Quack-a-rooney!

–Huey, Dewey, and Louie

Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck are the triplet nephews of Donald Duck, and the grand-nephews of Scrooge McDuck. DuckTales 1987 shows their adventures with their uncle Scrooge, following the pilot movie, "The Treasure of the Golden Suns", in which Donald leaves them in Scrooge's care to join the Navy. Their signature look features colorful long-sleeved shirts with matching caps that feature accents that are darker hues of their corresponding color. (In the first few episodes produced, their hat accents are black instead.)

Personality[]

Triplets Huey (red), Dewey (blue), and Louie (green) are young boys, full of energy, which sometimes causes them to act before thinking. Although sometimes mischievous, they rarely mean any harm, and are proud Junior Woodchucks

History[]

Before the events of DuckTales, Huey, Dewey, and Louie lived with their uncle Donald but then when Donald was about to leave Duckburg to join the US Navy, Donald left his nephews in the care of his rich uncle, Scrooge McDuck. The nephews at first did not like the idea of staying with scrooge just like scrooge they did not like the idea of taking care of the nephews but over time scrooge and the nephews were starting to get along. And since then while the children lived with their uncle Scrooge, the boys soon re-juvenile him, and causes the household to grow even bigger, as Scrooge hires Mrs. Beakley as their nanny, and Beakley brings along her young granddaughter, Webby Vanderquack. Although the boys initially are sceptic of having a younger girl join their adventures, they get used to her, and most of the time they get along with her.

Aside from the fact that they dress in different colors, the boys seem basically identical and inseparable, just like their appearances in the old Donald Duck theatrical shorts and comics. However, occasionally one stands out among his sibling: Huey is shown to have notable marble playing skills in "Pearl of Wisdom", Louie discovers he has a talent as a salesman in "Much Ado About Scrooge", and Dewey has a rare moment of one of the nephews wanting to be unique, and shows signs of being somewhat smarter than his brothers in "Duck in the Iron Mask".

Trivia[]

  • Huey, Dewey and Louie also shared the same voice as Minnie Mouse up until Russi Taylor's passing in July 2019.

Continuity Errors[]

  • A recurring goof with the triplets' hats is a pattern and design error where both hues of their corresponding colors are featured at the front and back of them. An example is the introduction of the 1987 theme.
