"Web Beard's Treasure" is the first segment of the fourteenth episode of Spidey and his Amazing Friends. It premiered on December 10, 2021.
Synopsis[]
When Team Spidey foils Doc Ock in her attempt to steal a treasure map, she tricks them into getting the treasure for her.
Plot[]
Peter, Gwen, and Miles are visiting the pirate exhibit at the museum. There, they see a statue of Web Beard the pirate. According to the museum curator, Mr. Von Carnegie, he was the most famous pirate who ever sailed the seas. He liked to catch his enemies in web-like traps, and had more treasure than any other pirate. Web Beard hid many treasure chests all over the world, and it is said he even buried one in the city. Unfortunately, that treasure has never been found, much to Peter, Miles, and Gwen's disappointment.
Suddenly, Doc Ock appears and steals Web Beard's statue. As Mr. Von Carnegie calls for security, Team Spidey suit up and chase after Doc Ock. Ghost-Spider manages to get the statue back from Doc Ock, and then a roll of old paper falls out from the bottom. Doc Ock tries to grab it, but the Spiders surround her. However, Doc Ock manages to escape in a puff of green smoke. The rolled up piece of paper turns out to be a map to Web Beard's treasure, which explains why Doc Ock tried the steal the statue. The Spiders agree they cannot let that treasure fall into Doc Ock's tentacles. So, they decide to go look for the treasure themselves and donate it to the museum. Little do they know that Doc Ock is following them, knowing they will lead her to the treasure.
The map has clues next to each picture to guide the Spiders. The first set of clues lead them to a rock in the park that is shaped like Web Beard's hat. There they find a trap door leading to a cave that is full of traps. Still, the Spiders are unaware that Doc Ock is following them. They swing all the way to what appears to be a dead end. According to the map, they need to look for sunshine where they must push. They notice sunlight is shining on the cave wall, and there they find a pressure pad that opens to a secret cave where they find Web Beard's ship. The Spiders approach the ship cautiously. Once they are onboard they find Web Beard's treasure chest on the poop deck. But as they tried to get to it, they set off a series of traps that capture Spidey. Just then, Doc Ock shows up and swipes the chest. She makes her escape across a worn-out rope bridge leading to an exit. However, the boards are so old, that eventually Doc Ock breaks right through them. She falls, but the Spiders manage to catch her in a web net. The Spiders take the chest away from her, and donate the treasure to the museum.
