Disruptor
The Disruptor is a sub weapon in Splatoon.
Appearance
The Disruptor appears to be a liquid substance that changes color to match the user's ink stored in a glass vial. The vial itself has a long, thin neck, a round bottom, and a black cork. The Nouveau logo is etched on the glass. There is a metal handle with a black grip connected to the vial by some dark blue supports. When the Disruptor bursts, a shifting spherical cloud of dots appears where the Disruptor was thrown. The cloud is a darker shade of the user's ink[Citation needed] and there is a black aura around it. When a player is tagged by a Disruptor, some black squids begin to swirl around them, leaving small purple trails.
Splatoon
When thrown, Disruptors will explode on contact in a spherical pattern that can phase through thin walls and around corners. They affect an Inkling's abilities for 5 seconds in the following ways:
- Running speed is decreased by about 45%.
- Swimming speed is decreased by about 65%.
- Ink consumption is increased.
- Ink recovery rate is reduced.
- Upon submersion, the affected Inkling will glow, revealing their position.
- Jump height is reduced.
Quotes
“ | When an opponent is hit with a Disruptor, their speed is decreased significantly, making them an easy target—they're also surrounded by several swimming squid icons, making them easy to spot, even when swimming. In addition to reducing their speed, Disruptor also increases the ink consumption of their weapons while reducing the rate at which their ink tank is replenished. In short, this is a great way to disable opponents. The Disruptor has a sphere-like blast radius. Any opponents caught within this sphere are affected. For best results, toss these in congested areas like chokepoints or Splat Zones where you're likely to affect multiple opponents. | ” |
