Hazard Hold is a 1-vs-Rivals mini-game in Mario Party 9.
Opening[]
The solo character is shown firing an electricity ring at the team members, who jump to avoid it. The screen then splits into one side for the solo character and another for the rivals.
Gameplay[]
The solo character has to try and eliminate other characters by using three different buttons, each executing a different attack: the electricity attack button sends a ring of electricity that expands from the center out, with a four-second regeneration time; the fire attack button causes the four burners to activate and slowly pivot 90 degrees; and the wind attack button sends a strong gust of wind from the fan. The electricity and fire attacks take four seconds to regenerate, while the wind attack takes two and a half seconds to regenerate. If a rival touches any of the three types of attacks, they are eliminated. The solo character wins if they eliminate all the rivals before the 30-second time limit is up. However, if at least one rival is remaining at the end, the rivals win instead.
