The Unplanned Wedding

Rate this book
I’m in love with my tall, dark and grumpy boss
Only he’s engaged to another...

Knox Davenport. Six feet three inches of glower, and with a presence that fills any room he walks into, is strictly out of bounds.
Too bad I’m secretly in love with him.
He’s a former Marine and the new CEO of the Davenport Group
I’m a struggling singer.
He doesn’t even know my name.
After all I’m only his assistant, AND his housekeeper AND his girl Friday.
I need this job so I can pay my bills
..while auditioning for my big break
..and putting my siblings through college.
Besides where’s my self-respect?

The man’s obnoxious, and disagreeable and has an ego I want to take down several notches.
So why can’t I get over this unreasonable attraction?
I resolve to do my job and keep things professional between us.
Until he announces he’s betrothed.
And asks me to plan his wedding.

How long can I watch from afar as the happy couple seem to be falling love, while my heart breaks apart?
Then his fiancée breaks off the engagement.
And Knox turns to me for help.
He asks me to marry him... Only so he can get his inheritance.
I turn him down.
I have my pride after all.
And when I leave the job, I’m sure he’ll forget about me.

Only a few weeks later the doorbell rings and he’s there.
He has a new proposal... with conditions...

This is Knox & June’s story. A billionaire, forced proximity, one-bed, boss-employee, fake relationship, romance with a strong-willed FMC who’s proud of her curves and won’t settle for anything less than love. It is a complete standalone with a HEA.

THIS IS NOT A ROMANCE!!! WHAT DID I JUST READ???? The book synopsis is COMPLETELY MISLEADING! HOW DOES THIS HAVE GOOD REVIEWS???

There are constant elements of BDSM- specifically degradation/humiliation both in their sex scenes and outside of them. So basically, he treats her like SHIT the entire book. He CONSTANTLY degrades her looks, rejects her, and she's like "I need to earn his attention, his approval, I'll do anything he wants, I was put on this earth to please him."

MEANWHILE he ONLY puts her down, makes her feel like shit, degrades her in sexual scenes AND outside of them, only for the FMC to say "thank you". I understand that's some people's thing, but BDSM without respect between the two partners makes me sick and is so unauthentic. He literally makes her LICK HIS FOOT and doesn't even treat her with basic respect, let alone act like he likes her.

And there is no warning, no mention of this whatsoever in the book synopsis or anywhere. I am heartbroken for June that she is giving her time and attention to someone who won't remember her first name.

I mean what is the point of this???? I am SO SICK of books like this being labeled romantic. This is just smut, just label it smut!!!! There's NO LOVE HERE!!!!

This was a vile read with misogynistic undertones. Really painful, just wanted the FMC to leave his rude ass behind and find a partner who would help her explore her kinkier side with some more fucking basic respect. It's so disappointing other females are writing this as "romance". It's so depressing.

Seriously horrible. Not sorry for being mean, the 5 star reviews seem fake as hell.

3.5/5⭐️

An easy read - does along the tropes of workplace romance, fake marriage, dominant and submissive, the naive heroine and the worldly experienced grump hero. This was a lot of push and pull - the whole “I want you but J don’t want to want you”. Love the drama, sometimes it gets repetitive. Lots of spice. This book is another in the Davenport series which sees Knox find his match in his new assistant June. Knox was a marine and is still struggling with past trauma, he is closed off, serious and blunt. June is trying to stay afloat, financially supporting the adoptive family she owes so much to while trying to figure out more about who she is. Determined to not quit her new job, June decides to go head to head with Knox instead of being run off like numerous others. Tensions and attractions grow. But then the curve ball gets thrown in by grandpa Davenport when he gives the ultimatum that Knox needs to get married or lose his position as CEO. Dun dun dunnnn, drama ensues.

First of all - I've read a lot of smutty books, dark romance, and books with a variety of kinks explored. I have to say, this is the first one where I've seen a FMC get off on the MMC's BIG TOE! Excuse me, WTAF? The details in that part are so cringey because she notices his trimmed toe nail after she takes his shoe and socks off, leaving I'm sure a somewhat sweaty toe! Then she proceeds to f*ck herself with his toe. I had to put the book down and process that for a minute.

Secondly - the blurb of the story is not really what the story is about. I don't recall anything about June wanting to be a singer waiting for her big break. Knox's fiancé doesn't break up the engagement, he does. Also, what happy couple "falling in love" - we barely have a few parts with Knox and his fiancé before he dumps her and moves on with June.

I get the "dark" vibes, the BDSM, the dom/sub relationship, but it was hard to swallow Knox's coldness towards June. He's like a giant man child who can't deal with his emotions so his solution is to treat her like crap, then announce an engagement to push her further away. Even after they get married, he almost uses her as a sex toy, and not in a good way. He keeps emotionally throwing her for a loop with is hot and cold. And I get the submissive part of June's personality, but girl where's your self respect when he's being an asshole?

I will say, once Knox finally accepts his feelings he does improve but not by much.

First of all, I helped edit this book, but I don’t think my review is biased. Truthfully, this isn’t exactly my favorite genre to read, so there are certain aspects of the book that bothered me, especially as a feminist (and the author knows). However, I do like Steele’s writing. A lot. She’s able to artfully tap into emotions, leading us from hating the alpha male to loving him. I really didn’t want to like Knox, and to be honest, I still wouldn’t want to be in a relationship with him, but I changed my mind about him as a person by the end. Likewise, I didn’t connect with June overall because she seemed so different from me, but her story made sense. And there were some very emotional scenes where I definitely connected with her because feelings of loss are universal.

The other thing that Steele is good at is pulling you into the MCs minds and helping you to understand how they tick. You may not like it, but you’ll gain insight. I found that I understood more about the struggles of Knox and June and empathized with both of them. And who’s to say I wouldn’t feel the same way were I put into the same circumstances? For example, I still don’t understand the dichotomy of being a strong, independent woman while also being a submissive. But Steele, at least, helped me to see why it’s possible, and also drove home the extremes of the facades that people can show the public when their private lives are vastly different. It’s not just the alpha males who present a facade, pretending to be cold and indifferent while cloaking their soft, caring hearts.

In this book, we are privy to the often-contradictory, internal struggles of Knox, a man who wants to love a woman but fears losing control and becoming vulnerable. He does some incredibly stupid things to “protect” June from himself. And when he hurts June—because, of course, he does—we can feel her pain as she questions her own worth and wonders if there’s something wrong with her. What if she causes people to abandon her?

More of this book is spent building tension between June and Knox before they actually “consummate” their relationship, and I liked that. It doesn’t matter that we know they’ll eventually end up together. Most of the angst happens on the front end, so when they do get together, it’s even more rewarding. Finally, there are only some minor glitches until they have their HEA.

I guess the big takeaway for me is that the book made me think. It made me reconsider some notions I have about people, in general. It’s all too easy to judge others for their choices, but it’s also important to remember the choices they didn’t have. We each cope with our lives in the ways that make sense to us, and they don’t have to make sense to everyone else. Remember that the next time you want to make yourself feel superior to someone. I hope I will. ;)

Oh where to start….

The plot had promise, however, I feel like the description here isn’t very accurate to the book. I noticed that there were some missing elements, like June is not an aspiring singer. I don’t mind BDSM or dark tones in my books but this story fell flat for me. The writing style was hard to keep up with.

1. It can be repetitive as the H kept saying: “he didn’t want to sully her”, “she doesn’t know what I’m capable of”, “she’ll hate me, i’ll sully her, dirty her, take away every last shred of innocence”. Bruhhhh it’s kinky sex. Calm down. A lot of people are into very kinky sex and BDSM 🙄. It’s not that serious lol.

2. This book had a lot of a push and pull which gave me whiplash. The H is pretty dumb and juvenile for a billionaire marine war vet. The h is TSTL and a huge doormat that it’s just maddening.

3. The book can also be waaaaaay too descriptive and the details seem to be dragging on. In one of the earlier chapters, it took the author three pages to describe the h’s outfit for the party. THREE PAGES.

4. Then the cringey edging scene 🤦🏻‍♀️ “Then he raises his foot just enough that his big toe, with its trimmed nail, rubs up between my pussy lips again. Goosebumps pop on my skin. Liquid heat shoots out from the point of contact and zips through my veins.” Some details should be left out. Nuff said. That’s like describing a guy going down on you and licks your 🍑, your freshly wiped 🍑… 😂… I also don’t think this scene is sexy at all. It’s quite unsanitary and unhygienic. Sweaty foot rubbing on your vag. Can someone say UTI 😅

5. No spice 🤬. I’m at 59% and still no sex scene other than a spanking and the cringey edging scene.

I wanted to give up at 25% and DNF but I kept reading on. It’s been a really painful and torturous read. I don’t know why I put myself through this. Sigh. The writing style is just not the best and I started skimming. I’m not sure how this book has such high reviews. Probably bought reviews lol. DNF at 60%.

I am loving these Davenport men they are insanely possessive and full-on grumpy alphas. This book was a hot one. Knox is the grumpy alpha boss that has his assistance running on day one and sometimes not lasting an hour. June is the sweet, caring woman who is trying to everything she can to take care of her adoptive family. When she starts working for Knox, she is instantly taken by him and the attraction is like a live wire. The push and pull and banter were perfect. I love the way L. Steele writes her characters because you fully get insight into what they are feeling and why. The inner monologues are fantastic. You can feel the internal struggles they have which makes the characters more relatable. Knox feels he is too much for any woman especially his sweet "July". June wants to submit and give him everything. I loved the vulnerability they each showed as their love grew it had your heart melting for them. Another fantastic book. I as given this book as an ARC for my honest review.

These Davenport men are just true alphas! I love this series! This story is about Knox, interim CEO to the Davenport Group’s media division, and June, his assistant. Knox has such a bad attitude, and before June, has gone through so many assistants. He’s mean, cold, ruthless and they call him “The Beast.” June really needs this job in order to care for her family and goes toe to toe with him. I think he’s met his match. But he is so cruel to her and I felt so bad for her. Most would have just quit, or at the very least, kept a distance at all times. However, these two have some serious chemistry. They have both been through some trauma and hard times.

I always enjoy this authors writing and her alpha, dominating male characters. This was a good story and I enjoyed it.

The Unplanned Wedding, Knox and June’s story brings an entertaining office romance. L. Steele created a compelling highly exquisite narrative. Her writing style is addictive and her characters become more than just a read. From page one until the very last page I was wrapped up in the story. Heart wrenching times, spicy scenes and witty moments were just some of the things I loved reading about. I absolutely adored June. Her character was so sweet. Knox played a cool demeanour self-sabotaging, but he also has a kind heart. I love the supporting characters too, Connor Davenport and Butler Jeeves were my favourite in this one. I highly recommend reading this contemporary romance.
I’m over the moon with excitement anticipating the next novel in this series which is Ryot’s story.

Knox Davenport has seemed like the most out-of-control a-hole. Through most of Q’s book. And well, even this book. Through Q’s book, he drank all the time to numb his feelings and deal with PTSD. In this book, you come to realize his infatuation with June, and yes, her name is indeed June. He wants to get her goat so badly that he calls her every name but her given name. At first, it was a show of anger. No one had bothered to tell him that they had hired her when he barked out orders, and she managed the first task of seeing him.

He couldn't scare her off with his battle wound. However, she didn't shy away either. She heard his pain. As if she didn't see his scar.
Oh, but she did. And to her, they added to his sex appeal. Along with his GQ good looks, and a body of honed battle-ready perfection. He made her tingle from her head to her toes. The agency said not to get attached, not to fall for him, he is too angry and mean. They were paying her well enough that, she was not going to mess up. She needed to provide for her family too much.

June Donnelly was not scared easily. She was a product of the system, a foster kid until the age of twelve. So Knox had no idea how much BS she could take. She could take it, too. Let’s not forget that all the Davenport men enjoy some form of Kink to one extent or another. And in June, or as Knox most often liked to call her, July, he found someone very similar to himself, seeking someone to control her. She is new to it, but she is skirting the submissive lifestyle, with the lingo to get a rise out of him, and he retreats when she is unsure of herself.

Yet, when they become too close, he tries to put a permanent distance between them. When a sense of want, gets them feeling attached, and wanting to keep their kink play, but he wants to continue without feelings involved. However, the night before when she calls his bluff and decides to abruptly leave, he can't handle it and asks her to stay. He apologizes more than once for hurting her and for various other reasons that night. Nonetheless, the next day, he pulls the rug right out from under her. Then, he compounds it later, asking for her to make a reservation. The straw that broke the camel's back.

However, he feels the effect, when he finds her dancing in the arms of another man. Yet, the one-two punch doesn't come until he arrives early to work. He is awaiting the time when June would make it to work at eight a.m. Only to find out she has resigned.

What an absolutely amazing book. I enjoyed this so much better than Q’s book. To me, that was less story and more bedroom-based, or more worried about it. Highly more graphic with the BDSM part of the relationship than them as a couple. This was about them. Working on them talking to each other and not talking about them working on talking to each other. Love the imperfection of all the men but especially Arthur, and Imelda’s the perfect woman for him.

Knox and June’s story was impossible to put down. The intensity of their attraction, the push-pull nature of their relationship and their chaotic emotions make this book intriguing and compelling. Both have their demons to deal with and reasons to think a relationship between them couldn’t possibly work, no matter how much they desperately want it to do so. The tension between is palpable and captivating. I couldn’t help but want to see how their story develops.

They are both a study in contrasts. June does not cower like his previous assistants did. His scars and demeanor do not repulse her in any way. She stands up for herself, is not afraid to give him her input, and handles his demands with efficiency and aplomb. Yet, she is also the submissive the very dominant Knox desires, wanting and needing his instruction, letting him take the lead in the area of personal pleasure. His advance then retreat, hot then cold treatment is maddening and tantalizing at the same time. She has long believed she is unlovable and undesirable, but Knox makes her feel very differently. June wants nothing more than to show Knox that she can be everything he needs in and out of the office.

At first, Knox lives up to the moniker of Beast. Impossibly rude, abrupt and demanding, he tests June’s work ethic, endurance and capabilities. Her spunk and intelligence surprise and please him, but her curves and submissive qualities, (eyes lowered, standing in silence) spark something deep within him and make his inner beast roar possessively. He is more than happy to tutor June in the ways of a submissive, though he does his best to keep any emotion it stirs under control. Jealousy, possessiveness and protectiveness overtake him at times, breaking through his rigid control. It takes awhile, but eventually there is a glimpse of vulnerability and even tenderness. The Beast has a softer side he keeps extremely well hidden, even from the woman who sparks more than interest within his heart and soul. Let’s just say that the Beauty ensnares her Beast, but only after a few heartrending twists.

Their story is steamy, twisty and deliciously addictive. I will happily recommend this book to those who love their romance very spicy and a tad dark.

Modern telling of Beauty & the Beast with an adult tone, (Some light BDSM themes 🥵😉). Knox was a POW and disfigured while in the Royal Marines, and he is now the temporary CEO of the Davenport Group Media Division. He is referred to as “The Beast” because he is not an easy person to work with. In the six months that he has been CEO, he has had six different assistants, and most quit within the first hour. June is his new se*y librarian-looking assistant, and she surprises everyone when she stands her ground from day one and doesn’t let him run her off. As a woman with a “curvy” body type, she wears clothes that show off her cleavage and other “ass”-ets because she is proud and comfortable with the way she looks. Like his brothers and uncle, Knox is approached by his grandfather and is told that if he wants to be permanent CEO and wants the house in Cumbria that he loves, he has to be married in 30 days, and if he cannot find a wife, he has an arranged marriage in the works that will benefit the Davenport family. He agrees to find a wife. The longer they work together, the more attracted they become to each other. The logical thing is for him to marry June, right? Yeah, No! Knox decides that they are getting too close, and he cannot and will not fall for her. So his answer is to make June absolutely hate him, and by doing so they can go back to just boss and employee, and there will no longer be any hope in her heart or mind that they could have a chance. He sets it all up, and he goes ahead with his plan. Only problem? It backfires severely, and he ends up on his knees. What will Knox need to do to correct his mistake? Can he fix what he broke? Will he have his happily ever after, or will he be left in his big house by his beastly self and eventually watch someone else sweep her off her feet as they treat her like the beauty she deserves to be treated as? These are all answers that are easily answered when you get your copy of this book and curl up on the couch to read it. I promise you will love it. If this is your first L. Steele book I recommend joining the L. Steele FB group. Look for the Bingo card and follow it to read all the books in order.

I recently finished The Unplanned Wedding by L. Steele, and I have to say, it was quite the delightful read! This contemporary romance had me hooked from the start, and I’m excited to share my thoughts.

The characters really stood out to me, especially Knox. I loved how he evolved from someone I initially found unlikable to a charming and relatable protagonist. June was equally engaging; her journey of growth and resilience resonated with me throughout the story. Steele did an excellent job of giving us insight into their inner thoughts, making it easy to connect with their struggles and desires.

The premise of a marriage of convenience is always intriguing, and Steele executed it beautifully here. The chemistry between Knox and June was palpable, filled with tension and humor that kept me turning the pages. I appreciated how the themes of personal growth, love, and the complexities of relationships were woven seamlessly into the narrative.

Steele’s writing style is engaging and accessible. I found her vivid descriptions and relatable dialogue made the story come alive. The inner monologues were particularly well done; they offered a window into the characters' emotions that added depth to the overall experience. It wasn’t just a romance; it felt like an exploration of personal identity and connection.

While there were moments that felt a bit predictable—something I’ve come to expect in romance novels—this didn’t detract from my enjoyment. The pacing was generally good, though I did feel some plot points were rushed at times. Still, Steele crafted a narrative that was both enjoyable and emotionally resonant.

In conclusion, I would give The Unplanned Wedding a solid four stars. It’s a satisfying contemporary love story that balances steamy romance with heartfelt moments. If you’re looking for a captivating read, I highly recommend picking this one up!

If it’s got L. Steele’s name penned, it’s an automatic read. I love the banter between the Beast and KellyAssistant, I’m still smiling. This was a feel-good read and another automatic buy of the physical book to add to my library!

Tropes for this read are:
Workplace romance – Boss/Employee – Marriage of convenience

POV: Duel
World Building: 5/5
Banter: 5/5
Plot: 4/5
Spice: 4/5
Supporting Characters: 5/5

Overall review: 5/5

Zero angst, no ow/om drama. Slow burn, with lots of chemistry.

This is book three in the Davenport series and overall, the storyline between the FMC and MMC is fantastic. This story reminds me a great deal of my relationship with my husband, we were twin flames/soul mates who knew within moments of meeting each other that we were fated to be together.

This couple was adorable, their story sweet. Knox is a blend of beast, dominant, supportive, golden retriever. June is a combination of naïve, sweet, innocent, strong. They each have their own struggles with issues from abandonment to self-worth, from inadequacy to self-doubt. Knox didn’t think it was in his cards to find someone who could love him, his scars and his inner darkness but June is his perfect partner in every way. It was heart-warming to watch their love for one another grow deeper throughout the story.

If you’re new to L. Steele, her books are considered standalone – but you’ll see characters from previous books and to get the absolute best experience you should really read them all if you can…The Big Bad Billionaires, The Sovranos and the Morally Grey Series!

I would 10/10 recommend this read, you won’t be disappointed.

I’ll be patiently waiting for book four of The Davenports, gimmie some Ryot!

Happy reading y’all!

That was the most emotional book in this series so far 😭😭😭 I'm a fast cryer, but this book 😱

Oh, these men...
They see a woman. They want the woman. They take the woman. 🙈 Don't get me wrong, it's not that the women are completely against it. Even though they react like they won't to the men. On the inside they want... Come on, they are always 🔥 as HEII billionaires. Yes, they are alphaholes, but we love alphaholes, don't we? 😉

And that's like Damian and Julia's "meet cute" is. Or rather "meet dominat" 🤣 Yes, sorry, bad pun 😎 Julia is Amelie's best friend (previous book) and just got back from Australia. And she needs a job.
It's very typical for this series that the MMC has a proposal for the FMC. And yes, it's always money. Don't forget, the Seven are the richest men in at least the UK but more like the world. So, the money they offer is never just pennies for the FMCs but for the Seven it is.

Damian always looked too tough. He didn't look like he suffered a lot after the incident. But he isn't as tough as it looked like. And when it comes to his daughter he is the devotest dad ever. He would do everything for his daughter. EVERYTHING!

Oh, the fights between Damian and Arpad, are too good 😎 They have an even stronger connection to each other than to the others.

I didn't expect the book to go this way. The plot twist took me really hard 😱 I can't say more, it would be a big spoiler way too big. But if you have any triggers, please DM me what triggers you have and I can say yes or no.

Btw, this book includes more than one wedding because we get Amelie and Weston's wedding as well 🩷

I have to say, this wasn't my favorite L. Steele book, but it was enjoyable. June is desperate for a job so that she can take care of her adoptive mom and siblings and pay off her debts. So when she gets offered a position as Knox Davenport's assistant, she takes it. The money's good but the boss is a tyrant! June is a naive woman who feels an intense chemistry with Knox and even though he tries to scare her off because he doesn't think she can cope with the depth of his proclivities, it doesn't work. So in the end, Knox decides that he should marry June so that he can claim his inheritance and also make sure that no one else can have June. What he doesn't realize is that she is persistent and won't let him hide from himself anymore.

This was hard to read in some places, because I felt that Knox constantly degraded June, both in the bedroom and out and it felt like he was just a misogynist. I was always under the impression that a Dom would treat his submissive like a queen, but that really didn't come across as happening here. There was way more Dom behavior than was necessary and it would have been nice to have more action outside of the bedroom. It did deal with underlying issues that caused emotional blockages in both June and Knox, but kind of glossed over them in favor of bedroom scenes. I would have liked more tenderness at times from Knox instead of his constant denigration. More story and character driven interactions and less bedroom would have made this so much better.

The heroes in these stories are characterized by being intense and each one has their ‘quirks’ with a lot of their faults and virtues. Knox Davenport carried scars inside and out, which in my opinion were his reminder of what he could not control in his life so in the present possessing and exercising control was vital for him. June had been fortunate for the opportunity she had received in her life when she was most vulnerable and that had made her strong, sure of what she could achieve and determined to go for a better future for her own. It was evident that Knox and June had a powerful chemistry where emotionally they recognized that one was for the other, they challenged each other and were filling their areas of need. Although at times Knox’s behavior irritated me, I recognized his inner anger for those things that seemed to get out of his control. A very complicated character struggling with his emotions in a way that he himself recognized was not the best. On the other hand, it was clear that June was eagerly submitting to power and enjoying the many emotions she was receiving. Something that was dormant in her had awakened. I love how authors capture my attention with internal struggles, the bad decisions and the sometimes-strange situations in which they place the protagonists and that make me open my eyes wide, go back in the reading to get my mind racing and try to imagine what it was like. I really enjoy it when they make me think and consider the alternatives that the protagonists have.

Mary Loves Nuancing Narcissism

Sex Slave June is such a pathetic wet blanket.

The only time he considers her feelings is when he is pretending he is dissociating from grooming someone i experienced.

Cunt.

Toxic groomer.

Imagine being able to emotionally invest in someone who is not emotionally investing in you.

Imagine investing in someone socially invested in Priscilla because you are a pathetic sack of shit that HE KNOWS you will forgive him for because you do not demand better.

She's still running after him at the end of this book.

Still enjoying how he enjoys the power imbalance.

He left you in a cramped apartment.

But people like this sit and nuance whats happening in Gaza and Lebanon.

They pretend they need to secure the world, blow up babies and deserve to have their Toxic Emotional Enabler get on her knees and call him Sir.

She's not a person.

She's an empty shell of a placeholder for the Unseen, Unloved and uttterly Unfucked to pretend submissive is better.

Imagine the romance of wanting a partner.

Toxic, flying monkeys, starving the world and literally pretending they have a heart of gold.

Can't relate to nuancing a toxic shit and then saving him, when he's like that because everyone saves him.

Mary is there because she nuances their abuses.

Green Pilled Patriarchial Parable of Toxicity.

The most love he ever even talks about internally, is when her mouth is filled with his tiny dick.

This was a simply fantastic read, much awaited and immensely enjoyable, highly recommend
Knox is a very difficult character to like he is a thorough jerk to those that are around him and it would be immensely difficult if working for him not to punch him on the nose as at times it seems this is the only way you would get your feeling across,
June who is Kelly’s assistant needs her job as it is the only thing that is supporting her family and so she bites her tongue and keeps her opinion to her self whenever she has to deal with Knox because she knows that her job is the only thing keeping food on her family’s table.
Knox is attracted to June and he is doing all that he can not to show this fact and not to allow it to progress including calling her by the wrong name, and constantly annoying her and pushing her buttons by being unpleasant which she does not understand as she treats him professionally at all times.
She is a strong character and she knows that she would like to get to know Knox better, she is able to see past his scars and the tough and untouchable persona he is so good at putting on but is he brave enough to allow her to get close.
I assure you that once you begin reading this book you will not be able to put it down.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

If you’re fan of steamy, grumpy/sunshine, workplace romances featuring ex-military, angry A-hole heroes and the plus sized, sassy heroines who initially only tolerate them because they need the money, and the salary is extraordinarily generous then this is the author for you.

June deserved a medal for putting up with Knox in The Unplanned Wedding. He expected her to be at his disposal 24 hours a day all while pretending he didn’t know her name but secretly, he was impressed at her staying power, then when he realised she was submissive he decided to make full use of the personal side of personal assistant. With sizzling chemistry between them, the tension soon mounted as things began to heat up in the boardroom so when he was forced into an arranged marriage who better than the woman he was coming to care for.

With the Davenports series, each new hero is worse than the previous one but that just makes their redemption all the more sweeter. Yes, these books are a bit formulaic but if something works, why mess with it. If I’m being honest, some of the sex scenes were a bit cringy but again whatever floats your boat. Personally, I’m just waiting for the introduction of a resident psychiatrist to Primrose Hill, they’d make a fortune with all these borderline crazy, alpha men!

Good read! 4.25 stars

So.. wanted to love this one and had been counting down until the release ‘cause Knox was such an interesting character! Plus, Knox and June’s little blip in Quentin’s story had me intrigued. I wasn’t disappointed per se; it’s just, I wasn’t expecting the awkwardness of the storyline and that’s why I gave it 4.25 stars.

Knox gave us everything we looked for in his character. Everything! I loved how the author allowed us to better understand why he was the way he was while also walking us through the character development Knox had. It was pure awesomeness! June was a spitfire with just the right amount of softness and tender hearted nature to capture our attention and have us rooting for them. So here’s where the pause comes…it was a struggle for me to embrace June’s proclivities simply because it seemed forced. Knox was natural and it should’ve been for June, too, but alas it wasn’t (not for me as a reader). This is my only critique and it unfortunately interrupted what should have been an automatic hit! 4.25 stars is my final rating.

OAN I spent a portion of this book thinking about Ryot and lo and behold WE’VE GOT ACTION!!

Knox Davenport is the grumpiest of men and boss of June his new assistant. She learns quickly that she can dish back. It’s her witty quick thinking and her beauty that has Knox thinking more of her than an assistant. When she learns his needs beyond work she is fascinated and along for the ride. This is a dark workplace romance story. This was spicy and dark with BDSM. For some maybe too much but I was all for it! I loved their story. My only feedback is the slow burn seemed repetitive at times. Overall a great read and definitely recommend.

Tropes
Forced proximity
Boss-employee
Fake relationship
Curvy FMC
BDSM
Dominant billionaire romance

Some favs:
“She wants me in all my kinky glory. In fact, she's wanted the unvarnished side of me from the beginning. She wants me as I am, proclivities and all.”

“It feels like I've finally come home. A place where I belong. I'm not only June, adopted daughter.
I'm Knox's wife. I'm my Sir's submissive. My master's woman. And he's my husband. He's mine. I, too, feel complete in a way I hadn't realized I needed. I fall asleep with a smile on my face.”

I just finished Knox and June's story! It was so heartbreaking from what Knox went thru in the service and being treated the way he was, like he had germs or serious flaws when he removed. June had a dreadful childhood but at least she had a lovey foster mom to take care of and love. Now she wants to take of her and her foster sister and brother,so she gets hired has Knox's assistant but he has treated all of his assistants the same and don't stay long until June.Knox is type of person with no heart until June/July comes along and cracks it.Both Knox and June are very strong, independent people,Knox didn't know how to laugh or smile until June came along then he was a goner,June doesn't take any of his crap and she is very fierce! Knox's grandfather is a sly old dog and Knox falls to his wishes even if it wasn't the right women.I can't wait for Knox's brother's book to come out,it sounds so good but so sad.The Unplanned Wedding was a very compassion story, loving,it had heart! Please read, you will not be disappointed.

Knox Davenport is head of the Davenport Media division, he is intemse, rude and can’t keep an assistant. June is sweet, and needs a job to take care of her family and her bills. She heard from her friend tha there was an opening at Davenport for and administrative assistant and decides to apply. She is hired on the spot and doesn’t understand when HR refers to her boss as The Beast. Soon she will, but she has a backbone of steel and can take everything he throws at her until he asks her to marty him! Soon, therefater their lives will forever be changed and it will force Knox to open up about his past in the Marined what happened to cause his disfigurement. Together they will heal each other from their past. I loved June and her sass to stand up to the ogre tha is Knox. However, the man needed a swift kick in the arse to force to face his feelings and I found it endearing. June was always an open book and from the moment she entered his office, she was already hooked. Arthur is at it again and I suspect Ryot is the next Davenport man to fall. Fabulous, riveting story.

Amazing read, I have been waiting for Knox's story!!!
I have been looking forward to Knox and June's story since the blurb from the last book, and it did not disappoint. I love how these two met and worked together. The chemistry was off the charts hot as were the intimate scenes!! I love possessive growly men and Knox has that down pat. He could come off as a bosshole, but June thrived on it most of the time. I could see how some might not like how June was treated, so if you don't like the bosshole types that aren't always nice, this isn't the book for you. I loved it!!! The next one looks promising already, and I am still waiting more info on what is going on with Michael. Great read, the whole series is great start from the beginning.

I received an ARC of this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I will purchase for my collection anyways, so I'm not sure the ARC part matters.

Knox Davenport is the billionaire MMC in this book. He is a former marine who was injured and a former prisoner of war in Afghanistan. He has numerous issues, he is intolerant, impatient, controlling, and he is a strategist which comes in handy as the CEO of the family business. June, the MFC, desperately needs a job. Her friend Zoey suggested the assistant position for Knox. She was warned that he is extremely difficult to work for. June is sassy, respectful and up to the challenge. She is a resilient woman who has chosen to be the financial support for her family. My heart went out to June because of her commitment to her family. The attraction between them has numerous unexpected emotional issues. Their story is steamy, has multiple storylines, some interesting characters with immense personal growth.

This Bookfunnel ARC is an interesting read with a very good introduction for the next book

As usual, L Steele nailed another Beautiful book. Knox is an obnoxious, workaholic CEO who can’t keep an assistant because of his demands and ill- tempered. June is a sweet innocent girl who is looking for a job to support her family. Her best friend Zoey recommended her to apply to a position at The Davenport Group and this is where their story begins. From the moment they met, Knox tested her by being rude and cold. June realized that in order to keep her job she needed to show him that she is stronger than he thinks she is and set the tone of their working relationship. Their attraction is mutual and strong which makes Knox uncomfortable since he never thought he could be loved for who he is because his face was disfigured. He does everything in his power to push June away but their attractions were too strong to dismiss her. Both characters faces their demons and overcome all the obstacles reaching their HEA. I loved this book and recommend it to everyone.
