell came through with yet again great read from Marchetti Mafia series that was Gigi and Antonio’s story Gorgeous Villain. What’s even more great is knowing there will be another book that is Pippa and Damien’s story, Sinful Sacrifice, for which she has me excited for. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. In this MMF, Hockey Romance we follow the story of Willa Cole younger sister of Isla Cole from Rainfall as well as Alexander ’Zander’ Fane who is best friends with Isla, both of who were first introduced in Rainfall book one from the series. And Damian March through the telling of multiple POVs. When it came to the narrative, there was a lot to tell and explore, especially considering there were three different characters consisting of Willa, Zander and Damian who had not only their own stories to tell. But also the development within their relationship together to navigate through. Author Alison did a good job IMO with showcasing the dynamics shared within the throuple that was Willa, Zander and Damian. Not only did they share great chemistry together, which shined through in the blossoming of their relations. But even in the time of them as duos you could see how it differentiated for them, considering with Zander and Damian we learnt there was past history there having known each other longer, in comparison to Willa and Zander as well as Willa with Damian. Something Alison presented with making it clear throughout the development as their relationship flourished from early stages of friendship to lovers. At least in the case of Willa with Zander and Damian. One aspect that shined through within the MMF element was the time and effort author Alison put into the storytelling of it. The depth is what allowed you to get a real feel and understanding of Willa with Zander and Damian's relationship, whilst learning the ins and outs for each of them, since it was new territory for all three of them. Yet within the navigation you got to see their emotional connection and bond, slowly yet surely come alive, paving way for some steamy moments filled with lots of feelings. Whilst it was a good read, unfortunately there was some shortcomings that led to the book missing marks at certain times and moments. One of my critique came from there not being enough of a spotlight on Zander and Damien in their MM relationship. Despite the mention of them sharing a connection beforehand, it would’ve been nice to see more exploration with delving further into it since there wasn’t as much as the story had me expecting. There was a shortcoming that came from the lack of excitement, considering there was hardly any angst or drama. In all honesty it would’ve been nice to have some more just to bring some oomph into the story, seeing as the storyline treaded mostly a consistent flow with very little rough waves. My other criticism came from the ending, the way it just cut off was too abrupt for my liking. Mostly because it felt there was that could’ve been said and done. And also because it didn’t feel like the end IMO. All in all, author Alison Rhymes did a good job with Flurry, considering Willa with Zander and Damian's story still made for a pleasantly good read. Even despite my issues that were stated. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |

3.75 ⭐️ Hide Away With You by Judy Corry is her newest Contemporary Romance Standalone and book one from Kings of Eden Falls series. In this Forbi 3.75 ⭐️ Hide Away With You by Judy Corry is her newest Contemporary Romance Standalone and book one from Kings of Eden Falls series. In this Forbidden, Brother’s Best Friend, Second Chance Romance, we navigate within the story of Addison ‘Addie’ Michaels and Evan Rodgers through the telling of their dual perspective. The synopsis is what caught my eye and had me wanting to read it, especially since it seemed different from what author Judy Corry had me expecting, having read her other work. There were definitely pros and cons when it came to Hide Away With You. In the case of the pros, the delivery of the storyline being full of intrigue and mystery is what had you turning each and every single page in wonder to see just where the story Addie and Evan would lead you. From the ups and downs that came from many secrets being kept and lies being told, given the deceit, which was alluded to at first, you couldn’t help but be suspicious and curious simultaneously. Whilst waiting in anticipation to see the unfolding of it all. Even more so due to the underlying suspense that continued to build, causing major tension and angsty-ness to rise, resulting in navigating through an emotional whirlwind, particularly in Addie's case considering all that she faced, endured and suffered throughout. But it didn’t end there, with drama developing to then unfold into surprising twists and turns resulting in some shocking revelations that came to light helping to fill in the gaps that came from the questions arising as the story progressed. Making it no wonder when some of it caught me off guard, having not expected at all. Which is why to say Addie and Evan’s story was definitely a whirlwind adventurous rollercoaster ride is an understatement, especially given the highs and lows from the rocky terrain they encountered. With that said, unfortunately there were some shortcomings to be had IMO where the story just fell apart for me. Maybe this was just me but sometimes Addie and Evan had me forgetting they were young adults with being in their early to mid 20s. And with the clean romance, it made it feel even more like they were teenagers. Which brings me to thinking author Judy could’ve pushed the envelope a little more with the romance spice level. Given how much she had already done so in what was showcased between Addie and Evan, she could’ve added more as it would’ve suited their age more better. Had they been younger then it would’ve better suited their characters IMO. But since they were adults it didn’t work well or suit them IMO, especially seeing as she would abruptly cut it off between them. When it came closer towards the end, you couldn't help but feel that it was completely rushed with how quickly author Judy made the end come together for Addie and Evan. All the time spent on setting up the storyline, which had tendencies of being too wordy and long from all the description and explaining, some of which was reiterated a few too many times IMO could’ve been shorten to pave way for the last third of the narrative to play out in more depth resulting in a fulfilling well developed ending IMO. The end that was delivered for Addie and Evan’s end was just too fast and unbelievable, particularly in a certain part that came from Evan's side of things. In the end, despite my issues, Hide Away With You was most definitely still a good read. Given the very intriguing storyline that Judy Corry delivered with Addie and Evan’s story, she had me enjoying it overall. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |

3.75 ⭐️ The Thug and His Doll by Bea Paige is the newest release from her brand new series Princetown Heirs. A Standalone that follows Hendrix ‘D 3.75 ⭐️ The Thug and His Doll by Bea Paige is the newest release from her brand new series Princetown Heirs. A Standalone that follows Hendrix ‘Drix’ Hammer and Amelia ‘Lia’ Pearson in a Single Mom, Contemporary Romance, has the story told through the navigation of dual POVs. A Slow Burn, Angsty Romance that paved the way for quite an emotional journey to say the least. Although they started off as strangers, the blossoming friendship that began to bloom, was it any wonder feelings eventually played a part in Drix and Lia’s relationship the more they progressed forward together. The exploration of different emotions faced by the two helped play into their story even more. Even with some drama that made for some tension filled moments, the path still made for moments of a sweet and deeply heartfelt journey to follow along with at times. At least when it came to the times shared between Drix and Lia, whether it be within their growing friendship or the relation that had them falling for one another. It’s where author Bea ensured depth was presented with adding to the overall narrative. The fact that we were able to see the unravelling of Drix and Lia’s layers, allowed for their characters to be opened up giving more of a detailed character development as time went on. Resulting in connecting with them as characters, since we were able to get a real feel for both of them from all that was divulged along the way. Whilst The Thug and His Doll was a good read having liked it. However there were a few things that couldn't be ignored on my part. For instance the slow pace of the narrative had me wishing that wasn’t the case. Plus with the lack of excitement, it didn't really help, particularly because the pizazz just wasn't there to give it the oomph that would've kept me on my toes. At least not until the conflict came, but unfortunately that didn't occur until much later being closer towards the end. And with the lack of major waves, it made for a somewhat steady flow pace since the bumps that were there were very minimal and not so effective in having you hyped up. At least not for me. There was also the case of the ending being predictable and a little rushed IMO, it just ended up being a let down IMO since it fell short for me. Even more so considering how long it took to even get to that moment in the first place. In the end, Drix and Lia’s story was still a decent read, having me glad to have read it. Especially because of the sneak peeks into the secondary characters, which for me was Daisy and Dalton, whose story author Bea Paige has me excited for. From what we learnt in The Thug and His Doll about them, something tells me their story The Rogue and His Flower, book two in Princetown Heirs series is definitely going to lead to quite an adventurous journey. So expect me to be ready and waiting for its release. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. ...more |
