Daphne reappears in Hughie's life when his father and Daphne's ex-husband ends up in the hospital. Daphne admits to Hughie that they've spoken a lot more in the last year and he gave her power of attorney in case anything happened to him. She decided to pull the plug, which upset Hughie, but Daphne insists this is what he wanted. However, after Hughie gets a vial of Compound-V, Daphne sees it fall from his jacket pocket and she injects it into Hugh.
Hugh gets brought back to life and they all reconnect and share a tender moment before Hugh starts to forget things and becomes angry towards her. He has powers from the V and starts accidentally killing people. Daphne and Hughie run but ultimately decide to kill Hugh in a peaceful way. They inject him and stay with him until he dies.
