I think I might give up on this series, I'm really close to finishing it but I just can't do it anymore. I don't like anything about these books. The only reason why I give them 2 stars and not less is because of the occasional funny joke and art but this one managed to be even worse than its proceeders.

All I remember is that the heroine couldn't stop talking about how beautiful and disadvantaged she was every second which was quite bothersome. Half the novel was just long descriptions of the heroines ethereal beauty and her main love interest's also extremely ethereal beauty. It was filled to the brim with cliches and a love triangle (I'm 50% certain there was a love triangle so if there wasn't then I give you permission to scold me) so I don't reccomend reading it.

It was boring, bland, and everything I don't want in a book. The writing style was so amateur it did not read like a published book and the characters were not developed, they were just given names and bodies and the reader is magically supposed to like them even though they are not memorable. The main character ONLY thinks about boys. BOYS BOYS BOYS. That's all that runs through her mind and it was so annoying to read. This book was repetitive and brought nothing new to the table and it wasn't even semi-enjoyable, I hated every moment of it. I DNFed it because I knew that nothing could possible change my opinion of it unless a new writing style is magically adapted and the plot/characters just happens to magically gain more substance.

But even as Ellie embarks on a whirlwind romance, one that takes her on adventures to some of England’s most beautiful places, she still needs to figure out if this is actually the answer to all her problems…and whether the perfect boyfriend is actually the perfect boy for her.

I felt like falling asleep about a million times. There is no suspense nor excitement in this book. It's generic (though it has a unique concept) and the characters are so 1 dimensional it hurts to read about them. I also hate how there's two POVS, WHY CAN'T I EVER FIND A GOOD ROMANCE BOOK WITH ONE POV? Sometimes multiple POVS can be good, but in this case, it's not. It doesn't add anything to the story and the guy's POV was like reading a cliche & corny action novel with an annoying male lead who has issues with his parents (in this case, his uncle).
The romance was just annoying, like the characters, and I found Agnes's reasoning for literally anything quite absurd. She's just the epitome of a Mary Jane, except, with no moral compass (and not even in an interesting way). This a book full of cliches, 1 dimensional characters, and bad romance masquerading as a "unique" novel.
Don't you just hate it when you think you're going to love a book, and then you don't?
I was almost certain that I was going to love The UnhoneymoonersDon't you just hate it when you think you're going to love a book, and then you don't?
I was almost certain that I was going to love The Unhoneymooners when I picked it up from the library, but like most things in life, I was rather disappointed with the outcome.
I feel cheated. When I picked up The Unhoneymooners from the library, I was expecting a contemporary romance novel that adorned one of my favourite tropes, enemies-to-lovers, but what I got was not what I expected.
Though in the beginning I was mildly intrigued (it took me about a page and a half for my interest to wear off, cliches were introduced and my patience began thinning), that soon died down. The characters were as if all of the cliche characters in books were fused into two people, then you would have the two main characters, Ethan and Olive. They were boring, very one dimensional, Mary Sues in disguise, unentertaining, AND THEY WEREN’T EVEN ENEMIES. They had no chemistry (and this is a romance book, LIKE COME ON MORTALS, DO BETTER).
The writing was plain and boring. It wasn’t that terrible, I mean I’ve read much worse and much better, but it was legible. I just personally felt like it wasn’t a unique style. Sometimes I’ll read a quote or a passage and I’ll automatically know who the writer of it is because a lot of authors have their own unique style. This author (or rather, authors) did not make it so the writing stood out. There where also some really strange passages that I think I was supposed to think were “deep,” when in reality, they just came off as strange because we were led to believe that the main character only cared about herself, Ethan, herself, her sister, and did I mention herself?
Now, onto my least favourite part of this book. THE FACT THAT I WAS LIED TO. I was expecting an enemies to lovers romance, and who knows, maybe my hopes were too high after reading To Have and to Hoax by Martha Waters, Beach Read by Emily Henry and You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle, but this is NOT an enemies-to-lovers. It is a whiny-girl-hates-basic-male-and-deems-him-to-be-her-enemy-because-she-is-incapable-of-communicating-with-human-beings-and-actually-using-common-sense.
Don’t even get me started on the romance because I can already feel my gray hair multiplying (no, I am not old, yes, I am stressed).
Also, that little plot “twist,” was simply not my cup of tea. I do not consider myself a sleuth, but COME ON. It was so easy to guess what was going to happen. I literally thought about it 10 pages into the book (or less in all honesty). I just feel as if this book is a cliche, watered down novel that was parading around as a “unique” book with a “unique” plot, when really, I do not remember anything about this book after only a month of reading it, besides the names of the characters, which I remembered because they disappointed me so much.

The Wish List details the life of an anxious and closed off bookworm who has an obsessive tendency with counting. She’s forced to go to therapy by her parents because of her lack of romantic relationships, and there, THE wish list is born. Soon after, she meets what she presumes is the perfect man for her and further journeys on with the concept of love and relationships in general, while still tackling her work life and bridezilla step-sister.
The premise interested me, a wish list and a lonely bookworm who has a strange habit? Sign me up! But the story itself did not deliver. It was very basic and didn’t bring anything new to the table. It just felt like something I’d read a million times before, and it could’ve been done much better. I wish there had been more twists, and that the ones that were included in the story weren’t so expected or easy to guess. By the second chapter, I had already penned what would happen, and it went in the route I though it would.
As I write this review, I have already forgotten the love interest’s name, which is always a bad sign for a romance novel, or any novel in general. The character’s were dull and the “romance” was pushed onto the reader with little to no development. There was nothing that held my attention, nor any character I felt attached to or loved/loathed. We never got to know the character’s intentions and they felt very one dimensional.
I will say that the author’s writing flowed well and she managed to humour me in some parts of this story. I found the concept of her living in England interesting since most novels I’ve read recently have been set in America, it was nice to see a change in atmosphere. Overall though, this just wasn’t my cup of tea.

I really wanted to love this, truly. I think Marissa Meyer is an amazing author and though I have not finished The Lunar Chronicles yet, the first book amazed me. But this one was not it.
Instant Karma is a young adult romance about a girl who's forced to work with her archenemies through the course of one eventful summer, filled with cute sea creatures and the dreaded Quint Erickson.
This story has all the elements to amaze or at least entertain. The author is great judging by her other works, the protagonist is semi-relatable (or at least I thought she would be in the beginning) and it includes enemies-to-lovers, and don't even get me started on this trope because I love it with a passion. Unfortunately though, all of these elements combined resulted in a boring, predictable, chemistry-less (let's pretend that's a word) book that I did not enjoy.
I think my biggest issue with this book is that it’s a romance, but the characters have no chemistry and are just flat. I felt like the main male character was just too perfect, he was given no flaws, and the “flaws” that we were supposed to believe were true were so obviously false (you’ll see what I mean if or when you read the book).
Prudence, don’t even get me started on Prudence. She was this goody two-shoes who always tried to excel in school and I thought I might be able to relate to her, but she came off rather bitter and rude. We do get to see her change a bit throughout the story, and I think the author did a good job at making her transition from pesky brat to palpable human being, but she was still adamant on being selfish and unlikable.
As I mentioned, Quint was just so PERFECT. It was annoying. I've never understood why writing advice always says to give your characters flaws, but now I do. Quint is everything I don't want in a book boyfriend. He is bland, boring and uninteresting. He was too flawless to even be human, and it was annoying how we were reminded of how good he was every five seconds.
The writing style was basic. There were barley any descriptions of the surroundings and at times I found it difficult to imagine where they were. The dialogue was bland and the characters were too. Nothing pulled me in about the writing style, initially I thought I would enjoy it because it's in 1st POV and I enjoy this genre most in 1st POV, but in this case, not even the POV could make it better.
I'm really disappointed that I didn't enjoy this book but I guess that's life. I definitely reccomend checking out some the author's other books though!

It was too focused on the romance factor of the story, which isn't such a huge problem in other books, but the plot was wonky and some of the storyline didn't add up. The beginning was relatively engaging, but for me it fell apart as the story progressed. The ending I feel was a little rushed, but of course, the books in this series aren't long so it must be difficult to fit all you want in the novel. There were still some positive aspects in the story, and I reccomend reading it if you just want to pass the time in an interesting world. I love how the series has little Easter eggs and such throughout each novel, and the writing in general is simple and easy to read.

The plot twist was very foreseeable which kind of sucked since the last book had a better one. The romance completely ruined the plot line in my eyes, and the sudden change in character personalities in both Rashel and Quinn was just weird and much too rushed. I enjoyed this more than the last, and would've given a solid three star rating or more if not for all the "changes" that were sort of thrust into the book with no explanation.
I was so excited to read this, but it turned out to be a huge let-down. All of the characters 1.5 stars
Yet again, I find myself in the minority.
I was so excited to read this, but it turned out to be a huge let-down. All of the characters were super flat, if the mc was to be murdered at any moment, I would not feel a thing. The main character was a complete Mary Sue, and honestly, so was everyone else. All of the “plot twists” I saw a mile away, and nothing really surprised or intrigued me in this story.
The romance was just not done right. I don’t want to include any spoilers, but the supposed love interest caused a great deal of pain to the mc. And all she could say was “I CAN’T SEE YOU TODAY.” LIKE WHAT EVEN, if something like that happened to me I would’ve been furious and not want to see the person for an ETERNITY. I know that the mc was in a unique situation, but it still didn’t make it right, and she was so easy to forgive. And even more than that, all she could say about anyone in the novel is “OH HE’S SO HOT BUT TERRIBLE.” LIKE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS GIRL. The main love interest (I honestly have no clue if this was a love triangle or not, this book was that confusing and a bunch of love interests were introduced last minute) constantly kissed the mc with no regard for her comfort and she just went along with it even though she “hates” him. I wouldn’t call this novel a romance, even though it did try and focus on the aspect a lot, because it was really just a haphazard attempt at inserting a bunch of kissing and memories of “love.”
I wish I could say that I liked or disliked a character, but I was so unattached to this book that I just did not care about anyone. This novel really did feel like I was reading about characters who had no emotions, robots at that, and I did not like it whatsoever. I was told that the mc was angry, I was not shown her frustration with the world itself. This story is in first person but I felt very detached to the main character and everyone else. Also, this was one of those novels where the bad guys were solely “bad” for the sake of being villains. They cackled and had dark backstories and were evil with no actual motive. I really don’t like it when characters are this bland and nothing was really memorable about this book. The main character acted very immature, and the whole “chosen one” trope has been done a MILLION TIMES. I’m sick of seeing it in novels, a simple Mary Sue becomes almighty in a matter of seconds and then says “OH, I ALWAYS KNEW I WAS SPECIAL, DEEP DOWN INSIDE.” I just can’t. Tropes can be done right, but this one was not.
The writing was not my cup of tea, and I found myself losing focus as I tried to read this novel. I started in the morning yesterday, and took hour-long breaks because I couldn’t continue. In the end, I forced myself to read through and was disappointed but not surprised. This is a solid 1.5 stars, and originally I rated it as a 2 stars, but as time passed, I realized that this novel was more of a 1 star. It was problematic in certain areas and honestly the only thing I liked about it is the lack of grammatical errors. There was also a cliffhanger at the end that captured my attention, which is good, but doesn’t make up for the entirety of the novel which was bland, boring, and poorly written.

I really didn’t like the writing. It was just very bland and mediocre. The writing style was kind of like “I walked to the fridge. I grabbed a cookie. I ate the cookie. A crumb fell. What a shame.” It was just very boring and not engaging whatsoever.
I didn’t like the protagonist. All she talked about was how her baking skills were amazing and how gorgeous she was and how everybody loved her. It was annoying. I felt like the author tried to make her “humble” when she wrote the character but it definitely did not seem that way. The MC and other characters in the story were just very snarky and one-dimensional. Literally nobody had any physical or emotional flaws in this book. FLAWS ARE WHAT MAKE CHARACTERS UNIQUE. FLAWS ARE GOOD. INCLUDE FLAWS.
The “plot twist” was way too obvious. Mystery books should be mysterious, but this was just predictable. Some parts of this book were just very cringy and cliche. I literally skipped the dance scene part, descriptions of some characters (*cough* Hudson *cough*) which were along the lines of “OH MY GOSH HE’S SO HOT”, and some scenes towards the end which were just weird and unesscary. It was too much to bare.
The story wasn’t that bad, but at the same time, I didn’t like how it started or how everything played out. I think the author should have focused on world building and said the word “vampire” and “werewolf” about 100 times less. It wasn’t awful, but it also wasn’t memorable and it felt very rushed and incomplete if that makes sense. It got better towards the end, but it wasn't good enough for me to forget the rocky beginning and overall weird and clunky writing.

I tried to read this, I truly did, but I couldn't get myself through this. It's as if someone looked at all the tropes I disliked and put them into one book. I'm honestly sad because I was almost certain I would love this, but by the first page I already knew that was not the case. The writing wasn't atrocious, it was fairly basic and didn't capture my attention. The characters, oh the characters, were not my cup of tea whatsoever and felt like a mix of basic stereotypes thrown into one. I did not feel connected to the characters and I honestly can't even remember at what page I dnf'ed this on (I also can't even remember what the names of the characters were since I dnf'ed it months ago and am only now writing a review, yes I know, I'm quite intelligent).

The start of this book was promising, it was good and light. But all good things come to an end, and this was the case for both my attention span and overall interest in this novel. I started slowly losing interest in the characters and the world itself, but I still had hope.
❝ Maybe I am the monster. After all, I come out to play at night. But so do you, little one. ❞
And then came Wolfe. I had so many issues with this character. It’d take me days to write down all the things I was peeved by but I’m not going to do that because I don’t want to spoil anything or waste my time. All I can say is I am utterly astonished by how deep my hatred for this character goes. It is deeper than the Mediterranean sea, and sparks a fiery rage throughout me when I hear his name. I just couldn't stand him or his personality. I also hated how he was forgiven so quickly for his actions, which were quite cruel in my opinion.
❝ As a gentleman, you have failed me. As a con, however, I give you an A plus. Highly impressive. ❞
The only character I liked was Ms. Sterling. Francesca wasn’t all that bad, but she fell flat for me. In the beginning she came off as fierce and would always speak her mind, but as the story progressed, she became even more dependent on other people for protection and everything else.
❝ The world is an unfair place. It does not reward you for being good, or decent, or moral. But for being talented, driven, and cunning. ❞
I couldn’t focus on the story and was getting bored while reading. The plot revolved around pushing the two people together. The "conflict" throughout the story was just a barrier that'd be so easy to break down with conversation. The only big thing to happen literally came out of nowhere and I think I've read about 50 novels where the same thing has occurred, just to stir up the plot a bit, not to actually develop characters or anything of the sort. If there had been more going on and plausible conflict I could see myself enjoying this much more than I did.
❝ We were entwined and entangled, connected with invisible strings, each of us trying to pull away, only to create more knots that made us closer. ❞
I honestly can see why so many people loved it. I absolutely adored the author’s writing style and have so many quotes stored in my notes from the book, but everything else just did not do it for me.
❝ No love is fully requited. No love is equal. No love is fair. There is always one side that loves more. And you better not be that side—because it suffers. ❞
The ending didn’t make sense, and I felt that the character development was too rushed and unbelievable. The HEA came out of nowhere. The big "conflict" between the love interests was solved with, you guessed it, CONVERSATION. It practically took a paragraph to forget the problems that were so "important" throughout the novel, and for everything to be solved. The ending did not feel complete whatsoever.
❝ A Story of a Nemesis and a Villain with no chance at a happy ending. Where the prince doesn't save the princess. He tortures her. And the beauty doesn't sleep. She's stuck. In a nightmare. ❞
I would definitely reccomend at least checking this author out though because their writing style is really good, and the dialogue was SO GODAMN QUOTE WORTHY. This is just not the book for me, but i’d be open to reading her other books because I was truly enamoured with the writing style.
