Furry Takeover is a furry camping convention held in Fontana Dam, North Carolina.

Overview[edit]

Furry Takeover is held in September each year at the Fontana Village Resort & Marina. Furry Takeover combines traditional furry convention programming such as panels, games, dance competitions, Dealer's Den, and an Artist Alley, with outdoor activities associated with camping.[1]

History[edit]

  • 2018 - The first event was held October 24-26, 2018.[2]
  • 2019 - The second event was held October 27-29, 2019.[3]
  • 2020 - The third event was held online, September 25-27, 2022, on Discord and Twitch due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[4]
  • 2021 - The fourth event was held in person September 17-19, 2021.[5] $1600 was raised for NeverU1031 to help them recover from the loss of their home and business caused by Hurricane Ida.[6]
  • 2022 - The fifth event was held September 16-18, 2022. [7] The theme was Alien Invasion!, marking the first instance of a yearly theme for FTO.[8]
  • 2023—The sixth event was held from September 29 to October 1, 2023. The theme was Safari Takeover. Attendance was 374.
  • 2024 - The seventh event was held September 27-29, 2024. The theme was Dino-Might.[9]. Final attendance was 553 [10].
  • 2025 - The eighth event will be held September 26-28, 2025. The theme will be the Wild West.[11].

Mascot[edit]

Furry Takeover's mascot is a brown bear named Tony.
