General Buzz Grunt is a pre-made Sim living in Strangetown with his three sons, Tank, Ripp and Buck Grunt. His ex-wife Lyla was electrocuted sometime after she left him, and is deceased. General Buzz has brown hair in a buzz cut and can be seen wearing his military uniform or a green shirt, tan pants, and brown shoes. He is at the top of the Military career. His father and grandfather were also generals.

Biography[]

Life leading up to The Sims 2[]

His house is described as a domesticated boot camp, whose house number is 51, which is most likely a reference to the highly secretive military base 'Area 51'. He also takes a military approach to raising his sons, while his ex-wife Lyla took the part of emotionally caring for them — she taught them almost all toddler skills, with General Buzz having taught Tank only two of his toddler skills. When first played, he is 15 days away from being an elder. General Buzz is voiced by Stephen Kearin.

General Buzz is an aggressive Sim who has many feuds with others in the Strangetown community: Olive Specter (Lyla died on her lot), the Curious brothers and Loki Beaker (he won fights with them as a teenager). His most recent feud is with Pollination Technician 9, because he had lost a fight with him. Many fans interpret General Buzz as trying to get aliens to leave Strangetown.

Ironically enough, he has a higher lifetime relationship with Pollination Technician 9 than with his own sons. Despite this, he still considers PT9 an enemy and he wants to fight him upon loading the Grunt lot for the first time in game. He has positive, but low, relationships with the Curious brothers and Loki Beaker. He only has a negative relationship with Olive (though, oddly, she usually wants to invite him over when the Specter family is first played. This might be because Lyla died on Olive's lot).

When viewing one of the pictures in the Grunt family album, General Buzz's skin color matches the medium (S3) skintone, instead of the light (S1) skintone he sports in-game. There is an early Strangetown trailer featuring the Grunts and the Smiths. Both General Buzz and PT9 have different facial features, and General Buzz having the voice provided by David Boat, rather than the one provided by Stephen Kearin that he has in-game.

Strangely, General Buzz doesn't have the memory of mastering the body skill. Because he has reached level 4 of the Military career, General Buzz has a Military career reward available for him to purchase, disregarding the fact that there is already one in the backyard.

Likely due to the amount of changes made through the development of the game, his relationship data in SimPE towards Pascal and Lazlo Curious, as well as Pollination Tech 9 Smith and Olive Specter contain hidden, nonsensical family flags. These flags will not show up in-game.

If the The Sims 2: FreeTime is installed, General Buzz's predestined hobby will be sports, because of his active and grouchy personality.^[TS2:FT]

Life leading up to The Sims 2 (PSP)[]

In The Sims 2 (PSP), he has escalated his war against the Smiths, kidnapping Jenny, Jill and Johnny.

Despite the General's harsh nature, he does have a nice side. He will start to like the player once they build up their friendship. The General will still act nasty towards the player, but only to keep up appearances. He says he can't show favoritism, otherwise discipline will "go out the window."

General Buzz's secrets in The Sims 2 (PSP):

• (Personal): They call him Buzz because he shaves his chest every morning.
• (Intimate): Buzz got his stripes by pushing paper above and beyond the call of duty.
• (Dark): Buzz sleeps with a teddy bear in camouflage that he calls "the Brigadier".
• (Keep Enemies Closer): General Grunt has imprisoned the Smith family under the guise of "protecting" them.

Life leading up to The Sims 4[]

An official Maxis recreation of General Buzz and his family was uploaded to the The Sims 4 Gallery on February 28, 2019, marking the 19th anniversary of The Sims. In this timeline, Buzz is a grand marshal instead of general, he has brown eyes instead of grey, and he is missing the black lines underneath his eyes. He is friends with all three of his sons, but his ex-wife Lyla is only an acquaintance. Unlike the remakes of the Newbie family and the Pleasant family on the Gallery, Buzz has several skill points in a variety of different areas. He has the bonus traits Over-Achiever and Argumentative from The Sims 4: Parenthood. He also has the Highflier reward trait, which is achieved by completing the Stuck in their Shadow Scenario, which was only added to the game after the gallery upload. He will become an elder in 22 days.
