Gen V

Gen V (originally titled The Boys Presents: Varsity) is an American superhero comedy drama on Amazon Prime Video. The series is the second spinoff of The Boys, after The Boys Presents: Diabolical, following the success of the series' second season.^[1] The series is developed by Craig Rosenberg with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty serving as executive producers.

Synopsis[]

Set at Godolkin University, America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (and run by Vought International), Gen V is described as an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire and raunch of The Boys.^[1]

Development[]

On September 24, 2020, Amazon announced that a spinoff series had been put on fast-track development following The Boys record Season 2 launch. The project is written by The Boys' executive producer Craig Rosenberg. The spinoff had been in the works for awhile but was fast-tracked in light of the success of the original series’ second season which marked the most-watched global launch of an Amazon Original series ever.^[1]

On March 11, 2022, it was announced that the series lost two of its lead actors.^[3] And later on April 25, 2022, it was announced that actress Reina Hardesty left the show.^[4]

On July 14, 2022, it was announced a new title as "Gen V" through a clip of production on The Boys twitter post.^[5]

Just like The Boys, filming for Gen V took place in Toronto. Filming started on May 2, 2022 and finished on September 16, 2022. ^[6]
