Hyunckel (A Hero's Bonds)
Hyunckel is a playable character in Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: A Hero's Bonds, and one of the main characters from the Adventure of Dai series.
An expert swordsman and former commander of the Undead Legion, Hyunckel switched sides after his battle with Dai helped to rekindle is desire for true justice. In battle, he excels in continuous attacks and debuff skills, making him a good choice for the front line.
Dark Armour Blade (Armour-morph)[edit]
Also known as Dark Armour Blade (Amdo), this version of Hyunckel is recruitable in Bonding Journey's Episode 13 - Avan's Avengers, which is unlocked after finishing Chapter 4: Episode 19 - Incineration in the Dragon Tracks story mode. His Ally Board is in the shape of his helmet's visor with the Dark Armour Blade still attached.

Disciple of Avan[edit]
This version of Hyunckel is available during the Action is Virtue: The Solitary Swordsman event and specialises in dealing Slash-type damage. Since he does not possess as much Physical or Magical Defence in this outfit, Hyunckel compensates with much higher Attack and becoming more powerful when his HP falls below 50%.
Players can unlock him after finishing Episode 8 - Silent Bonds in the beginner difficulty or by exchanging Seer Candles at Merle's Mystic Fortunes. His Ally Board is in the shape of the Dark Armour Blade's scabbard.
While the character acquisition event lasted, having him as the Luminary Leader's partner would grant extra tokens and upgrade jewels for this style.

Dark Armour Spear (Armour-morph)[edit]
The third version of Hyunckel wields the Dark Armour Spear and specialises in dealing Light-type damage. Spearman Hyunckel can be unlocked during the Dark Spearman, Ally of the Light event or by exchanging Seer Candles at Merle's Mystic Fortunes shop. His Ally Board is in the shape the Dark Armour Spear's spearhead.
On March 1st, 2023, the development team gave all players a gift of 443 Hyunckel's Jewels, along with various skill scrolls as part of a Support Campaign to take on difficult quests.

Summer Style[edit]
The second spear-wielding version of Hyunckel wears a stylish swimsuit and specialises in dealing Thrust-type damage. He can be unlocked in the second part of the Watermelon Splitting Contest event or by exchanging Seer Candles at Merle's Mystic Fortunes shop. His Ally Board is in the shape of a trident.
Hyunckel (Summer Style) has an extra time-limited trait that grants him double experience points while the Watermelon Splitting Contest event lasts. During this perido, having him as the Luminary Leader's partner would grant extra tokens and upgrade jewels for this style.
