The daughter of a former slave, Tilly became an outlaw at the age of 12, running with a gang called the Foreman Brothers after they kidnapped her from her mother. At some point, she killed Anthony Foreman's cousin, Malcolm, by slitting his throat when he tried to make advances on her and left the gang. Tilly then returned to her mother's working place, only to found out that she had passed away. Dutch van der Linde later encountered Tilly while she was in trouble; as he had with Arthur and John, Dutch saved the young girl, raised her, and taught her how to read. Tilly viewed Dutch as a surrogate father and was very grateful for his acts of kindness.[1]

In a random encounter, she may approach Arthur about an O'Driscoll operation in the Valentine Doctor's Office, of which Arthur can rob.

For much of Chapter 3, Tilly continues her normal routine, remaining in camp and assisting with chores. In a companion activity, she can play dominoes with Arthur, where they will jokingly converse about “killing Miss Grimshaw,” to which Arthur will respond, saying Dutch typically intends to avoid murder within camp.

Saint Denis Chapter[]

Tilly expresses her concern to Susan regarding the location of the new camp, stating that it's close to a safehouse of the Foreman Brothers. Tilly's concerns later proved to be founded, as the Foreman Brothers manage to kidnap Tilly. After finding out about this, Susan enlists Arthur's help in rescuing her, and the two find her in Radley's House. After eliminating the guards and saving Tilly, Arthur and Susan then pursue the leader of the gang, Anthony Foreman, killing more of his henchmen before hogtying him and bringing bring him back to Radley's House.

Tilly warns Anthony to leave her alone; in turn, Foreman promises that he will. Arthur has the decision to kill or spare him, with Tilly supporting the latter, although Grimshaw pushed for Arthur to slit his throat. If Arthur spares Foreman, he can be caught as a bounty in the epilogue.

Beaver Hollow Chapter[]

Tilly gives Arthur a letter from Mary Linton, before commenting that Mary "isn't worth it.” After the Pinkertons raid the Hollow, she takes Jack and hides him from them. She and Jack run from the camp and come across the other members, informing them that Abigail was captured. While Dutch, Micah, Bill, and Javier decide to abandon Abigail in order to avoid further conflict, Arthur and Sadie decide to rescue Abigail. Before leaving, however, Arthur gives Tilly his share of their just-completed train heist and tells her to live a good life. Tilly, realizing Arthur's incoming death, expresses that she'll miss him. After Abigail is rescued, she and Sadie head to Copperhead Landing to reunite with Tilly and Jack.

Epilogue[]

After leaving the gang, Tilly marries a lawyer from Haiti with the surname Pierre, with whom she would have a daughter shortly afterwards. John Marston can encounter her in Saint Denis, on a bench near the park next to the tailor shop. They greet each other and have a conversation before her trolley arrives. John tells her that he lives on a ranch with his family while still seeing Uncle, Charles, and Sadie. Tilly is pleased and promises to write him. Later, she writes a letter to John in which she reveals that her family lives in a fine house with servants, and that she still frequently sees Mary-Beth. Additionally, she mentions that she has neither seen nor heard from Karen, speculating that she died from alcoholism.

Character[]

Personality[]

Tilly is often considered sweet and innocent by her peers and is well-liked. She appears to like Molly O'Shea more than some of the other women, as evident in the mission "Polite Society, Valentine Style" when she is the first to express regret in not bringing Molly along. However, after Molly was killed after confessing to betraying the gang, Tilly is less sympathetic than most of the other women and believes that O'Shea got what she deserved. Jackson is also shown to be brave and altruistic, saving Jack from the Pinkertons in the absence of other gang members.

Tilly holds Anthony Foreman in low regard and claims that he thinks he owns her, while being hostile to him while she is captured. Nonetheless, when Foreman later promises that he’ll leave her alone, Jackson is adamant that he should be spared and asks Arthur not to kill him, revealing a forgiving side to her personality. Like other women in the gang, Tilly thinks highly of Arthur and offers multiple conversations with him at camp. Tilly is also shown to have strong relationship with the Marston family and like most of the other women in the gang, Tilly has a soft spot for young Jack Marston.

Relationships[]

Tilly has a good relationship with Mary-Beth and Karen, bonded by their responsibilities and subordination to Susan Grimshaw. It was shown that Ms. Grimshaw was very harsh with Tilly to keep her doing her chores, at the point she will one time ask Arthur if Dutch would be upset if she kills her. During Chapter 4, Tilly is kidnapped by the Foreman brothers and Susan takes immediately the initiative to rescue her and asks Arthur to come with her. An enraged Ms. Grimshaw will then threaten Anthony Foreman to never touch Tilly again and that she ain’t his property. By then, their relationship improves a lot and Tilly now considers Susan as a harsh, motherly figure, like most of the gang does. Following her kidnapping, Susan will take care of Tilly and in Chapter 6, when she expresses her fear, Susan reassures her, saying that she grew into a fine woman and that she knows she will be fine. Their relationship is one of the rare ones to improve as the story progresses.

Unlike Karen and Mary-Beth, Tilly seems to like Molly O’Shea but acter she got killed for confessing to have betrayed them, Tilly will be less sympathetic and will state that Molly got was she deserved.

It is implied, when antagonizing her, that Tilly has romantic interest in Javier Escuella, although this has yet to be confirmed.
