The Egg Guardian is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, humanoid-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

The Egg Guardian has a humanoid appearance, sporting white and tan/gold armor, an energy core in its chest that only comes out when attacked after firing its fists, and is armed with a set of rapid-firing machine guns located in the stubs of its arms that can only be used once it has fired its fists at its target. It can be equipped with a pair of clawed hands in similar colors of its armor, or a pair of large metal maces, which it fires at its target, and detonate after a few seconds with a moderate blast radius. The claws/maces regenerate after some time.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)[]

In Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Egg Guardians appear as enemies in White Acropolis, Dusty Desert, Tropical Jungle, Kingdom Valley, and Aquatic Base. They attack by launching their fists at foes and rotate their upper torsos using machine guns hidden behind their lower arms, which can regenerate after a certain period of time. The Egg Guardians cannot be paralyzed by Silver's Psychokinesis while their two fists or spheres are still attached to their bodies.

When hit while its arms are detached, the Egg Guardian will fall over and eject its energy core. Repeated strikes to the core or the use of Silver's Psychokinesis will destroy the robot. To deal damage without being hurt in Sonic and Shadow's case, the player has to attack the Egg Guardian before it launches its fists, as it will either hurt the player from its explosion or hurt the player when it falls.

Sonic Rivals 2[]

In Sonic Rivals 2, the Egg Guardian appears on a collectible card:

Shadow Generations[]

The Egg Guardians reappear in Shadow Generations, appearing in Kingdom Valley and fight the same way as their debut.

Variants[]

Egg Keeper[]

Main article: Egg Keeper (Sonic the Hedgehog (2006))

The Egg Keepers are the advanced versions of the Egg Guardians. They are similar in appearance, but have a red and grey color scheme as well as increased speed and armor. Their attacks are similar to the Egg Guardians but the only difference is that after their fists or spheres are destroyed, they will launch volcanic lasers instead of firing a machine gun.
