I saw this Tree Sparrow sitting in, well, a tree, at RSPB Bempton Cliffs on the Yorkshire Coast. I went there to photograph the Gannets & Puffins mainly, but was also quite pleased to capture this little bird just outside the visitor centre there as we took a break for lunch.

Since I need some winter images for a proper photo calendar i looked for something worth capturing during those days when we had at least a little bit of snow.
Actually the amount of snow we had wasn’t even enough to cover the grass on this hill, so I cloned out hundreds of grass blades, which was great fun.
Not.
If you are into counting, you are welcome to check my assertion based on the original image:

I thought this was enough of a distinctive reflection to photograph, helped, of course, by the stillness!
The Ardkeen Trees on a hazy summers day....but through an infrared eye it looks like a winters day :)
Ancient trees
Time for a totally different processing. The power of old and strange shaped willow trees drew my attention when I was in a park.
Remembering old times, when there were still blank, white spots on topographical maps, I decided to make this picture look antique as well.
Lots of interest shown in this reeling bird at the local nature reserve. E-M1 MKII/100-400mm.

Morning fog on a farm , ranch in Mountain Home Arkansas, A Hickory Tree at the gate of the entrance of the farm..The light too that was shining in on the gate was amazing
I've called this image "Rising" because both the sun and the mist were doing just that! The trigger for this situation occurred when the sun breached the top of the trees on the Clifton side of the River Trent at Beeston. However, the sun had actually risen above the horizon long before it rose above the trees, which meant that it was already very strong by the time I made the shot. In fact, I needed to stack a pair of hard edged ND graduated filters to control the exposure, the result of which made the sky appear more dark and dramatic.
One of my regular haunts, and most favourite trees. It is a single birch with twin trunks that split at ground level.
I swear this is going to be the last "trees in snow" photograph I post on here for a long while; even I can tire of the subject matter.
But it's deep winter here in my "neck of the woods" and both the palette and "material" available to me are somewhat limited...
New camera for Christmas, and I went out yesterday to try it out. This was taken at Wimpole in Cambridgeshire, England. I love trees in silhouette in Winter, and these were two lovely gnarled old specimens on a hillside.
Sycamore trees normally shed large sheets of their outer bark as they age. It is common to find large areas under Sycamore trees covered with these sheets in the Fall after heavy winds and rain.
Finally got out for a hike again. Between work and my Dad's illness life has gotten hectic.
