A downloadable Oracle

This is a miniature pocketfold Oracle for solo RPGs.

It features a Fate Check that is easy to read, intuitive to understand, and doesn't require any math, modifiers, or state. It also features a small but complete set of 1d10 tables that provide a large variety of inspiration for playing out your solo game.

Inside you will find the following, all on a single page:

- Fate Check for answering Yes/No questions
- Quest Generator and Scene Generators
- Random Events
- Immersion Events
- Challenge and DC generation
- Pay the Price for failed challenges
- Properties / Details / History tables for adding flavor to something
- Random Object / Treasure Generator
- NPC Behaviors, including conversation topics and combat
- Dungeon Generator with Encounters
- Hex Crawl Generator with Encounters and Weather
- Name Generators for NPCs
- Settlement Names and Establishments

In addition, there are Meaning Tables for:

- Verbs / Adjectives / Nouns
- People / Occupations
- Locations
- Events
- Creatures
- Traps

This should be everything you need to build and experience an adventure! Instructions are included in the PDF.

It is based heavily on the Mythic System by Tana Pigeon and Ironsworn by Shawn Tomkin, as well as much inspiration from Jeansen Vaars. The main Fate check is based on the Motif Story Engine and Recluse.

This pairs really well with Winsome, a mini-Ironsworn homebrew.

Since this is based heavily on the work of others (most notably Tana Pigeon), I will never charge money for this. If you wish to support any future work on this, please support Tana's Mythic Magazines.

Thank you!

Hey, apologies if this is incorrect, but did you ever put out a PDF of printable cards that use the Juice oracle system?

i did make some cards a long time ago, but after a lot of play testing I determined they had a lot of flaws and scrapped the idea. Now I use the pocket fold alongside the gm apprentice cards.

I think I've been using the cards you made and I think they are perfect. But I haven't used them extensively. What was the issue you found after play-testing them?

I was trying to find a way to have the cards tell me Ironsworn results in place of dice, but the method I used didn't account for assets or momentum properly.

The Y/N answers at the top didn't really account for advantage/disadvantage, though that can be somewhat solved by drawing two cards.

The icons in the middle have duplicates and are not evenly distributed.

There is no name generator! Which I have found is a must-have.

The 5e DCs are way off, I found they are too high.

The dice rolls at the bottom didn't have a fate roll (+/0/-), even though Juice relies heavily on that.

I might revisit making a card set again in the future, but I think some of the complex tables in the pocketfold just won't translate well.

Understood. I really dig the answers at the top. I haven't run into any duplicates of the icons, but I haven't been using them too often. A name generator would be useful for sure! I don't use the DCs or the dice rolls, but I'm happy they're there! I hope you revisit the cards and refine them. They're the most useful cards for solo play I've come across! Better than the Mythic GME deck, all the GMA decks, and the Encounter Builder decks as well.

Thanks for the feedback! Perhaps I will reconsider the cards then. :)

I am working on another revision to the pocketfold. Still early in the process, but one of the things I want to add is a way to generate dialog with an NPC.

Are there any other things missing that you think would be handy to have?

This is no doubt the greatest oracle ever! It's compact and straight to the point, yet still retains all the great essence of the inspired sources.

However, Juice Oracle is not but without faults. One such lies in the usefulness and portability of this little thing, because it's all due to those traits that my Mythic 2E book -- which cost an arm and a leg -- has been collecting dust on the shelves since forever now.

Juice Oracle is just that useful to such a fault.

Therefore, my rating for this oracle is a 1D6 out of 2D10. (the dice result was a critical strong hit)

Ha! I love it! Thanks for the fun review :)

Thank you for this, I'm a long time fan of Mythic, and I'm always looking for simple mechanics that inspire story. 🤩

I have a BIG bag of FATE dice I never get to use anymore because I play different systems these days, so I already had the loveliest set to choose from for this system.

BY FAR the best instant result *magic 8-ball* effect and I am printing BUNCHES of these to show to everyone I know.
This is now a standard GMing tool in my set.
The meanings table is also much more readable and easy to use, and with the tables provided you can easily answer ANY question you could possibly ask with easily interpretable results that fit in your pocket.

NOTE: you will need to read the full version before the pocket one makes any sense, but I LOVE pocketfolds. and this is now the best one I have.

FANTASTIC work, and setting agnostic so I can use it with my whole collection of weird space games.

Thank you so much, I'm glad this tool has been so useful to you!

I think this is the best oracle system I've ever come across. Well done! You've successfully melded the best aspects of the best oracles out there. I'm definitely going to be employing this for my own sessions. I think this is the system I would have tried to craft for myself if I had the mind for it.

Have you considered doing a Science Fiction version based on Starforged?

Thanks! That means a lot :)

I don't have any plans to make a Sci-Fi version at the moment.
