"The fabled Faa fish. Its tale is one riven with greed – soaked to the bone with tragedy. There are scant few Faa left, on account of their succulent glands."
―Skoova Stev[3]

Faa, also known as faa fish or big-mouth faa,[3] were a species of scalefish native to the planet Naboo. They lived alongside six other scalefish species in the waters around the city Otoh Gunga in Lake Paonga, and could also be found in the Naboo Abyss where they were preyed upon indiscriminately by the large colo claw fish and opee sea killers that dwelt there.[2] Unlike other scalefish species, which were mostly harmless, the faa was a vicious carnivore[4] By 9 BBY,[5] there were only a few faa left on the planet Koboh due to them being harvested for their succulent glands.[3]

This section of the article assumes 100% game completion of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Any alternate stories may be noted in the "Behind the scenes" section. The events in this section may or may not have been confirmed as canon.

Skoova Stev, a fisherman who resided on Koboh, caught a big-mouth faa[3] in 9 BBY[5] and put it in a fish tank at Pyloon's Saloon.[3]

The faa fish in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Faa first appeared in the film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.[6] They were first identified in the Star Wars Legends video game Star Wars: Episode I The Gungan Frontier.[7] They were confirmed to be canon in the reference book Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know.[2] The species was first identified as big-mouth FAA in the video game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which was developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts on April 28, 2023.[8]

Faa, along with fellow scalefish doo, ray, mee, see, laa, tee, appear to be a reference to the real-world musical scale, i.e, "Do, Re, Me, Fa, So, La, Ti, Do."
