Hi Rhonda.
Such lovely words! Thank you. I’m so glad you loved both books. In The Road Beyond Ruin, the back and forth in time was a detour from my usual style but I wanted to offer something different. Needless to say the experience made my own head spin at times. I’m in the middle of the developmental phase for a new historical fiction novel being released in January next year, in a similar writing style to Broken Angels but with a different setting.
Kind regards, Gemma(less)
Gemma Liviero Thank you so much for the encouragement, Marie. I will give it my best! :)

"Wonderful book. I wasn't sure what to expect as I read this as a freebie from Amazon Prime.
Set in one of the German states during the mid 17th century, it centres on a lowly servent girl that as an orphan, has been sold at the age of thirteen to to a" Read more of this review »

"This was good fun (well, as fun as torturing and burning "witches" can be, I suppose). There's a real mystery here - with a solution that genuinely surprised me. It's also a chilling look at the workings of a theocracy where one man chosen by the chu" Read more of this review »

“Each time my mother sank to the bottom of cold despair, she would always find a break in the ice above, to breathe new air, to find new purpose. She never indulged in self-pity, nor did she point the finger of blame for her misfortunes. Her heart was clear of bitterness. I believe that if a person’s strength of character is measured at the end of his or her life, it is by these qualities—qualities that allow a life to be lived, free of those restraints we place upon ourselves. But that doesn’t mean we should forget.”

“Late afternoon, a package arrives addressed to me. Inside is a picture book and the title is Hansel and Gretel. It is the most beautiful book. It has a golden spine and the pictures are shining with color.
I read the whole book over and over again and then I read it to Greta, who clings to me afterwards.
