Before the events of the story, Tron, Cron's younger brother, steals Cron's invention, the printer. When a Soldier Waddle Dee doesn't let Waddle Dee enter the elevator to the top floor, Cron appears before him. Cron gives the Soldier Waddle Dee sleeping medication to allow Waddle Dee to pass him, and gifts Waddle Dee a cannon to defeat the Dededestroyer Z.
After Tron reveals his true plan, Cron shows up and explains that he is the real inventor, and that Tron is just a farmer. He begs Tron to stop his plan and explains Tron's motives behind it, starving the residents of Dream Land to sell his awful crops. Cron tells Kirby that the only way to stop Tron's plan is to destroy the Kirby Printer, which will destroy the Kirby copies. Cron regrets building the printer to be indestructible as they are unable to destroy it. After the Kirby Printer is destroyed and Tron laments his defeat, Cron tries to cheer him up by offering to help him with farming, but Tron doesn't want to work hard. Cron discovers that the Waddle Dees didn't disappear with the destruction of the printer. He reveals that since Tron didn't process Waddle Dee's data, the Waddle Dee copies cannot disappear. He offers to find a solution for that, but King Dedede refuses to erase them. Later, Cron tells Tron that his plan would not have worked, since the Kirby copies would have eaten all his crops too fast. Tron starts to think about a new money-making scheme, but Cron drags him out of castle back to home before he can finish his thought.
