“ | Pumbaa: Pride Rock. Timon: So majestic. Pumbaa: So powerful. Timon: So...bizarrely named. Pumbaa, how can a rock be proud? It's a rock! Pumbaa: Well, I think it's because a "pride" is what they call a group of lions. Timon: Oh, sure, the lions get Pride Rock. |
” |
Pride Rock is a rock formation in the Pride Lands. It is the kingdom's center of government as well as the home of the royal family and their pride.
Function[]
Pride Rock serves several key functions. It is the home of the reigning monarch of the Pride Lands, their family, and their pride. Additionally, it is the center of government. It is where official internal business is conducted, where sacred ceremonies are held, and where residents may pay homage to the monarch[1][2] or appeal to them for advice, help, or requests.[3][4] Likewise, it is where foreign leaders meet with the monarch to discuss official business.[5][6]
Whenever a firstborn child of the monarch is born, they are presented to their subjects from the promontory of Pride Rock by a Royal Mjuzi.[2] Similarly, the promontory is where coronations are held.[1] Monarchs most often deliver official decrees from the promontory, such as banishments.[2] Some holidays, like the Kumbuka celebration, are held at Pride Rock.[7]
A strategically advantageous location, Pride Rock provides a clear view of the Pride Lands, including some of its bordering territories.[1][5] Because it is a high vantage-point, Pride Rock allows its residents to spot nearby dangers, such as brush fires.[2]
Composition[]
Entryway[]
The entryway serves as the entrance and pathway to the royal den and the peak of Pride Rock. It is located to the left of the peak and is surrounded by rocks, with a small pile of stones at its base. The ground of the entryway is composed of sand.[1][2]
Peak[]
The peak is the promontory that extends from the base of Pride Rock. It is the area where official business is conducted, including royal announcements, presentations, coronations, etc.[1][2]
Summit[]
The summit is the highest point on Pride Rock. It serves as a vantage-point for the monarch to overlook his kingdom and some of its bordering territories.[1]
Royal den[]
The royal den is a cave within Pride Rock. It serves as the sleeping place of the monarch, his family, and his pride.[1][2] At the back of the royal den is a throne.[8]
Lair of the Lion Guard[]
- Main article: Lair of the Lion Guard
The Lair of the Lion Guard is a cave at the base of Pride Rock. It serves as the official meeting place of the Lion Guard.[9]
History[]
Simba's presentation[]
Shortly after the birth of Mufasa's son, Simba, the Pride Landers gathered at Pride Rock for his presentation. With the Pride Landers spectating from the base of Pride Rock, Rafiki lifted the cub for all to see, and they bowed before him.[1]
Mufasa's royal lesson to Simba[]
“ |
|
” |
Seasons later, when Simba was a cub, Mufasa took him to the summit of Pride Rock. As the two overlooked the Pride Lands, Mufasa explained that the kingdom belonged to them and that, one day, Simba would succeed him as king. Simba questioned if the Elephant Graveyard was part of their kingdom, but Mufasa explained that it was beyond their borders and that Simba must never go there.[1]
Scar's coronation[]
“ |
|
” |
Following the purported deaths of Mufasa and Simba, Scar delivered a eulogy to his pride at the base of Pride Rock. He then invited Shenzi's clan into the Pride Lands, while the lionesses looked on in horror. He then ascended Pride Rock's promontory to take his place as king.[1]
Scar's reign[]
“ | ” |
As the seasons passed, the Pride Lands fell into disarray, and many of the herds moved on. Scar, however, spent his days lazing in the royal den of Pride Rock while Zazu sang to him from a bone cage. One day, Shenzi and her friends, Banzai and Ed, confronted Scar over the kingdom's poor conditions, but he simply told them to eat Zazu. Banzai muttered that it had not been so bad under Mufasa, which incited Scar's wrath. He ordered the hyenas out of his den, and though they remarked that they were still hungry, he simply repeated his command for them to leave.[1]
Battle for Pride Rock[]
“ | ” |
One day, Scar summoned Sarabi to him at Pride Rock and demanded to know why the lionesses were not hunting. She explained that the herds had moved on, then implored Scar to let them leave Pride Rock so they would not starve. When he refused, she started to unfavorably compare him to Mufasa, only for him to strike her aside in rage. At that moment, a full-grown Simba confronted Scar and demanded that he abdicate the throne. Scar pointed out that the hyenas recognized him as king, but Nala countered that the pride did not and that Simba was the rightful king.
Instead of giving in to Simba's demands, Scar forced him to confess that he was responsible for Mufasa's death. He then backed Simba to the edge of the promontory, to the point that the young lion slipped and nearly fell off of Pride Rock. With Simba in a prone position, Scar confessed that he was to blame for Mufasa's death, and Simba leaped back to solid ground and forced Scar to confess his crimes before the pride.
At Scar's admission of guilt, a battle broke out between the hyenas and the lionesses. While the lionesses managed to chase the hyenas away from Pride Rock, Simba battled Scar atop the summit and threw him to the base of Pride Rock. There, Scar was confronted and killed by his disillusioned hyena followers.[1]
Simba's coronation[]
“ |
|
” |
With Scar dead and the hyenas defeated, Simba ascended Pride Rock to take his place as king.[1]
Kiara's presentation[]
“ | ” |
Shortly after the birth of Simba's daughter, Kiara, the Pride Landers journeyed to Pride Rock for her presentation. As Rafiki held her from atop the promontory of Pride Rock, the gathered animals bowed to her.[2]
Kiara and Simba's argument about the Outsiders[]
“ |
|
” |
Seasons later, when Kiara was a cub, she attempted to leave Pride Rock, only for Simba to stop her and ask where she was going. He warned her that accidents could happen, and she repeated his many lessons back to him in frustration. Though she begged to leave, Nala approached and told her to mind her father, and Simba ordered her to stay away from the Outlands. Zazu added that the Outlands were full of "backstabbing, murderous Outsiders." Despite Kiara's confusion, Simba insisted that she would understand when she was older, and she departed Pride Rock to play.
Once Kiara was gone, Nala reminded Simba that he had been just like Kiara when he was a cub, then insisted that their daughter would be fine. However, as Nala walked away, Simba sent Timon and Pumbaa to keep an eye on Kiara.[2]
Simba's royal lesson to Kiara[]
“ |
|
” |
One morning, Simba taught Kiara about her role as future queen from the peak of Pride Rock. In the middle of the lesson, Simba's son Kion and Kion's best friend Bunga interrupted with a game of Baobab Ball. Simba encouraged the boys to take their game elsewhere, and they left Pride Rock.[9]
Formation of the Lion Guard[]
“ |
|
” |
Shortly after Bunga and Kion left, Simba, Nala, and Rafiki heard Kion use the Roar of the Elders from across the Pride Lands. Though Rafiki declared that Kion was "ready," Simba protested that he was still a cub. Rafiki reminded Simba that he had heard Kion's Roar, and Nala encouraged him to listen to Rafiki.
At that moment, Kion and Bunga arrived at Pride Rock, and Simba told Kion that they needed to talk. Rafiki explained that Kion had used the Roar of the Elders, which enabled the Great Lions of the Past to roar alongside him. Though Simba looked to Rafiki to keep explaining, he insisted that Simba must be the one to tell Kion about the Lion Guard, and so, Simba led his son from the peak of Pride Rock to a secret lair at its base.
Once inside the Lair, Simba explained that the Lion Guard was a group of animals who protected the Pride Lands and upheld the Circle of Life. He went on that Scar had formerly led the Lion Guard until he had abused the Roar's power to kill his own Lion Guard and thus lost it forever. Kion insisted that he would never be like Scar, and Simba implored him to gather a new Lion Guard to protect their kingdom. Kion vowed to do so, then left the Lair with Bunga.[9]
Baboon invasion[]
“ |
|
” |
After overhearing Makuu challenge Pua to a mashindano, Kion shared his worries about Makuu's aggression with his parents at Pride Rock. Nala reminded Kion that Simba had fought Scar to regain his throne, and Simba added that, as king, he needed to respect other species' customs.
Later, after Makuu won the mashindano, he and his float invaded Big Springs, which forced the hippopotamuses to move elsewhere. This, in turn, caused more and more species to be kicked out of their native habitats. Eventually, the baboons got forced into Pride Rock, and Kiara appealed to the Lion Guard for help. While Kion moved off to consult Mufasa's spirit, the rest of the Lion Guard awaited him in the Lair. Eventually, through the Lion Guard's intervention, Makuu's float left Big Springs, and the animals' usual habitats were restored.[10]
Kiara's temporary queenship[]
“ | ” |
When Simba got invited to speak at Aminifu's funeral, he left Kiara in charge of the Pride Lands. As he and Nala departed Pride Rock, Kiara watched them go from atop the promontory.
Later, as the Lion Guard readied for their morning patrol, they spotted Ono flying toward Pride Rock. They followed him there, only for Tiifu and Zuri to give Kiara a royal introduction when they arrived. Kion demanded to know what Kiara wanted with Ono, and she explained that, with Zazu gone, she had asked Ono to deliver her a Morning Report. Despite Kion's disapproval, Ono reported that a herd of elands was migrating along the river and that several new bee hives had appeared along the same trail. Realizing that the elands would run into the bees and incite chaos, Kiara ordered the Lion Guard to divert the herd.
Instead of heeding Kiara's orders, Kion opted to move the bees. This resulted in the Lion Guard and the eland herd getting heavily stung. Afterwards, the Guard reported the incident to Kiara in the royal den of Pride Rock, and she chided Kion for having ignored her orders.
Later that day, Mzingo approached Kiara on the peak of Pride Rock and told her that Janja wished to offer her a peace proposal at Broken Rock. Once within the royal den, Kiara told Kion about her plan to meet with Janja, but he protested that Janja could not be trusted. When she remained stubbornly committed to her plan, he left in a huff.
After Kion had a change of heart and rescued Kiara from Janja's clan, the siblings awaited their parents' return on Pride Rock. Simba and Nala soon arrived, and Nala explained that Simba's tribute to Aminifu had turned out fine. Though Kiara was hesitant to share how her temporary reign as queen had gone, Kion remarked that she would make a great queen someday.[8]
Dangerous premonitions[]
“ |
|
” |
After saving Thurston's herd from falling rocks, Fuli and Kion surveyed the Pride Lands from the peak of Pride Rock. Before long, Beshte and Bunga approached and told Kion that Rafiki's paintings could predict the future. Kion, however, did not believe them. At that moment, Ono flew up and warned his teammates that Janja's clan was attacking Thurston's herd. The Lion Guard promptly left Pride Rock to save them.[11]
Mbali Fields Migration[]
“ |
|
” |
Upon finding the gazelles and zebras fighting over their depleted grazing grounds, Kion returned to Pride Rock and consulted with Simba about the problem. Simba pointed out Mbali Fields in the far distance and suggested that Kion lead the herds there on a migration. Though Kion was hesitant to accept such a big responsibility, Simba was confident in his son's abilities.[12]
Ajabu's appeal to Simba and Nala[]
“ |
|
” |
One day, Kion led Ajabu to Pride Rock and appealed to Simba and Nala to let him remain in the Pride Lands. They gave Ajabu their blessing, thus formally accepting him as a Pride Lander.[3]
Termite infestation[]
“ |
|
” |
When termites began to overrun the Pride Lands, the Lion Guard journeyed to Pride Rock and asked Simba for advice. He suggested that they consult the aardwolves, who were the Pride Lands' termite experts, and Kion realized that he had mistakenly banished them from the Pride Lands because they resembled hyenas. Simba assured him that he had made a mistake and encouraged him to correct it.[13]
Sokwe's message to Simba[]
“ |
|
” |
One day, Kion led two gorilla princes, Hafifu and Majinuni, to Pride Rock. There, they met with Simba to deliver a message from their father, King Sokwe, only to realize that they had forgotten it. Concerned, Simba tasked Kion with returning the gorilla princes home and finding out what Sokwe's message was, for it would determine if the gorillas remained at peace with the Pride Landers or not. After Kion followed through on the mission, he reported back to Pride Rock with Sokwe's declaration of peace, which involved Bunga dunking a snowball on Simba's head.[5]
Udugu[]
“ |
|
” |
One morning, at Pride Rock, Simba and Nala watched their cubs play-fighting and determined that they were ready. Approaching the cubs, Nala informed them that they would be taking the trail to Udugu, which all royal siblings undertook when they were ready. Simba informed Kion that, in the meantime, he would lead the Lion Guard.
Later, after Kiara and Kion took the trail to Udugu, the royal family met back up at Pride Rock. Simba asked his cubs if they had found Udugu, and they confirmed that they had done so by working together as brother and sister. Kion questioned how Simba had fared with the Lion Guard, and Simba admitted that he had found Udugu as well. Leading his cubs to the edge of the promontory, he emphasized the importance of Udugu and told them that they would one day be in charge of the whole kingdom.[14]
Royal Mud Print Ceremonies[]
“ | ” |
One evening, Simba held a Royal Mud Print Ceremony for Hadithi near Pride Rock. In the midst of the ceremony, Hadithi confessed that he was a coward and implored the Lion Guard to help him rescue Ono. After Ono was saved, he was honored with the ceremony instead.[15]
Savannah Summit[]
“ | ” |
On the day of the Savannah Summit, Simba assembled the various Pride Lander leaders at Pride Rock. As Makuu attempted to join them, Kion tackled him to the ground, but Simba explained that he had invited Makuu himself. Afterwards, the group proceeded to Mizimu Grove.
Later, Bupu and Makuu were at Pride Rock, attempting to work out an agreement about where their respective species would sleep during the dry season, when Kion once more attacked Makuu. Though Simba chastised Kion, Makuu left in a huff, as none of the Pride Landers trusted him. With Makuu gone, Simba told Kion that he may have ruined the Summit, then left to salvage what he could of the event at Mizimu Grove.[16]
Makini meets the royal family[]
“ | ” |
One day, Rafiki introduced his new apprentice, Makini, to the royal family on the peak of Pride Rock. Simba informed Makini that it was always an honor for someone to be chosen as the next Royal Mjuzi and that she would always be welcome at Pride Rock. Kiara suggested that Makini accompany her to help Ma Tembo search for water, and Simba agreed. Though Tiifu and Zuri attempted to follow Kiara and Makini, Nala urged them to remain on Pride Rock with her.[17]
Makuu's meeting with Simba[]
“ |
|
” |
When the Lion Guard accidentally awoke Makuu's float from hibernation, Makuu traveled to Pride Rock to speak with Simba about the situation. From nearby, Ono fretted that he would get in trouble for having woken the crocodiles. At that moment, Kion called Ono over and suggested to Simba that he scout out a new watering hole for Makuu's float. Ono did so, only to discover that the crocodiles had invaded the Pride Lands' water holes. Irked that someone had defied his direct orders, Makuu readied to deal with his float, but Simba encouraged him to let the Lion Guard handle it.[4]
Makini's portrait of the royal family[]
“ |
|
” |
One day, at Pride Rock, the Pride Landers gathered to witness a painting ceremony for Makini. Simba announced to the crowd that it was the duty of every Royal Mjuzi to preserve the history of the Pride Lands and that Makini was about to expound upon that role. As the crowd watched, she painted a portrait of the royal family.[18]
Christmas[]
“ | ” |
One day, Kion approached his family at Pride Rock and asked them if they would participate in a Christmas celebration for Timon and Pumbaa. Though Simba was hesitant, Nala reminded him that Timon and Pumbaa had done so much for him over the years, and Kiara added that he would likely have fun. At last, Simba gave in, and Kion told his family to bring along Tiifu and Zuri as well. As he raced away, he wished them a merry Christmas.[19]
Zazu's kidnapping[]
“ |
|
” |
One day, the Lion Guard met with Simba at Pride Rock. To their shock, Simba revealed that Zazu had failed to deliver his Morning Report, which had never happened before. Simba worried that something was wrong, and so, Kion vowed to find Zazu.
Eventually, the Lion Guard figured out that Zazu had been kidnapped by Janja's clan and imprisoned in the Outlands. After freeing him, the Guard took him back to Pride Rock. There, he delivered his Morning Report to Simba, despite Simba's protests that it was no longer morning. Zazu lamented having never given a late Morning Report before, but the Guard assured him that it was not his fault and that he had been very brave. Reassured, he continued delivering his Morning Report.[20]
Kumbuka celebration[]
“ |
|
” |
On the day of the Kumbuka celebration, the Pride Landers gathered at Pride Rock to celebrate. As Rafiki presided over the ceremony, a scorpion named Sumu stung Simba on the tail, and he collapsed. Upon examining Simba, Rafiki concluded that he had been stung by a scorpion. He continued to tend to the king, during which time he implored the Lion Guard to fetch the antidote, volcanic ash, from the Outlands volcano. They did so, and Rafiki was able to cure Simba.
As Simba recovered, Kion told Rafiki that he must speak with his father about the return of Scar. Rafiki agreed that they must talk but ordered Kion to wait until Simba had rested and healed. After the conversation, Kion joined the rest of the Lion Guard on the promontory of Pride Rock, where he declared that they would defeat Scar, no matter how difficult the struggle.[7]
Kongwe's meeting with Simba[]
“ | ” |
After speaking with Mufasa's spirit about the return of Scar, Simba met with the Lion Guard, Makini, and Rafiki on Pride Rock. There, he tasked Makini with finding Kongwe, the oldest and wisest animal in the Pride Lands. Beshte pointed out that Kongwe's home, Urembo River, was a half-day's walk away, and Simba worried that this would be too long of a delay. Fuli, however, volunteered to speed up the trip, and she and Makini left to collect Kongwe.
That evening, Fuli and Makini escorted Kongwe to Pride Rock. She, in turn, encouraged Simba to be patient and asserted that good always triumphed over evil in the end.[21]
Tiifu and Zuri's false alarm[]
“ |
|
” |
One day, the Lion Guard overheard Tiifu and Zuri crying for help and followed their voices to the royal den of Pride Rock. Upon questioning them, the Guard learned that they were simply upset that the heat was messing up their fur. Just then, Nala approached and scolded the girls for having called the Guard for a non-emergency. Beshte suggested that the cubs visit the mudpots to moisturize their fur, and they enthusiastically agreed, inviting Kiara along. Before the girls could leave, Nala sent Bunga and Kion with them to keep an eye out for danger.
Later, after the cubs got trapped underground, a golden mole named Kuchimba pointed them down a tunnel that led toward Pride Rock. They followed it and, with some help from Muhangus, emerged aboveground near Pride Rock.[22]
Lion Guard's training of the Pride Landers[]
“ |
|
” |
The Lion Guard assembled some Pride Lander recruits at Pride Rock to train them for upcoming fights with the Outlanders. Later, when Ono discovered that some Outlanders were attacking Makuu's watering hole, he found the Pride Lander army near Pride Rock. Upon overhearing Makuu's dilemma, the Pride Landers volunteered to help fight the Outlanders, and the Lion Guard led them away to battle.[23]
Dhahabu's visit to the Pride Lands[]
“ | ” |
One day, a crowd of Pride Landers gathered at Pride Rock in anticipation of Dhahabu's visit to discuss a water treaty with Simba. Before long, Dhahabu arrived and proceeded to Pride Rock. Simba greeted her warmly, then declared that the official celebration would continue at sundown. That evening, Dhahabu announced from Pride Rock that she would renew her water treaty with the Pride Landers.[6]
Simba's meeting with the Pride Lander herds[]
“ |
|
” |
Upon learning that Scar was back, the Pride Lander herds debated if they wished to remain in the kingdom or not. Simba told them to inform him of their decisions the following morning at Pride Rock. Come morning, the Pride Landers gathered at Pride Rock to speak with Simba, only for Kion to interrupt and implore them to follow him to Mizimu Grove before they left the Pride Lands for good.[24]
Battle for the Pride Lands[]
“ |
|
” |
In preparation for an invasion of the Outlands, the Lion Guard and their Pride Lander allies gathered at Pride Rock. That night, Scar's army set fire to Pride Rock, trapping the royal family on the promontory, as well as Janja's clan and the Lion Guard inside the Lair. As the fire blazed, Anga and Hadithi carried the royal family to safety, while the Lion Guard and Janja's clan escaped the Lair through an underwater tunnel.
Suddenly, Scar manifested atop the burning Pride Rock and urged the Pride Landers to flee their kingdom. Simba, however, refused, and Scar's spirit vanished. Afterwards, the Pride Landers despaired over their chances against Scar, until Janja revealed that Scar could supposedly be defeated if Kion used the Roar of the Elders inside the volcano. With renewed confidence, the Pride Landers resolved to follow through on their invasion of the Outlands the following morning.
The next day, after the Pride Landers defeated Scar's army and the Lion Guard defeated Scar himself, Kion and Ono retained injuries from the battle. They reported to Rafiki at Pride Rock, and he determined that they must seek healing at the Tree of Life. Shortly afterwards, the Lion Guard and Makini said their goodbyes at Pride Rock, then departed on their journey. As they walked away from Pride Rock, several Pride Landers gathered to wish them well.[25]
Kiara's first hunt[]
“ | Kiara: You have to promise to let me do this on my own. Promise? Simba: All right. I promise.
|
” |
Seasons later, a full-grown Kiara readied for her first hunt. As the pride gathered at the entryway of Pride Rock, she strode in-between them and greeted her parents. She asked Simba to promise to let her conduct the hunt on her own, and with some encouragement from Nala, he delivered his promise. Overjoyed, Kiara nuzzled him, then departed Pride Rock to hunt. As Simba watched her go, however, he whispered instructions to Timon and Pumbaa to ensure that she did not get hurt.
After Kovu saved Kiara from a fire, Simba reluctantly allowed him to join the pride. That night, as the pride entered the royal den of Pride Rock to sleep, Kovu started to follow them, only for Simba to growl at him. Taking the hint, Kovu instead chose to sleep beside a tall rock on the peak. Seeing him there, Kiara approached and thanked him for having saved her life. He merely mocked her for her poor hunting skills, and she challenged him to teach her what he knew. He agreed, and she told him that they would start their lessons at dawn.
From afar, Nuka and his mother, Zira, surveyed the scene, and Nuka questioned why Kovu would let Kiara go. Zira hushed him and explained that the closer Kovu got to Kiara, the closer he would get to Simba. Adding that Kovu would get Simba alone, she slashed a nearby tree.[2]
Kovu's exile[]
“ |
|
” |
After Zira set an ambush for Simba, the pride came to believe that Kovu had been involved. Kovu approached Pride Rock and attempted to prove his innocence, but Simba refused to listen and instead exiled him from the Pride Lands. The gathered Pride Landers then worked together to drive Kovu from Pride Rock.
Once Kovu had gone, Kiara begged her father to reconsider his decision, but Simba asserted that Kovu was following in Scar's paw prints and that he himself must follow in Mufasa's. Heartbroken, Kiara declared that Simba would never be Mufasa, then fled into the royal den of Pride Rock. As she wept, she noticed a hole in the wall and managed to escape out the back of the den to search for Kovu.[2]
Marriage of Kovu and Kiara[]
“ |
|
” |
After the Outsiders merged with Simba's pride, they gathered on the peak of Pride Rock to witness Kovu's marriage to Kiara. After the ceremony, the royal couples strode to the edge of the promontory and roared over their kingdom. The gathered Pride Landers cheered, and Mufasa's spirit praised Simba for having united the prides.[2]
Lion Guard's return to the Pride Lands[]
“ |
|
” |
On the Lion Guard's way back to the Pride Lands to help fight the Outsiders, Anga spotted Kovu standing on Pride Rock. Just then, Vitani and her self-formed Lion Guard attacked Kion's Guard, only for Kiara to intervene and urge Kion to come to Pride Rock. Once there, Kion had a delighted reunion with his parents. Kovu, Kiara, and Rafiki then explained the circumstances behind Zira's death and the reunion of the Outsiders and Simba's pride. Afterwards, Timon, Pumbaa, and Basi arrived at Pride Rock to greet the Guard.
That night, the royal family conferred with Mufasa's spirit atop Pride Rock. After Mufasa had vanished, the royal family walked toward the royal den, only for Kiara to notice that Kion had lingered on the promontory to look at the stars. Upon being questioned by Kiara, Kion confessed that he missed Rani, a friend he had made at the Tree of Life. Sensing the depth of her brother's feelings, Kiara encouraged him to return to Rani if he so desired, as their parents would understand.
The next day, Kion's Lion Guard returned to the Lair, only to find that Vitani and her Lion Guard were already inside. The two groups fought over who had the right to protect the Pride Lands until Laini interrupted, begging for help. Both Lion Guards agreed to assist her, and they left the Lair together.
Later, during the Battle of the Lion Guards, the Pride Landers gathered near Pride Rock for Vitani's challenge against Kion. As the event began, Vitani challenged Kion to a mashindano. Horrified, he warned her that she could not stand against the Roar's power, but she insisted that she was fierce enough to lead the Guard without the Roar. Realizing that Vitani was the true leader of the Lion Guard, Kion declared her the victor and conferred the Mark of the Guard and the Roar of the Elders upon her. At that moment, the spirit of Askari appeared in the sky and congratulated Kion, commenting that his willingness to give up the Roar had allowed him to achieve complete mastery of it. Vitani questioned what this meant, and so, Kion used the Roar to lift Pride Rock, then set it back down gently, to his audience's shock and awe.[26]
Appearances[]
Trivia[]
- The filmmakers of The Lion King II: Simba's Pride deliberately animated Pride Rock from a different angle than in the original The Lion King to represent Simba dealing with his "shadow side."[27]
