Colonel Kaplan is an officer in the First Order and a minor antagonist in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.
He was portrayed by Pip Torrens.
Biography[]
Kaplan was aboard the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Finalizer when it traveled to the planet Jakku to steal the map to Luke Skywalker's location from retired explorer Lor San Tekka. Though the First Order succeeded in killing the explorer and capturing Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, the map was taken away by Poe's astromech droid, BB-8.
When Stormtrooper FN-2187 (aka "Finn") defected and helped Poe escape by hijacking a TIE/sf fighter with him, Kaplan ordered that the TIE fighter be stopped after learning about the escape attempt from one of his officers.
However, Finn used the TIE fighter's turrets to blast the First Order forces, including the control room Kaplan was in, killing all the personnel and Kaplan himself. It managed to distract them long enough for Poe to disconnect the TIE fighter's support cable and fly away.
