Abajo se oye un leve ruido; debe de ser Olaf, cuyo cerebro se está reiniciando después de casi desnucarlo.
—Se lo he dicho a él y te lo digo a ti: ¡necesitamos la muerte! ¡No debemos vivir eternamente! ¡No nos hicieron así! Somos demasiado necios para ser eternos. Demasiado egoístas. Demasiado engreídos. No estamos preparados para vivir para siempre. Necesitamos la muerte, Jacob. No sabemos vivir sin ella.
Me gustaría pensar que soy una herramienta en las manos de madera, las manos del que entiende: la humanidad se ha perdido. Necesitamos que alguien nos despierte, que nos baje los humos, que nos recuerde quiénes somos y de dónde venimos.
