A regiment of sandtroopers served the Galactic Empire's Imperial Army during the Galactic Civil War,^[2] and served as part of the famed and elite 501st Legion, Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader's personal legion.^[1] Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin^[2] and Darth Vader dispatched Commander Praji^[1] and the regiment^[2] to retrieve the stolen Death Star plans in the possession of two Rebel Alliance droids,^[1] joining the local garrison in the process.^[5] Foot Patrol 7 and TD-4445's squad were part of the regiment.^[2]
