The Nov-class Dyson Science Destroyer is a Tier 5 (Level 40) Science Destroyer which may be flown by Klingon Defense Force characters and their allies, excluding Klingon Empire-aligned Romulan Republic characters. All faction restrictions of this starship can be removed by having a level 65 KDF character or by purchasing the Cross Faction Flying unlock from the Zen Store.
Players can obtain this starship from the Lobi Crystal Consortium for 600 . The choice box's contents depend on the player's faction; Klingon Empire players will receive the Nov Dyson Science Destroyer when opening it.
The Nov-class was first introduced as a limited-time reward for participating in the 4 Year Anniversary Event by collecting 1000 [Anniversary Qmendation]. Players who claimed this ship or its Federation or Klingon Empire counterparts from that event may reclaim it now on all Klingon Defense Force and Jem'Hadar-aligned KDF characters on their account via the Event Reputation Account Reward Claim tab.
Overview[]
The Dyson Joint Command’s engineering and scientific efforts within the Solanae Dyson Sphere have yielded incredible results. The Romulan Republic, Klingon Defense Force, and Federation have all been able to adapt the astonishing technologies found within this artificial celestial structure to their own ends.
The Nov-class Dyson Science Destroyer is one of the Joint Command's newest vessels inspired by designs found within the Solanae Dyson Sphere, but adapted to suit the needs of Klingon Empire without the required use of Omega Particles. These starships are first and foremost a Science Vessel, but are capable of entering Tactical Mode to significantly alter their performance.
The use of the word "Nov" — the Klingon word for "Alien" — as a class designation is telling, as the Nov's smooth, rounded surfaces and white-and-purple coloration (brought by the incorporation of Solanae Dyson Sphere materials and technology into the design) feel almost at odds with the more pragmatic, rustic design sensibilities favored by the Klingon, Nausicaan, Orion, and Gorn shipbuilders that make up the KDF fleet.
The Nov class most closely resembles the Peghqu'-class Heavy Destroyer. A dramatic visual change occurs when the Tactical Mode is activated - the dorsal dome closes to protect the secondary deflector, ship's nacelles retract, shortening their length slightly, and armored panels slide out to shield their exposed "glow" portions. The Nov's Proton Dual Heavy Cannons then swing outward from the leading edges of the pylons.
Class variants[]
Class | Information |
---|---|
SKIN UNLOCK: Free The Nov class resembles the Peghqu' class in general profile, with a tubular fuselage terminating in a bulbous "head", flanked by straight, wing-like pylons capped by long nacelles. Where the Peghqu' houses its Lotus emitter, the Nov mounts a dome-like structure that contains the ship's secondary deflector. | |
SKIN UNLOCK: Chontay Dyson Tactical Science Destroyer, 2,500 The Chontay-class is a tactical-oriented variant of the original Klingon Dyson Science Destroyer. Its dark hull material and additional cannon muzzles underneath the "head" section boost the Chontay's already aggressive, ready for combat appearance. | |
SKIN UNLOCK: MoQ Dyson Battle Science Destroyer, 2,500 The MoQ class is an engineering-oriented variant. Closest in appearance to the Nov class, the MoQ bridges the design difference between the Chontay class and the Ta'Sub classes with its mostly white hull plating and only a few black accents on the ship's nacelles, mission pod and "neck" section. | |
SKIN UNLOCK: Ta'Sub Dyson Command Science Destroyer, 2,500 The Ta'Sub class is a more science-oriented variant of the original Klingon Dyson Science Destroyer. Its science focus is reflected in its pitch white hull plating. The ship is stubbier when compared to other variants, with shorter warp nacelles and wider "neck" section. |

Abilities[]
Universal consoles[]
The Nov Dyson Science Destroyer doesn't come equipped with any universal consoles.
However, it can equip [Console - Universal - Protonic Shield Matrix], [Console - Universal - Shield Inversion Projector] and [Console - Universal - Proton Destabilizer Module] which form the Solanae Advanced Technologies Set. This consoles are obtainable with Dyson Battle Science Destroyer (T5), Dyson Command Science Destroyer (T5) and Dyson Tactical Science Destroyer (T5), but can also be equipped on the Nov Dyson Science Destroyer. For each console added after the first, an additional passive bonus is unlocked.
Cloak
The Nov-class Dyson Science Destroyer has a cloak that allows the ship to cloak when not in combat, granting stealth and a damage bonus upon decloaking.
Sensor Analysis[]
Sensor Analysis is an active toggle ability available to the Nov-class Dyson Science Destroyer while it is in Science Mode. While maintaining a Sensor Lock on a target, the player gains a stacking effect that either improves the damage and power drain against an enemy, or improves any heal directed towards an ally. This effect stacks every 3 seconds, to a maximum of 6 stacks after 18 continuous seconds. To maintain the desired effect, the player must hold the sensor lock.
Subsystem Targeting[]
The Nov-class Dyson Science Destroyer comes with built-in Subsystem Targeting abilities that it may use while it is in Science Mode. These built-in abilities stay at Rank I and do not automatically rank up when acquiring higher tier Science starships. They are separate from Subsystem Targeting abilities gained through Tactical Space Bridge officer abilities.
- Target Auxiliary Subsystems I
- Target Weapons Subsystems I
- Target Engines Subsystems I
- Target Shields Subsystems I
Activating a subsystem targeting ability will upgrade all energy weapons to inflict a stacking power drain on the foe's targeted subsystem for the next 10 seconds. They will also have a small chance to knock the targeted subsystem offline for a short duration.
Tactical Mode[]
A built-in Tactical Mode ability allows the Nov Dyson Science Destroyer to switch between a default Science Mode and Tactical Mode.
Activating the Tactical Mode transforms the starship from a typical Science Vessel into a combat-oriented Destroyer. This disables most of advanced science systems while activating additional tactical systems:

|
Tactical Mode may be deactivated at any time to return to the default Science Mode, but doing so incurs a 60 second cooldown on the transformation back to Tactical Mode.
Special features[]
The Nov Dyson Science Destroyer comes equipped with the following unique items:
- [Solanae Dual Heavy Proton Cannons Mk XII [Acc] [CrtH]x2], a proton weapon similar to the Dyson Proton Weapon and only usable on Dyson Science Destroyers when Tactical Mode is active.
- [Solanae Secondary Deflector], part of the Solanae Advanced Technologies Set; designed to improve starship's shield effectiveness as well as siphon shield strength from foes
- [Solanae Overcharged Warp Core Mk XII], part of the Solanae Hybrid Technologies Set.
Standard configuration[]
