about

"deitez" is the old Middle French word meaning deities (plural).

I had so much trouble finally settling on that title and I really wanted to use a Celt or Gaul word for "goddess" but information was conflicting and in the end I gave up.

The first five goddess names appearing on this collection of works are generally associated with mainland Europe, where as Fódla is associated with Éire.

Fódla is also the "odd one out" because it was recorded in November 2018, a live performance using a Keystep to play my Elements module.

Sequana, Sirona, Ritona, and Adraste were all created towards the end of 2023 using mainly my modular system and guitar.

Epona was recorded live on Monday May 6th 2024 and there is a video of that performance on YouTube.

deitez is primarily a drone album with guitar over the top although there are some sequencer arrangements from time to time, especially on Epona.

The album art was created by me using a combination of BrycsCAD (I find a CAD package easier to use to draw vector graphics because I use AutoCAD in my day job), Chaotica (for the background texture) and Affinity Designer (to bring everything together).

as always, I hope you enjoy :-)

cheers,

andy
