The Jellyfish Leader is the main antagonist of the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Planet Of The Jellyfish". Much like the Pod People that its based on, the Overlord is the progenitor of an alien species called Jelliens that replace the native species of a planet that it invades by spawning emotionless monotone replicas.
He was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.
Biography[]
Invasion Beginning[]
During the beginning of the episode, after SpongeBob passes by a creepy cave, the ruler, whom notices their presence, eats a jellyfish, assimilating it and proceeds to make an army of Jelliens. It knew that SpongeBob and Patrick are hunting jellyfishes, and sent some of his Jellien Jellyfishes after them.
One of the Jellien Jellyfishes eats Patrick and makes a clone of him, and thus Jellien Patrick is born. Once the Jellien cloning process is finished, it had Jellien Patrick do its work while carrying the unconscious real Patrick to the Jellian Leader off-screen. Jellien Patrick, who proceeds to manipulate SpongeBob, had the rest of the Jellien Jellyfish pretend to be captured by it. The manipulation tactic was successful as SpongeBob, who also caught one for himself was unsuspicious with one of its members, and still thinks that it's a new breed because they didn't sting. Jellien Patrick and SpongeBob both give out the Jellien Jellyfish to the citizens of Bikini Bottom, unaware that they were made into duplicates.
Rising to Power[]
As this happens, the Jellian Leader, with unknown means of transportation, arrives at the Krusty Krab and proceeds to build a nest within the freezer room by the time the Jelliens manage to take over most of the citizens except SpongeBob (who realized that the invasion has began and discovered the Hive) and Sandy Cheeks (who notices the Jelliens' presence due to their unnatural eye shape in spite of imitating Bikini Bottomites). They both learn that the Jellien's weakness is mayonnaise due to them never wanting to eat it. This proved to be correct as when both of them were surrounded by Jelliens on the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob shot one of the Jelliens with mayonnaise, immediately killing it and reducing the body to a green goo.
Final Battle and Defeat[]
By the time they killed the Jelliens, their original counterparts, which were cocooned within the nest, awaken (implying that the Jellien clones had a telepathic connection with the cocoon that restrained the original and when they're killed, the cocoon would rot and free the said original). Patrick and the captives are cornered by the Jellian Leader and the Jellien Jellyfish until SpongeBob and Sandy burst in. A brief battle occurs, where SpongeBob blasts all of its Jellien Jellyfishes with mayonnaise and tries to spray the Jellian Leader. But due to being in the freezer room, the sprayed mayonnaise intended for the Jellian Leader froze in midair and landed on his head in a form resembling a marshmallow. However, Sandy quickly set the temperature to warm, melting the mayonnaise. The Jellian Leader and its fellow Jelliens die and burst into goop due to their telepathic connection.
Appearance[]
The Jellian Leader looks like a giant, green jellyfish with unnatural black eyes that resemble snails. The eyes are similar to its Jellien minions. Its internal organs (brain and what appeared to be two hearts), which jellyfish lacks, can be seen through its transparent body. The Jellian Leader's mouth, which is huge, is located on his body.
Powers and Additional Information[]
Since the Jellian Leader only appeared in one episode, there is not much additional information that we could learn about it or its race. So far, the shown abilities was it can consume a nearby living creature in order to create a number of Jellien clones of the said creatures' species like it did to an unfortunate jellyfish that stumbled upon it.
These newly created Jelliens became the Primary Jelliens, which would later engulf any Non-Jellien lifeforms that they encounter, creating their Jellien duplicates, and then bring the original to the Jellian Leader that created it. Jelliens that were created by Primary Jelliens are Secondary Jelliens, that would assist the Primary Jelliens as well as taking over lives that the originals had in their normal days.
Being a race that is portrayed as having a matriarchal system, Jellian Leader serves as Alpha/Queen for the Jelliens within the Hive. It also has a telepathic connection with the rest of the Jellien Hive as had it been killed, the rest of the Jelliens would die along with it.

- In the episode the Jellian Leader appears in, their gender was never specified, though it is implied to be female due to it being the leader to all of the Jelliens and the birther of them.
- The Jellian Leader is shown to be much smarter than a wild animal, since it pointed and laughed at SpongeBob after the mayo he threw at it froze.
- The species name "Jellien" is a portmanteau of the words jelly(fish) and alien.
- The Jellian Leader was featured as the main antagonist of the high profile SpongeBob SquarePants fangame "Around the Clock at Bikini Bottom", which serves as an unofficial sequel story to the episode it debuted in.
- The Jellyfish Leader is the first antagonist from the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise who dies.
