U.S. 20th Century

Twentieth-century United States history is one of the Department’s most extensive fields, with scholarship on such topics as the modern African diaspora; urban and suburban development; carceral institutions; drug controversies; LGBTQA studies; modern conservatism; coeducation in institutions of higher education; labor; and national security politics. Faculty members are affiliated with African American Studies, American Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Urban Studies, and the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA).
